Nick Charlap’s Ice Cream

The Orange Chocolate ice cream, soft or hard is AMAZING!!! The pumpkin is good too! If you get a banana split you have the option of getting soft or hard. At the village of hamburg location they always give my dog a treat!

I felt like I entered a time machine and was brought back to the 1950’s upon entering this cute-​as-​can-​be ice cream parlor. There are old fashioned tables and chairs and even a jute box. The menu contains many, many, many flavors and the portion sizes are very generous. The cinnamon I chose was so good that I bought a half gallon to bring home. Super yum!

Love the homemade ice cream here! New flavored available almost every week. Great place to bring the family and walk around the village of Hamburg. I highly recommend it!

Delicious HOMEMADE ice cream and milkshake. You know, the ones made with real fresh cream! I ordered a 16oz vanilla milkshake for $ 3.64 (with tax) and a coconut chocolate almond baby cone for $ 2.99 (with tax). They have a mini arcade with old school games and the whole entire shop has a retro feel to it. The workers are extremely friendly and helpful.

This is one of those places where Buffalo locals have been going to for years and years. I mentioned to one of my coworkers that I’d been there this weekend and she told me about how it’s a family favorite for everyone to pile into the car and go down there when they’re down in the area.
So. Do you like ice cream? Or do you like frozen custard? Then you owe yourself a visit to this place. It is a diner looking place attached to a dairy. I used to visit a similar place when I lived in Virginia, and this is much the same: generous portions, a great bang for your buck. It was actually almost too much! I ordered a hot fudge sundae with the custard of the day (Tangerine) and it was a good size for me. Lee ordered the special sundae of the day, which was strawberry shortcake. Good Lord! It came in a banana split boat, with multiple scoops of ice cream, strawberries, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. Even with my help, he couldn’t finish it.
Service was great, and the only thing I could want is for there to be umbrellas over the tables, as the sun gets pretty hot!

Good custard and a great selection of hard ice cream. Service is quick, even when the lines are long. Their specialty sundaes have some room for improvement (they are sloppy and sometimes just ‘thrown’ together). Overall, a great place to stop. Convenient picnic area just next door is terrific on late summer nights.

I swear that my wife and I go there every time we come to Buffalo to visit family. Sometimes, multiple times per visit.

If I could give more stars I would; I love this place, their ice cream is always smooth and creamy. Their Chocolate shakes are to die for, and are the perfect combination of thick and smooth. Seriously nothing says summer like going to Charlap’s and getting a chocolate shake!

This is a Buffalo original. A real old-​school milk dairy that makes its own delicious ice cream, and serves it in a 1950s parlor setting. Get a chocolate shake. I mean it.
