I finally decided to visit the little theatre in town. I was excited to see Wait until dark. I think the mistake I made was first seeing the 1967 wait until dark with Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard Crenna, Jack Westin, etc. I think the director of this play was responsible for the poor casting. The character Roat was Neither ruthless nor frightening, he was extremely slow and laughable. He was much too old for the part & not at all convincing. The character Susy was extremely loud and overly dramatic. I actually thought most of the characters were overly dramatic. Most of the time I had to bite inside my mouth to keep from laughing aloud! The character Mr. Hendrix was absolutely the worst. It was if he were reading his script slowly word by word with hardly any expression. Most all of the characters forgot their lines and jumbled through it. Which really surprised me as this was the last weekend of this performance. It was painful sitting through almost 3 hours of this overly long play. I must mention that the only believable character was Gloria. She did a really great job playing her character, which was pretty much like the actual character. My final words are this play was not at all what it could have been. It was not suspenseful nor intriguing. It was more like a comedy and that is not at all what I had been anticipating. I was not surprised to see that during the second act people had quietly exited the theatre. I am hesitant to return.

A breath of culture into a scary part of Hanford — they always manage to put on all kinds of really fun, inexpensive shows with active participants in the community, year in and year out. I’m glad there’s something like this in a town that can seem dead sometimes.

This theater has been building steam lately. Shows are getting better. Always a nice intimate experience. Very glad Hanford has such a place.
