Hands down the best coffee shop in Half Moon Bay. I honestly can’t say enough positive things about Granola’s, but here are three things that easily come to mind that make it stand out: 1. Coffee is the best in HMB. I’ve tried all the local shops and this is the one I go to EVERYDAY — except Monday because they’re closed. Brandon, please convince them to open Monday :) Before they opened I used to drive into SF every weekend to go to Ritual or Four Barrel, but I haven’t since. 2. The pastries are really good. Every morning I tell myself that I shouldn’t, but I always leave with something delicious. My recommendation is the ham and cheese scone. Or if you’re lucky they’ll have the donut muffin. 3. The staff are super friendly and make Granola’s welcoming. If you haven’t been, and live or are passing through HMB, you really should give Granola’s a try. You won’t be disappointed. — d

I knew Granola’s had great coffee and ridiculously good cookies, but I didn’t stop there most mornings because they only seemed to have oatmeal for breakfast. I found out today that they have awesome egg and cheese sandwiches! Order this one: everything bagel with egg, cheese, spinach, sliced tomato, and a little bit of cream cheese. It’s so good, especially with a latte.

Check this place out! If you’re in HMB and looking for coffee better than Starbucks or Peet’s, with way better ambiance, give Granola’s Coffee House a try. The positives in other reviews are on point. All of it. Best coffee in HMB. Awesome, awesome, awesome baked goodies. And an adorable inside. Love this place!

We spent about a fortnight travelling around SF and the NorCal region(out as far as Yosemite and down as far as Big Sur). This was the best coffee and bagel, and the friendliest staff(I think they could even be siblings), of the entire trip. Loved the vibe inside and the little caravan thing going on outside. Highly recommend if you’re after something better than most of the offerings in the US(seriously, 80% of the coffee and cafes suck in my experience so far).

What a great hidden gem of a coffee shop! Granola’s is probably one of the top non-chain places I have had coffee in the Bay Area. It opened last October and I have driven by it without even noticing it until this week. Don’t let the nondescript outside appearance fool you; the inside is cozy and warm, filled with wood-themed furniture and plenty of room – great atmosphere all around. The shop is separated by several areas with different types of seating(e.g., a booth-like area, two reading chairs, woodcut tables, and counters). There also seemed to be an elephant theme going on. Another interesting thing about Granola’s Coffee shop is the Streamline Camper out back; it serves as an additional seating area. I’m so tall I had to crouch getting around inside but I suppose it’s a novelty some might enjoy. While inside, I opened a random cabinet and saw a mask hidden in the most random spot. Eek! In another nook, I saw a calendar from 1947. Overall, I preferred the wood cross-section table and leather seats inside the shop. One thing that was mind-blowing was that the place was empty! What a nice change of pace; I was actually able to have a conversation at a normal volume while enjoying a tasty cup of coffee in a comfortable leather chair. This would not ever happen at a typically noisy Starbucks, Peet’s, or Philz. They also make amazing bakery with gluten-free and vegan options. I had a gluten free scone and oatmeal cookie(3.00 $) both of which were great. One more important thing to mention, look at the prices in the picture I posted of their menu. Refreshingly, my coffee was 2 bucks cheaper than Philz. To break it down, atmosphere/setting was 5 stars, coffee quality was 4 stars, and bakery was 5 stars. Part of me didn’t want to write this review because I saw none of my Unilocal friends had reviewed this place yet and I wanted to keep coming here and have it myself haha. Alas, I wanted to share the love.

Where else can you drink your coffee inside an Airstream? The coffee shop is super cute, great décor, good coffee, and nice outdoor seating. Definitely stop here in Half Moon Bay!

My new favorite place in town for a latte. The protein bar was delicious too. I will be going back many times and bring company with me. Friendly service. Explained all the goodies and their contents. Comfortable environment in which to relax.

This is the best coffee in HMB. The coffee is flavorful and strong. They have a large variety of food and drinks to order from at a reasonable price. There food is offered in gluten-free, vegan and standard. Not to mention homemade quiche and bagels! The interior is gorgeous and the workers are pleasant as always. It is a perfect place for a meet up with some friends or down time for work and studying. Wifi is free to any customer. I hope this place continues to grow as a business, love them.

This place is awesome!!! The staff are sooooo nice and friendly. The whole place smells incredible and the food is top notch. There is a very cool artsy rustic vibe. If I didn’t live on the other side of the country I would absolutely be a regular here.

I stopped by for a drink before I head back to San Francisco after a local festival. Got a bit lost because it look like it’s in the mall on Google Map, but it’s actually a small house tucked away from the sidewalk and behind a parking lot. Love the interior — especially the awesome furnitures. Only got an Americano because I already ate, but the pastries looked delicious. I am a bit surprise and suspicious when the Americano came without crema, but it was surprisingly good and smooth. Definitely one of the better ones I tasted.

The first time we visited was when we met the owners and they were super friendly and the coffee, scones and granola were yummy. We just visited again and had coffee to go and it was yucky but it was on a day I think the owners were off(Sunday). The staff seemed out of sorts on that day and the place was not busy. I think it is best to have a specialty coffee and not the regular coffee.

Went to Raman’s hoping he/they had gotten wifi, but, as I suspected, no. I needed a place with wifi, so I Unilocaled to find a coffeehouse other than Starbucks, Peet’s and Café Society… and found Granola’s. Because of it’s location, just north of the main shopping center on Highway 1, it can be difficult to get to if there’s traffic, but I had decided to try something new, and it’s worth the effort. From outside, I though, «Meh!» But when I got inside the place was beautifully laid out and decorated. it has a very homey feel, which I really love. Throw a bed in the corner and I’d live there. The tables, the chairs, the benches, the stools, the walls, the art. It’s all amazing and blends together wonderfully. It’s got the great feel that M’s had… but a whole lot better. The mocha was good, although nothing to write home about… but then I haven’t found any mocha on the coast between Santa Cruz and Pacifica that is. All of the problems are very minor and could be easily fixed. The biggest is the temperature. It would be much more comfortable if it were 4 or 5 degrees warmer. Second was the bathroom door. It kept moving. The door doesn’t latch unless locked and the window in the bathroom was open, so it kept flopping around, which was quite distracting. Either have the door latch when unlocked or make sure the window is closed.(I went in and closed the window so the door would stop moving.) Third is the electrical panel is just out in the open and does not fit in well with the décor. Put a picture over it, or at least color it to better match the feel of the wall. Fourth, the heater vent is bright white in the middle of a beautiful dark brown stained wood wall. It’s just so bright… black, brown, grey would be better… something so the heating great doesn’t become the focus of that entire wall. Finally, the music was a little too loud. I’m sure they would have turned it down if I had asked, but that’s not me. It’s new and SO close to greatness. I hope they fix the small things. A couple hundred dollars of simple repairs and this place would be five-star!

Granola’s has some of the best — if not THE best — coffee I’ve had in a very long time. The interior is beyond cute and definitely the best of any coffee shop I’ve been to. It’s so cozy and homey yet straight out of an architecture/interior design magazine. Granola’s reminds me of those places on Houzz you wish you could see in real life… and then you find it here! Very unexpected and amazing. I love this place and wish it was close by; I would come every day. Knocking a star for the hours. Closing at 4pm sucks, plain and simple.

This place is so cool! It has an awesome rustic charm about it and the latte is top notch! Not to mention the granola is out of this world tasty! Having Starbucks everyday gets a little old and when you find a place that is comfy and has good quality products, it’s makes for a great day.

This is the first decent cup of coffee I’ve found in Half Moon Bay. Seems strange its so hard to come by, but I guess everyone is energized by surfing and nature instead. The black coffee was quite good. Not too acidic, and a little fruity, which I love. I also tried an iced caramel latte, and it was exactly what I would want from that drink — sweet and flavorful, but you could still taste the coffee. The atmosphere of the place is definitely what won me over. The chairs and benches have fun cushions on them, and the tables are cut off tree stumps! There’s fun art everywhere, and lots of windows and light. I could hang out in there all day. And its just a short walk from downtown! I plan on trying the food next time, I saw someone with the chilli baked potato and it looked incredible.

For those of you that like the corporate(y) Starbucks & Peetes — this review isn’t for you(or maybe it will be and you’ll see the light and support local businesses on the coast). I remember when Half Moon Bay was without Starbucks and Peetes. We had LaDiDa, Raman’s was in it’s original spot, M Coffee still had it’s «c», Café Classique was still a little funky — you get the point. Anyways, I like local businesses. Granola’s is one of these places. It’s cute, friendly and welcoming. Granted, I was only in for a couple minutes to grab a cup of coffee and snack; but, from what I saw, I will be back. There’s a large area to sit and hang out with what looked like comfy cushions. The workers were warm and friendly — almost like family(maybe they are)? They have gluten free options — score! All I had was a drip coffee so I can’t speak to the prowess of their baristaness; but, I’m sure it’s top notch as well. Get in there and try ‘em(and forget about all that tall, grande and vente nonsense)…
