Alright, a few things about this place, both good and bad. Let’s start with The good. For the area, we we’re happy to find parking and it was located close to the bar. Also, the burger was really good. The bad. Service sucked. Our group consisted of 4 people, only 3 ordered food(all burgers, cooked medium). Two people got their food within a timely manner, however the third person waited an additional 15 minutes for theirs. This was happening while two people who came in way after us had already gotten and finished their food. When our third person did get their food, we were told the hold up was due to a large rush. Come to find out. The large rush was 5 burger orders. Wow! What a LARGE rush. The burger was good, I’ll give them that, but I will not be revisiting. The disorganized cook and the one waitress who was completely overwhelmed by two ordering tables and 4 people at the bar showed me that you better have patience to go to this place.

i just remembered how great this place is. i came here a few times a few years ago when i first moved back to pure michigan, but hadn’t been since until last night. the place is nice, a good mix of people, much like anywhere in hamtramck i guess. the food is dirt cheap and delicious. the burgers are huge and six dollars. thick patty, normal toppings and a white bun with sesame seeds — super normal not trying to be weird stuff. cevapi are delicious, though i forget how much they are. when i was there last, they had a special tap beer for 1.50. this time it was miller lite for the month. normally drinking miller lite might depress me, but the cheapness really made everything great. there’s also a lot of stuff to do here if you like doing bar stuff. pool and active things like that. i saw someone’s waffle fries, which i didn’t know they had and got really jealous. next time!

As a sports bar this place has promise. However, on three separate visits, I’ve called it quits early in my stay because they still let people smoke in the bar. How very Hamtramck. It’s because of this I have never stayed to eat the burger that Erik raves about or even the cevapi. Too bad because I’m a sports nut and this place is walking distance from my abode.

The burgers are served open faced in a basket with wax paper, and fries in separate baskets. I was impressed with the colors on display from my burger. The vegetables looked fresh and recently cut, the patty wasn’t too greasy or dry, and the bun was pretty standard, but still intact. I’m thankful I went for the half order of fries($ 2.50 instead of the regular $ 4 whole order) with my cheeseburger, as the patty was huge and the meal left me feeling stuffed. The half pound burgers promised by the bartender may have actually been bigger. I’m pretty sure they don’t use a scale — the cook was heavy handed on this day(lucky us!) My burger was exceptional. Thick bacon slices lay on top, with a perfect saltiness to contrast with the cheese and mayo. The patty was as it looked– minimally seasoned, but with an incredible beefy taste that remained juicy throughout the meal. I expect their seasoning blend was little more than a light dusting of salt and pepper, as anything else would be lost in the flavor of the cooked beef. Condiments were unnecessary, although I did add a bit of mustard for good measure. Visual inspection and textural contrast provided no clues whether or not the bun was toasted beforehand. Mine stayed together, but Frank reported that his did not fare as well. I found the toppings to be fresh and crisp, but up against a lighter protein, they may not have fared so well. Michelle was happy with her fish sandwich, except for the tomatoes, which she described as: «pretty terrible as far as tomatoes go.» On the side, the seasoned waffle fries were crisp and salty. They were cooked as waffle fries should be, and fulfilled their purpose. The steak fries, however, were not as revered. They should have been crispier, as we all know there’s nothing sadder than a limp fry. (read the rest at )

Glad I got to visit this place during my time in Detroit. Just wish I hadn’t stuffed myself at the Polish Village right before cuz the burgers looked amazing. Nice people at the bar, good choices, pool. The only bummer was the really lame music playing while we were there. Maybe someone had loaded up crappy tunes on the jukebox? Not sure how it works but it was bad.

Love this place! The staff is always so cool. Burgers, fries, bar snacks are on point! The crowd is always different and everybody is always having a good time. It’s a real magical little burger place in our tiny city. I love that the chef puts on all of the fixing AND mayo! Delicious. The bar has awesome happy hour prices, too!

This place has the best hamburgers in Metro Detroit as well as the best Grilled Chicken Pita and Grilled Chicken Sandwiches. You must try it for your self. And this is probably the only place in Metro Detroit that serves pitchers of beer for $ 1.00 every day all day… Bar and kitchen have been family owned for about 10 years, food is very reasonably priced and they have a great menu. Everything is freshly made including home made soups and chilly. There are also dart games, Foosball, pool table and golf games… I love going to this place on Sundays to watch the Lions, there are multiple TV’s with an amazing sound system… Servers are super friendly and the owner might even buy you a drink or two, He did for us. Check the place out, you wont be disappointed. It is right next to McDonald’s in Hamtramck on Jos Campau, just south of Holbrook.

So I was told that Motor City serves up the best hamburgers in Detroit, and quite possibly the best burgers you’ll eat. Lies I said. Lies! How could some little sports bar in Hamtramck be better than Five Guys, In and Out, or any of the hundreds of pubs, bars, and burger joints in the nation. But it’s true. The burgers are basic, and unbelievably delicious. My buddy took me in on a quiet Wednesday night where we enjoyed the cheeseburgers and $ 1 drafts of Molson. The bartender was extremely friendly, and the service was quick. The burgers were simply, but delicious. They tasted almost buttery, with fresh lettuce and tomato, and a basket of pretty tasty steak fries on the side. I never thought a little sports bar in Detroit could put some place like Five Guys to shame, but Motor City definitely does.

Don’t let the exterior of this place deter ypu from going inside. Tried the cevapi and it was delicious, can’t wait to go back and try the awesome looking burgers. Staff was friendly and inside was clean and updated but small. They also just opened another bar at 8 ½ and mound with the same menu but the building is much larger.

3.5 stars, really. Boyfriend wanted to check out this place in Hamtramck. The name«Motor City Sports Bar» was dissuading me — what kind of food would/could they offer? Well… we finally found the place — the standard, light-depraved Hamtramck bar you may expect. A few regulars were drinking it up. Pool table and juke box. Friendly bartenders. Now the food: Delicious cevapi for one — with buttery, spongy pita bread and marinated tomatoes and onions, feta cube and hot peppers. We also ordered a hamburger(the main reason boyfriend wanted to visit in the first place). Thick, close to an inch thick(½ lb?), crispy on the outside, cooked to perfection within, with grilled bread and the standard toppings. Needless to say, we consumed a lot of beef and ground lamb/beef cevapi. We plan to return.
