So Lee and I were on our way back from hanging out with some friends down near Angola, and we’d made a few geocaching stops on the way back. It was getting hot. It was time for some ice cream. We checked to see what was close, and this is what popped up. I was honestly a little bit disappointed with this place, price wise. Their sundaes are good, and they have a nice selection of ice cream to choose from. The amount of ice cream for the price was not that great though. I’m not looking to enjoy a gallon of ice cream, mind you, but although the ice cream was good, it was nothing spectacular, and I am not sure if we’d come back.

I don’t know why everyone’s so disappointed that they serve Turkey Hill ice cream. They’re not claiming to or trying to be an artisan ice cream stand(side note: if you’re looking for that, try Lake Effect in Lockport; also excellent). They serve a great product, are fantastic people, love that their local, and do a few specials like fresh squeezed lemonade slushies(amazing!). They are my go to ice cream place! **And really, fresh squeezed lemonade or limeade slushies, it doesn’t get better!**

There are lots and lots of ice cream places out there… And, I think I’ve probably tried most of them. This one is as cute as can be with great seating both inside and out and a bunch of inventive sundaes on the menu. I was a bit disappointed that they scoop«Turkey Hill»… not that it’s bad… I just really prefer homemade… or at least«Perry’s» since it’s local. I was surprised though at the unusual choice of a twist of sorbet and frozen yogurt. Possibly healthier than frozen custard(less fat, but more sugar? who knows…). Black raspberry swirled with red raspberry(I forgot which was which). It was fresh, fruity, tart and delicious… a nice treat for a warm day.

I expected something a little other than Turkey Hill and Upstate Farms ice cream when I came here, so I was disappointed. Despite the mass-produced and distributed ice cream, it’s still a fine ice cream store that will surely fill your needs and will be a better alternative than going to a chain place(tastier and prices are competitive). There’s an outdoor patio(of course, there has to be!) as the inside is a little too warm /stuffy on the hotter days. I ordered an «Almond Joy» sundae which was delicious with freshly chopped almonds and nuts and a topping of whipped cream and a cone on top. The vanilla soft-serve it came with was tasty, but all that chocolate syrup they put in there was overkill. I thoroughly enjoyed it though and ate every last bite. My friend ordered a milkshake and although I didn’t try it, he assured me it was delightful. If I’m in the area, I’ll be back, but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to get here.

Felt kind of misled by the Unilocal reviews, while there is nothing wrong with the ice cream store, it didn’t live up to the high expectations. The ice cream selection was pretty bland, and it’s is from Turkey Hill, a brand I can pick up at my local grocery store. So it’s completely A-OK.

Reasonable portions(if you get the baby size… haha) for reasonable prices. If you like a lot of ice cream, consider the medium or — if you dare — the large. What an awesome late night treat!

Main Street Ice Cream is, by all appearances, just the kind of friendly neighborhood ice cream shop everyone wants to have next door, with fun signs on the walls, nice folks behind the counter, and some pretty delicious-looking flavors in the case. According to Merridy K, who first recommended this shop to me, the store has decided not to raise their prices this year, in order to continue providing affordable treats to their neighbors. So, as Smita C says: seems like the people here are as sweet as their sundaes. Though there are a lot of full-cream flavors from Turkey Hill Dairy(a PA-based ice cream producer), the tart yogurt with fruit is also a yummy, refreshing option for mid-summer. Not every ice cream shop in this area has it, so enjoy it if you live nearby!

Take a brownie, pour some homemade buttercream icecream made with local farm milk, now take some hot fudge sauce and top with little chunks of pecans, now what??? Just dig in!!! The best part of all is the people who serve it and make it are as sweet as this bowl of sundae. I saw that there so many Turkey hill brand icecreams but you cannot go wrong with the homemade choices. The bowl of sundae out-sweetened the tart yogurt with fresh strawberries and blueberries. Anyways i like to use fruits only for my breakfast juice & wine. The store captures the locale atmosphere with the presence of lively crowd, historic ice cream themed décor and a patio seating outside to glacé the«main happenings» on the main street! There prices are so low that none of the chain stores beat that. Even if they do, then you cannot beat the mood of the place. In fact, even when you are standing in the line, you will be busy looking at posters & reading historic facts. Worth taking the trip from Williamsville to Hamburg !

Talk about the small business owners putting themselves out there for customers– I applaud the owners of Main Street Ice Cream for a recent email that they sent out to us customers. I’ve copied it below, please read and then show your support for these fine members of our lovely village. Three cheers for them!!! Opening tomorrow — Thursday, March 8th Let Spring begin We at Main Street Ice Cream are sick of everything going up in price, so have decided we are going to put our foot down and did not increase prices this year on our menu items. We are a family oriented ice cream parlor and care about you, our customer, and want to make your family outing a fun event, not a stressful one. Most other places raised their prices but try to make you feel better by giving you a coupon every couple weeks. We at Main Street Ice Cream are going to cut back on advertising and coupons and pass that savings on to you everyday. Same great quality products, with even a few new products this year. Believe me this is a little hard to do, since most of our items went up in price, so we are going to ask you — our loyal customers and friends to help. Pass this email on to everyone you know, put it on facebook and get the talk going. «Go to Main Street Ice Cream — we are fighting back and not going to take the price increases any more.» «You deserve it» Hope to see you this weekend.

Stopped in here this week and had a hot apple cider. It was delicious! Super strong tasting and with cinnamon on top it smelled like hot apple pie. I wish I would have gotten one of the novelty ice creams, they had a chocolate dipped coffee ice cream treat on a stick. Can’t wait to go back. The staff are always extremely friendly and talkative!
