Made reservation for my son’s 13th birthday this past Friday and had it noted on the reservation that it was for his birthday. I called 3 hours prior to confirm time and the lady even mentioned the note so felt good that his bday was noted for the surprise… Arrived 5 min early, table was ready, and in the corner which was nice. Ordered food, of course birthday boy got both the steak and lobster. The lobster tail was not big, size disappointing considering the price($ 40+) Drinks had to be refilled at out request and at the end of meal, Waitress(not saying names here because she was kind, just perhaps overwhelmed) completely forgot the reservation note of it being for my son’s birthday dinner. I couldn’t remind her or say anything since he was obviously with us at the table and he would clearly see me talking to staff at podium if I tried based on where we sat, so we left disappointed that it wasn’t celebrated by the staff. I even asked before booking of they did something for birthdays, and they do. He loves seafood and it’s much better than Red Lobster, hands down, My sweet potatoe fries were luke warm with my salmon meal though the salmon was cooked perfectly. Disappointed in the size though as you can get a bigger piece for around the same price at Dutch’s Daughter in Frederick(i know because was there for dinner the night before for business). All other meals ordered(chicken Chesapeake, grilled chicken, fried shrimp and calamari) was perfect. Just wish our waitress was more attentive(my daughter’s salad was missed and had to ask someone else, who brought out our food, for it) and did a birthday surprise for our son.

Attending a sporting event at the community college nearby and wanted a quick quality lunch. Found them via Unilocal and decided to try out the crab cake sandwich… it’s AMAZING! Got it Togo with sweet potato fries and I’m very happy. The roll it came on is actually a homemade dinner roll and the tarter sauce was on point! This opinion is from a Southern Maryland gal who’s had her share of crab cakes! I will return again when I’m in town!

Easily one of the best restaurant in Hagerstown. Crab soup rocked. The staff are fantastic and attentive. I’ve never had a bad meal here In all the times I ate here.

Average at best, yet I can see how Hagerstown’s finest give it such great reviews. Plain… bland…fried crap and cliché praise for crab legs… not a surprise. There are tons of better places to spend your money. Staff was very nice and attentive though…

They have the BIGGEST king crab legs I have ever seen. Friendly waitress, food came out quickly.

We love Schulas! Crab cakes are always a good bet. Crab legs are good. King crabs way too expensive but still delicious. The oysters of any type are always spot on. My favorite are Oysters Rockefeller. Always fun to go here with family. I would highly recommend this place.

Their crab cakes are better than Phillips. And cheaper. Their staff is friendly, the desserts are awesome But, what more do you want, the best crab cakes in the universe for a really good price.

Overrated. They don’t season their seafood. Overpriced. I live across the street but avoid this place at all cost.

Caught a break on this one. We Unilocaled for a restaurant while on I-70 travelling from Baltimore to Pittsburgh. Great spot with a very friendly staff. We ordered the clam chowder, linguini with spicy red clam sauce, ½ lb burger, onion rings, hush puppies, cat fish strips, fries, and an amazing artichoke/crab dip. All good and would order again. Great find for a family passing through and totally made up for two lousy dinners in Baltimore during the same weekend.

We stopped overnight in Hagerstown to break up our trip and found Shulas through Unilocal.Loved it! Down to earth, a bit pricey, but worth it! Husband had swordfish special and the crab bisque, which he really enjoyed. I had ½ dozen large steamed blue crabs. Heaven! I usually ask for lemon butter for dipping but these didn’t need it. I would call ahead for a reservation and if you want crabs, ask them to hold some for you. Lastly, our server, Yvonne was awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We’ll be back!

The food was delicious, however the portion to price ratio seems a bit off. The hushpuppies were on point!

I had the steamed seafood platter but with fried clams! The clams were perfection and the shrimp and crab legs were also so good. The creamy crab soup was perfect, big lumps of crabmeat in every bite! And ask for Tiffany, she was great!

Was looking for a place to eat while pacing through Hagerstown, found Schula’s on Unilocal. Turned out to be a good find. Pleasant enough place, not a lot of charm, however we were there to eat after a long day on the road. Only sort of snag was the appetizer, menu claimed the Fried Calamari is the best you ever tasted. Sorry guys on a scale of 1 – 10 a 6 would be generous. Not that there was anything wrong, just didn’t have a lot of pop, tasted good, but bland. The entrée’s were a different story. I had the crap cake dinner, wife had salad with a crab cake. Both were outstanding. Some of the best crab cake I have had. Worth the trip. That’s all we had, but we did see another couple enjoying streamed crabs and they looked wonderful. If we pass though again, I going for those too!

We stopped in on our way back to DC and the food was surprisingly good. The ambiance is a little less casual than expected, considering the prices. It’s not on the main street off of an exit but if you have a few minutes to drive a little further, it’s worth it. The crabcake is their specialty and it was one of the better ones I have had. There is not much filler and it is moist but not too much mayo. We also had the fried seafood platter, which was on special. We enjoyed that as well and it’s a nice portion size. The best part of our meal was our waitress, Sasha, who was friendly, helpful, and accommodating!

I went with my family on the way to the Outlets. HUGE mistake. The portion size was ridiculously small. They had the whole fancy/classy-size portions without anything about the place being fancy or classy at all. The«platter» was fit for one person, with a measly side salad of a couple cucumber slices thrown in with a lettuce leaf and a couple of onion slices. My brother got the Chicken Chesapeake. Even for a 13 year old boy, it was too small. I got the Shrimp Scampi. There were six shrimps and five bites of pasta. Any meat or fish at all we ordered was extremely dry. The only thing that helped me get full was the complimentary bread and the side of the disgusting baked potato. That’s the only reason I didn’t rate this place one star. The waitress was friendly but very pressuring. She kept bothering us to order the more expensive items on the menu when we had clearly made up our mind. Then after we had already asked for the check, she was persistent on making us order dessert. I understand it’s her job but this is not the way to get customers to get back. I’d rather go to the food court in the outlets than eat here ever again.

I went for lunch on Dec 1st with my parents. There were hits and misses. I ordered the calimari — less than average in my opinion. I would not recommend it or order it again. My dad had the cream of crab soup and said it was delicious. For our mains — two of us had crab cakes. Perhaps the best crab cakes in Hagerstown. The sides were not as good — the cole slaw was bland. My father had fried scallops. They were good but a lot of breading. I would go again but I would avoid the calimari and cole slaw.

Crab cake was good with dipping sauce. I’d highly recommend. Cream crab soup was also good. Bartender a little rough. Seemed rude to manager. Not the absolute best but definitely worth a try.
