Ordered take-out a few weeks ago. My husband and I love Chicken Tikka Masala so we wanted to try it from Cumin India as we’ve only hat it from the other Indian restaurants in the area. Everything was good and the prices are very reasonable. The only reason why I can’t give it 5 stars is that my chicken was rather hard to chew.

My first Indian food experience and my «go to» ever since. Consistently amazing food with consistently the best service I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Waiters are extremely warm and friendly, attentive without being invasive. I’ve never had a bad meal here, nor anything not some degree of delicious. Go already!

I remember when this place used to be an IHOP. I’d say this is a huge upgrade for the area! My parents had a couple of lovely meals here and wanted to introduce me(an Indian food fanatic) to this restaurant as well, so off we went for dinner. We shared the gobi manchurian for an appetizer and ordered the malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, and goat curry for our entrees. The gobi manchurian came to our table so hot that it might as well have been right out of the fryer. Tasty, but I wish there had been less sauce on it, since it made it too salty. The chicken tikka masala was my favorite of the day. Super flavorful sauce, tender chicken, and a generous portion. I wished we had ordered two servings of this. I’m not sure why a previous reviewer was mad that there wasn’t paneer in this dish… paneer isn’t a standard ingredient in chicken tikka masala! The goat curry was also great, with lots of tender goat meat. The malai kofta was on the bland side. I’ve had better renditions elsewhere, so I would pass on this next time. The naan was great, coming to our table piping hot and fresh. Prices were very reasonable. I like how Indian food in New Haven County is always at least a few dollars cheaper than the same dishes in Hartford County Indian restaurants. Service was fantastic, some of the best I’ve had at a casual restaurant. I was impressed that the waiter recognized my parents when we walked in the door, and for dessert they gave us complimentary kheer, which made me very happy indeed. How did they know that kheer is my favorite Indian dessert? It was really well-made kheer as well, and I’m not just saying that because it was free. Long story short, I really enjoyed the food here and would love to come back, even if it was just for the chicken tikka masala. The location may be strange, but the delicious food and great service are what it’s all about.

Other reviewers did not like the buffet. I have never eaten the buffet here, only dinner ordered a la carte and I have always LOVED it. After I moved to Connecticut, this quickly became my favorite restaurant. I ate here on a regular basis for the nearly two years when I lived in the area. Tasty, generous portions and great service. Samosas, panniers, garlic naan all delicious! And a full bar! I love this place!

Sorry folks, but the food is just meh at this establishment. The chicken in the tikka masala was grainy and hard to eat, and the dish was not served with chunks of paneer(my favorite part). We ordered the cheese naan and the regular naan, and both were just average. Edible, sure, but only just.

The lunch buffet is an amazing value at $ 9! However, the food is bland. The setting is very nice, clean, orderly, but library quiet… like cutlery scraping plates quiet. The buffet had 2 types of rice, both tasted similar and not so fluffy, and most items you would want at a buffet. All vegetarian items, chicken items, samosas. For a Tues lunch there was a good amount of people there, but so quiet, I felt like we should whisper or not talk. Maybe a little Indian music? The staff was on point with filling our waters, or taking our plates. They did not refill our sodas. So maybe no refills? $ 2/soda each time? It was a nice rainy day, it was a relaxing visit. But with Indian food, I’m looking for that yummy complexity that cannot be replicated in my civilian kitchen. I did not find that here. But the price is right!

Okay so I’ve dinned here on two occasions and ordered a pick up too all in 2weeks lol. Must tell you the obvious, the food is absolutely delicious. The servers are really nice, fast and pay attention to you. My server even took time out to explain a few portions of the menu to me and went over the level of spiciness to make sure I had a good dining experience. They also add in a complimentary dessert when you dine in or a free glass of totally yummy mango lassi to sip on while you wait on your pick up ! I will definitely recommend this place !! I’ve had the butter chicken, the goat vindaloo, chicken tikka masala and their garlic naan! All great choices

I came in based on Unilocal reviews and it was certainly a good decision. The service was excellent and the food was some of the best in the area. I had the chicken tikka masala, curry, and garlic naan. All delicious and full of flavor. My favorite dish was the Tikka masala, it was exceptional. I will definitely be going back.

Who would give this place less than 5 stars? My girlfriend and I are addicted to Cumin India. The saag is a must have. If you’re anywhere near Hamden(and even if you’re not), I would highly recommend you try Cumin india.

My family has eaten here approximately weekly for years now. The food is very good, the service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. We always order considerably more than we can eat so we have plenty to bring home for leftovers the next day.

If you driving on I65, you could come in here for a quick dinner experience. The food came fast and was tasty. Gobi Manchurian was super good and spicy. I tried lamb kebab kurma, but u wouldn’t recommend it. the gravy tasted fine but the lamb pieces were hard and chunky. I felt like left over kebab pieces were put into kurma. Garlic naan was fresh and soft. Overall, a good quick Dinning experience on I65.

We happened upon this place on our way to Boston from NY. We had the lunch buffet and it was quite delicious. There were even a couple Indian-Chinese dishes which were a nice surprise. Servers were attentive and the restaurant was clean, albeit a little dated.

Lunch buffet was very disappointing. Tandoori chicken was burnt and tasted like it was fried. Paneer and chicken in the saag paneer and chicken tikka were tough. Kheer was bland. First batch of naan was burnt, but the second seemed warmer and fresher.

Went for a weekend lunch buffet since we were around the area. I found good reviews on Unilocal and decided to try out the food. It was not great to make us come back again. The aloo bhajiya had no salt. The tandoori chicken was not fresh. Chicken tikka masala, saag, panner masala, gobi beans, daal and rice tasted good. Goat curry was okay. Not a big fan of their desserts. Service was good.

My boyfriend and I went 3 pm on a weekday and there was no one else in the restaurant. Our server paid full attention to us, gave us complimentary drinks and desert, and extra rice! My boyfriend is from England which is home to some of the best curry and he said this was just as good. Honestly one of the best new foods I’ve tried(never having had real Indian before) and we can’t wait to come back!

Easily the best curries I’ve had in the USA. I’m from the UK where we take our Indian food seriously. We ordered takeout on a Sunday, and the buffet was in full swing — it looked delicious(next time!!!). Food was ready in 20 mins and absolutely fantastic. The curries were flavorful, perfectly spiced and the lamb was tender and succulent, the Tandoori chicken was wonderful and enough for two meals! We’ll definitely be back for the buffet!

High quality Indian food in huge portions at a very reasonable price! We got the goat curry and fish curry(goat dish was about twice the size of the fish dish), both of which were delicious and provided us with plenty of leftovers. The bread basket that samples the naan is HUGE. It’s supposed to be meant for 4 people, but I would say it would serve more that that too. With the curry and naan, I would say we have enough to last both of us two more meals. Service is very friendly and attentive as well. We were asked several times how our food was, which is refreshing considering how many times I’ve been ignored by servers. We also waited probably less than 10 minutes for our food, which was awesome. I drink water like a camel, and my glass was rarely ever empty. All the tables, restrooms, etc. were very clean and well-decorated, despite the somewhat shabby exterior. They also offer you a complimentary rice pudding at the end of the meal, which was a very deliciously pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this place if you’re a lover of Indian cuisine!

Second time back and we really enjoy it. I ordered off the menu — vegetarian tikka masa both times along with trying several of their other veggie entrees. Everything has been stellar. All the breads are excellent and you can sample a bunch with the bread basket. Wait staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.
