Bubba Burgers Hanalei

It’s bubba’s, so of course it’s good! The outside seating was really nice. Customer service was meh! I give them 2 stars because, they forgot one of our burgers. We ordered our food to go and didn’t think they could possibly forget anything but, unfortunately they did. If you order your food to go and it’s for more than 4 people, CHECK YOUR BAG! Mistakes happen :-(

No Aloha spirit for Bubbas in Hanalei.
Today I was halfway through my burger while on their patio and two birds flew up and ate from my burger while it was in my hands. I asked if they would please replace the burger, but Gabe the manager said it’s not their problem because the burger had left their control. Ok, I get it, but what about some consideration just because you value people and customers? And I even had given them a tip even though they do nothing to serve you. We’re here for two more weeks and are big burger eaters, but no more at Bubbas. Their burger is good, but so are many other options.
Bad karma. What goes around comes around.

After being in Hawaii a week and living off fish and rice, I was desperately craving a burger and Bubba’s hit the spot. I’ve seen some people compare to In n Out and Shake Shack, and I can see why, but it’s also very different. The fries were amazing. Got the teriyaki burger which was good as it still had some of that hawaiian flair to it. This is a great, quick spot for lunch.

Starving after our hike on the Napali coast, stopped in and got two standard lunch combos. They were both REALLY overdone and dry, and I almost chipped a tooth on a bone chip in my patty… not the best lunch experience by any means. Probably won’t be returning anytime soon… was disappointed, especially after coming so highly recommended from other visitors.

The burgers here are EXCELLENT! We went here three times during our trip (we were on vacation who cares about if it’s healthy?). The Kaua’i beef really makes a difference and the relish is really great! The chocolate milkshake is really good!!! This location also has a «BBQ of the day» and I definitely recommend getting a small cup of it whatever it is that day you go! The great part is that two people can eat for $ 20.00 which is really great given Kaua’i prices.

My husband and I stopped here while exploring the north shore. Neither of us were real hungry but it smelled really good and we had heard a lot about the place. We ordered the teriyaki burger and frings to split. The burger was a little greasy in my opinion but the fries and onion rings were really good, I just wish the portion sizes were bigger. I loved the small town feel and when we were there our service was good.

Great burger spot! Love the food and the location! The burgers, shakes, frings (French fries and onion rings combo) hit the spot after a long day on the beach. Bought a hat from them years ago and with any burger purchase while wearing their attire you get a free drink/​refills.

Not a ton of gluten free options. The chili has beer in it and the fries had gluten on them as well. You can order a burger without the bun which was tasty (and I didn’t get sick) but I worried about the cross contamination with the teriyaki burgers they make on the same grill. My husband asked if they would make sure to clean the area before hand which they did thankfully.

I ordered the teriyaki burger and all it had on it was tons of onions, some mayo, and a burger pattie dipped in teriyaki glaze. Not worth $ 4.50 The only reason it gets two stars and not one is because their fries and onion rings were really great.

Really tasty burgers, and some of the best food we had (pro tip: most of the best food comes off food trucks and from gas stations in Hawaii!). The service was s little surly, but they don’t sell themselves as anything else (see the «attorney» letters on the wall). There is very limited indoor seating, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Order the burgers as they come — Bubba style. This is definitely a good option for tasty food in Hanalei.

I REALLY enjoyed my experience here. There were only about 3 highschool (or recently out of) aged people working. Taking orders and passing on the food. They were all enjoying themselves working together. They were EXCELLENT at communicating with the other customers. They gave reccomendations on things we should try.
Food itself: I got a double Cheeseburger, fries and milk shake. (split fries and shake with my wife) The cheeseburger itself was a «Comfort greasy» in which it was greasy from a flat top like youd find at a diner and not disgustingly over greasy from being on a dirty flat top. The burgers tasted to fresh beef. The fries were good, but nothing special. Assuming some food distrubtor’s frozen label.
Price: You cant find anything on the island this cheap. Basically $ 15+ per person the whole time we were on Kauai, so to have our total bill just shy of $ 20 was pretty nice.
I very much recomend this if you’re looking for something low key.

These burgers are delicious! 100% grass-​fed Kauai beef is what they use. These places are very popular and are sprinkled around. I have been to a couple and they are very consistent with the food. Obviously you are not coming here for a healthy snack, you come here for good food and the experience. I have started to watch what I eat more but my wife and I couldn’t say no to these burgers when we were driving around. Each place has a separate celebrity wall to look at. It is pretty cool to check out. I found myself getting a burger and skipping the deep fried stuff. If you try the teriyaki burger, it is VERY good. Remember if you don’t want onions just say so. :) This is the smaller location in the northern-​most location on the island. The same good food as the larger stores.

The burger tastes ok, but I felt kind of sick afterwards. The onion flavor is very strong, and it’s incredibly oily. I definitely recommend adding pineapple to the burger
The fries are great! And so are the banana milkshakes.
Rumor has it the taro burger isn’t great.
The parties are pretty small, so if you are hungry definitely get a double or even triple burger.

Truly a magnificent spot. This burger is an ode to Hanalei. A return to the basics, this unapologetically simple burger joint strives to distill the experience of a burger to its purest form. The strong flavor of relish tickles your tastebuds and mingles delicately with the crunch of onion while dancing playfully with the delicious grass fed Kauai beef. Treat yourself.

So many folks seem obsessed with this place, and after a week of eyeing this cheerful and inviting burger stand we decided to try it on our last day. Our burger was perfectly tasty, but I have to say, I don’t get the hype. Bubba’s is a reasonable entrant in the fast food burger genre that includes Five Guys and In-​n-​Out, but isn’t quite as good as either one. Of course, it’s not like there’s a Five Guys or an In-​n-​Out on Kauai…

Bubba’s was delicious! It had a fun beach town atmosphere. Their burgers were great and I loved the fries! I would definitely go again!

I don’t get the hype. This is a remarkably UNremarkable burger joint. The gals behind the counter were nice and polite and friendly. The ambiance is a mix of 60s and sarcasm. The menu (the actual MENU, not the food), is lots of fun.
But the food wasn’t even mediocre. In fact it was way sub-​satisfactory. The burger was tough and NOT juicy. The fries were quite meh. The milkshake was not great.
Instead of one star, we’re giving it two because the service was nice and the onion rings (all 3 of them that come with he «frings») were pretty good.
This is all hype and I wouldn’t even recommend this for a «well, you got to do it once» list.

Puh, wie enttäuschend… da hat man mir extra vor dem Urlaub noch aufgetragen, hier einzukehren, weil die Burger so saugut seien… da fährt man wortwörtlich an den Podex der Welt… und dann hält der Burger das Versprechen nicht.
Hanalei ist der vorletzte Ort im Norden Kauais, bevor die Straße endet und man entweder den anstrengenden Kalalau Trail weiter wandert oder aber umkehrt. Hanalei empfing uns im strömenden Tropenregen, entsprechend voll war es in und vor der Hütte, in der sich Bubba’s befindet. Ich bestellte einen Caesar’s Salad und einen Double Bubba. Der Salat war okay, nicht überwältigend. Der Burger, wie eingangs erwähnt… schmeckte leider wie von dem Laden mit dem goldenen M. Da kann leider auch die Tatsache nichts daran ändern, dass die Patties aus Rindfleisch von glücklichen Kühen sind, die mit Kauai-​Gras gefüttert werden. Es war original das Ketchup-​Senf-​Gürkchen-​Aroma.
Irgendwie war ich danach richtig verstimmt.
Wieder in unserem Urlaubsort Kapaa angekommen, grinste mich das Bubba-​Logo von einem anderen Restaurant an — erst da schnallte ich, dass es sich um eine Fastfood-​Kette handelt. Das erklärt vielleicht so Einiges. Zum Glück sind Geschmäcker verschieden, aber meins ist es nicht.

Bubba Burger is the epitome of greasy spoon diner, it’s fast and casual!
I’ll spare you the long review and simply say, this is a must try when you come to the Island. By the time you read this review, your burger will be up at the counter! So enjoy and you’ll appreciate having money left over for drinks later. Big Fan!

Bubba was on my target list even before I got to Kauai, was keen to try the kauai grass fed beef. Really cool spot, fun employees, good food and not crazy expensive. I got the double bubba which was very good and went pretty quick. The fries were great as well. OK fine… I also got the hot dog and that was good too. I am 6 ‘2’ OK… don’t judge.
They have several benches outside on the lawn where you can sit, enjoy the weather and people watch.
