I love this store, but maybe they’re close now? Because I came here today and last Sunday, they always were closed. I don’t know what happened:(

If you read all my other reviews about pasta places on Unilocal you will see that I have been disappointed by all of them, even some that were supposedly quite good. My search for an excellent pasta place in the Bay Area is over. This is hands down the best pasta I have had, probably even in the US! We tried the butternut and the mushroom raviolis, as well as the chicken cannelloni. All the pasta was cooked to perfection(al dente), and the sauces were simply right on. Even the meatballs we ordered for my daughter were unexpectedly delicious! Ok, I will agree that the place is not very fancy, and would not be my choice of a date night. And yes, the service is good and family style, but you might have to wait a little(hello people, have you ever traveled to Italy or any other Mediterranean country??). I think even those things are what make it more authentic and worth visiting. I am glad the place has such a high average rating: this is a small Italian jewel tucked away in an unlikely place in Half Moon Bay.

Small, quiet little restaurant and deli close to the beach in Half Moon Bay with outstanding food. Family owned and operated, second(or maybe third?) generation. I had beef and spinach, my friend had the chicken rosemary. The ravioli was excellent — large, with enough filling that you can easily taste it. Pasta was handmade in-house, cooked to a perfect al dente. You choose your sauce. Mine was minestrone, his was white sauce. Both excellent. There is a deli out front with lots of housemade items and gourmet products. Service was pleasant and efficient. Quiet and peaceful. Tiny place. Great ambience.

Very nice experience. The servers were extremely nice. The selection was impressive and I thought it was fantastic that you could see the family making everything by hand. Tortellini’s has a lot of charm and is worth a visit. I had the gelato and it was great.

A little piece of Italy in Half Moon Bay. You may be detoured from visiting here due to the vast Italian restaurants in the area. But you’re missing out. This restaurant is very authentic. I’ve spent a good amount of time in Italy. This place brings me back whenever I step in the door. The people that work here truly care about their customers experience and the food they provide. The house made sausage is hard to beat. Love the Calabrese sausage and Calabrese sandwiches. All their tortellini and ravioli plates are exceptional. And they allow you to chose your sauces. All the sauces are really good. What can I say, they aim to please! And I like that! Besides all the original, authentic, Italian dishes they serve they’ve got plenty of other Italian delicacies. Imported gelato, jams, candies. You name it they got it. They also have a fresh pastry case. I’ve tried all their custard and cream filled pastries. Every pastry is fresh and delicious. A+!

Came here for lunch with my wife today on our way to Venice Beach. It was a great decision! The Unilocal reviews definitely speak truth about this place. We both love cozy homely places like these. We tried the grilled chicken pasta and eggplant pasta and both were perfect! Highly recommended lunch/brunch stop on your way to the beach!

I love this place! This is one of my favorite places to visit whenever we head out to Half Moon Bay! The service is unmatched; everyone is so friendly, warm and welcoming, they make you feel like part of the family! We love coming here for the raviolis. My favorite is the lobster raviolis topped with meat sauce, though the others we have tried have been great as well. My husband also loved the meatball sandwich and the sausage sandwich. What we really come here for though are the desserts, yum! We had Tortellini Originali do our wedding cake and our other wedding desserts. They made us a smaller, beautiful, just what I wanted, carrot cake for my husband and I to cut. We then had 300 of the petite eclairs and cream puffs. Our guests went crazy for them! Wow, the flavor is just amazing. Truly the best cream puffs and eclairs I have ever had. Some of our guests still talk about how great the desserts were! Thank you for helping make our wedding day memorable!

It is not my intent to slander a family owned business. My husband and I did not have the flu(please refrain from diagnosing us as you are not a MD). We consulted with a a Doctor after our symptoms became worse– who told us that it was what we ate. He then mentioned that something must have been very wrong with what we consumed for us to have a reaction so quickly. We ate nothing all day, it was the first(and unfortunately, last) meal of the day. I’m sure your regulations are fine and i hope you tell the truth when you say that no one else got sick. But, my husband and I did get sick. Throwing up all night is not the flu. It’s food poisoning. I clearly stated that even though it tasted weird, we continued eating. So, there is no reason for that question to be asked. I really wish we stopped eating because it literally ruined our weekend. You can believe that it wasn’t your food– but we obviously know otherwise. I constantly write reviews of restaurants(good and bad) and it is my choice to write this review on Unilocal.I am not sure questioning why I wrote it seems professional on your end. I do not need to justify the reasons why I wrote the review. You should only know that the review is HONEST.

We were torn between Tortellini Originali and the BBQ place in the same parking lot on our drive from SF. I’m not huge on eating out Italian unless I know it will be good. This did not disappoint!!! We ordered a hot Italian sausage sandwich, a caprese salad and a kids spaghetti for my son. I barely got a bite of the sandwich before my husband devoured it! It was the perfect mix of fresh bread, sausage, sauce and fresh peppers. I got the caprese which looked like nothing fancy at all and I wasn’t expecting anything great since it was pre-prepared and wrapped in saran wrap in the fridge… best caprese I have had! The basil, tomato and cheese were beyond fresh and the dressing was the best yet! My mouth is watering just thinking of the dressing! Perfect blend of oil, balsamic, garlic and cheese!!!

I can’t say enough about this place. It is a fantastic local Italian place — the best in town! It is a casual place — but every time you walk through that door, you feel like family. Come in, sit down and enjoy an amazing meal. Don’t have time to eat there? Take some fresh pasta to go! Seriously cannot be beat! My sons favorite is the pumpkin ravioli or the butternut squash ravioli. The kid will eat that every single day. My other son likes the«mac and cheese» they make for him out of the small pasta noodles. My recommendation is the chicken ravioli with a rose sauce — yum! But really, anything you get will be tasty. Oh, and you may need to ask for a kids menu.

This place was really difficult to find especially since it is in the middle of a strip mall and very inconspicuous. I ordered a meatball sandwich after about a 15 minute wait(even though i was the only person in line) and was seated. The bread on the sandwich was average and nothing special and the meatballs were good. It wasn’t as good as the people on here led me to believe. Maybe they appreciate that it is a family run restaurant and give it props but you have to have good service to go along with it. The worst thing about this place and why it deserves such a negative review is because of the cleanliness. There were flies everywhere and I mean everywhere, which is why this review is only 2 stars. If you’re running a restaurant, I do not want any pathogen carrying insects around my food both where it’s being prepared and where it’s being eaten.

I really like coming here bc the food is fresh, tasty, wonderful staff, lots of great desserts and plenty of parking. Finally a place that is not crowded and have a long wait for seating. The atmosphere is really casual and I enjoy the spacious seating all around the restaurant and outside. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The pasta itself is really tasty. The noodles are audente, the tomato sauce is zesty, and the meatball is superb. The fluffy parisian gnocchi is fantastic. It is light and perfect for lunch if you are not in the mood for heavy pasta.

My preschoolers stood on chairs to watch and wave at the cute older couple(and owners) making fresh tortellini. They waved back and gave my kids dough balls to play with. I thought the whole experience was pretty charming until the husband told me he watched the older lady shape a few tortellini and then chomp into a roast beef sandwich she had off to the side, then make a few more, and then *CHOMP*. Well the pasta still tasted good… This is a true family operation — in fact their teenage granddaughter took our order. From reading the articles on the walls, I gathered that the owner baked the cake for the Marilyn Monroe/Joe DiMaggio wedding when he was 19. My lobster ravioli in rose sauce(tomato + cream sauce) was excellent. My husband thought he detected a fishy taste but I did not. His chicken and rosemary ravioli was good but not as awesome as mine. The beef and spinach ravioli was quite good, and I’m not at all bitter that my kids preferred it to what I make at home.(Mine is frozen with a jarred sauce after all.) The red sauce that topped it was exceptional. The minestrone was fair, and the garlic bread wasn’t my style, though to be fair we ordered it without the advertised cheese. Actually, all of the pastas except the beef and spinach ravioli are without cheese, which is good to know if you are lactose-intolerant.(Not that we are. Yep, no freak-shows here.) The pasta entrees were all around $ 10(no accompanying soup or salad) which seemed expensive given the portion size. The almond torte samples were REALLY good. I almost brought some home. Maybe next time. And despite witnessing the roast beef sandwich incident during food preparation, I was really charmed by this place. This is definitely on my must-list during my next visit to the Pumpkin Coast.

I came here on referal, and just moved to the area… so Ive been wanting to try Tortellini Originali out. I hate being new to a place, because you walk in, not sure if its a place where you order first and sit down, or just sit down and they will take your order… After a couple minutes of confusion, someone came up to us and told us we can have a seat. Understaffed, and getting a little dinner rush, it took a long 5 – 10 min to get the initial greeting and water at our table… but finally it happened. The young waitress seemed very new, as I asked her a couple questions about the menu and she didnt really know anything, and twice had to ask her more experience co worker… which is ok… We tried the butternut squash ravioli, which comes with a honey glaze sauce & slivered almonds(which it DOESNOT say on the menu), the only reason i knew this is because I saw a picture of it on Unilocal… but when I asked the waitress didnt know what i was talking about, and when she found out which dish it was(butternut squash rav) she then also asked me «Which sauce; red, white, or rosae»… which confused me again because I thought it came with the honey glaze!!! so she had to go ask again, when finally the more experienced waitress just came to the table to answer everything directly… The food took a little longer than expected but this is ok, being that it was very good and fresh(i guess im just used to restaurants delievering food fast these days, and plus these raviolis are made in shop!) The honey glaze on the ravioli was really good, however they drench the ravioli in it, so half way through it gets really overwhelming… so I would ask for light sauce, or get it on the side… My wife got the Parmesan ricotta tortellini, and those were perfect… as far as the garlic bread… nothing special being it had just a toasted crumbly topping on it, with no real moisture. just dry and crumbly. We also tried meatballs in sauce, and the sauce and meatballs were very good and flavorful! Wanted a cannoli, but i guess they were out, so Opted for a whip cream éclair… I dont normally like eclairs, but this was by far the BEST éclair ive had! Solid 3 stars, with potential for 4 – 4.5 if service can be more effecient. Food is very good though, coming from someone who has an italian mother, and grew up on italian food. I hope to give it another shot soon maybe for lunch, being that i live very, very close!

This is a family run business, so I was really looking forward to checking them out when I read the reviews here on Unilocal. I was disappointed that they only served a small selection of sandwiches, and but they also serve hot pasta too. The only thing is it takes forever for meals to be made. The products they sell are limited and you should not confuse what other’s have said this being an Italian Market, it is not, they carry a very small select products. They only have a small amount of deli case products too. On the plus side the fresh pasta tasted great.

I wanted to give this place a much higher rating because it was family run and the people were really friendly but overall experience was just ok. There were only a few people working here with a full restaurant so the service was slow and when they did come around they were a bit clumsy and spilled water all over my shoe. My wife and I got the meatball sandwich and it was good but not as good as some of the other reviewers made it out to be. The meatballs were almost too big for the sanwich. We did order some pasta to go and had it for dinner and that was really good.

For really reals I haven’t written about this place yet? I feel like I have because I’ve told so many people about it, I guess. Some of the pasta salads were just OK in my book(I want to say the white bean barely got finished). So, maybe get one or two if they’re looking good to you but that’s not why you should be there. Reasons you *should* be there: 1) The sandwiches — I’ve had 2 — one italian sausage, one… something else(I think it was a Louie?) but both fantastico. 2) The pasta — Amazing red sauce, pink sauce, and meatballs. Just. Great. 3) The cream puffs — these things may have changed my life, not just in shortening it by a few minutes with their saturated fat content, but in that I don’t think I’ve ever had such a light, fluffy cream in a perfectly bite-able crust. I want to cry just thinking about it both because it was so amazing and I’m sad I don’t have one in front of me right now. 4) Great option when you’re in Half Moon Bay(the ol’ HMB as I just decided I’d start calling it) — good place to wrap up a day at the beach(careful that they close relatively early!) It is a bit pricey but worth a stop if you’re visiting the ol’ HMB(it works!).

One of my two go-to eats when in Half Moon Bay. If you’re looking for something homey and comforting, definitely come here. Their housemade raviolis are delicious, and service is so incredibly friendly(they even brought out a bowl of water for our pooch while we were waiting for our food to come out!). I like to ask for sauce pairing recommendations when trying a new type of ravioli, which they have a large selection of. I’d never had a combo like butternut squash ravioli with a honey almond sauce before, but it works and is surprisingly well-balanced! Definitely on the sweet end but still savory. The lobster with squid ink pasta is good, though the sausage is more flavorful. The rosemary chicken ravioli is probably our favorite so far. Hoping to try the mushroom ravioli next time since it was sold out.
