The only reason it gets one star is that Unilocal won’t let me give it zero stars. Buscia would have never tolerated such basement level of service or quality from a grocer. Horrible customer service from virtually every employee. God bless the one gentleman who was stocking shelves who tried to help me, unfortunately due to a language barrier, he did his best to help me find Stove Top stuffing but to no avail. I did eventually find it but only by dumb luck – I had to ask a lady, who just happened to have it in her cart, where it was. They do have selection here as the store is stocked with Spartan brand products as well as name brand products alike. However, the pricing is ridiculously expensive, almost grossly over priced. Further, there is a high chance of products actually over ringing the advertised price. We have had to check them on this several times. The store employees and manager will argue with you about this too and they end up finding out that, oops, it is indeed priced incorrectly. This is criminal and the reason we stopped shopping here. Parking lot and store are simply unclean making for a less than enjoyable shopping experience. I live in Hamtramck, and what I can’t get at Srodek’s, I buy elsewhere in Grosse Pointe or in the burbs. Save your money and avoid the ghetto grocer.

I only go to Glory when I absolutely have to. The only reason I found for going was for some chocolate chips(for some reason, I can’t find them anywhere in hamtramck). Miraculously, they were in the correct aisle. Every time I have been here before I have foregone buying something because it was expired or bad, or was unable to locate it, because the labels on the aisles are terrible and nothing is where you expect it to be. Looking for peanut butter? Check over next to the paper towels, between the salad dressing and hamburger helper. I don’t know anyone that likes this store, and I have never seen anyone happy inside it. It is kind of a local joke.

It’s been my experience shopping at Glory that half of the items I intend to buy I do not because they are expired. I often have to choose a different brand or type of product, or hit up another store. The store itself is dirty and doesn’t offer much in the way of variety. What little produce they have is withered and wilted. The meat section is actually okay, but beware of the expiration dates, which is the biggest problem with this store. On my last visit, I almost bought a jar of mayo before I realized it had been expired SIXMONTHS.

This place is literally right up the street from my flat. I find that we travel to the suburbs more than staying in town to do our grocery shopping. This isn’t necessarily the fault of Glory, it’s just that the big deals are at the big stores.(Though we refuse to shop at Walmart!) Glory has a great selection of your everyday groceries. They would be too numerous to list, but they have just about everything we want in a grocery store. The only problems I have with Glory is the complete lack of a deli or meat counter. Granted, I can just go down to the Polish Market, but it’d be nice to have it all in one place. They do have a great selection of fresh veggies at great prices though. Speaking of prices, everything seems to be dirt cheap here. Even with the deals out at the big chain markets, some things are just strangely inexpensive here. They once had a special where 12 cans of Faygo were $ 1. That’s a serious markdown! If you live in Hamtramck, you probably already know about Glory. If you don’t, then you may be able to save yourself so many trips out to Warren or Eastpointe or where ever you shop for groceries.
