I love that this cheese shop is in our town. Amazing cheeses. Good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Great lunch. Nice little gift shop too! The owners are very nice and they do catering!

I was only in here once, and here’s why. My boyfriend and I want to go some place different for lunch so we’re walking down station ave and decide to give the village cheese shop a try. They have cheese, homemade salads and crackers and bread and things. Outside it looks lovely, like a nice little country style store. We go in and are greeted with a cold stare from the woman behind the counter. So we look at the selections and order some fresh homemade salads just for a light lunch. We sit at one of the available tables, actually they all were available because the place was completely empty. I don’t know if the lady working didn’t trust us or did like that we are generally a young couple with all the trappings of youth but she watched us the entire time as we nervously tried to have a conversation over our lunch. I was so happy when we finished and left. Although the food was good, not amazing but descent and warranting a second try, I’ve never been back and I never will. Its a shame because it seems like a wonderful place but maybe not for the reasons we went in. I’m sure if we had merely bought some manchego and left there would have been no problem.

Cheese is awesome, but truth be told, it’s not the real reason I find myself in the Village Cheese Shop & Bistro. The cheese is an added bonus. You can find just about any type of cheese you need and the bonus to that is you can order precisely the amount you need. If you need a small amount, you’re not stuck buying a huge hunk of it because they slice and wrap it as it is ordered. The real reason I find myself in the shop is to feast on the other goodies offered by the husband and wife owners/operators — delicious chicken salad, pasta salads, veggie salads, cole slaw, etc. Anything that is baked is prepared from scratch by the owners. BESTCHOCOLATECHIPCOOKIESEVER. The service is the best and the owners do everything they can to accommodate their customers. I’ve ordered deli platters from them to send to someone when there has been a birth or a death and they will make them immediately AND offer to deliver. Coffee and tea aplenty … have a seat and enjoy a cup o’whatever and nibble on something homemade prepared with love by a small business owner.

Excellent selection of cheese. The owners will order any unusual cheese you want. They are very friendly. I’ve had their bistro food too. It is very good too. I haven’t had anything bad there at all.

Picked up some gruyère and a baguette. It was delicious. I’ll be back to try some of their sandwiches. Very glad I found this place.

I want to like this place. It’s got a country store type feel, where half of the store is retail and and full of spices/sauces. The people were nice enough, and everything is listed on a dry erase board, no menu. All in all, the aesthetic is kind of cool. I got a turkey burger with salsa on ciabatta. It was boring and bland. I have had turkey burgers, and I never order one expecting to be floored by it. But this lacked anything special. Just meat, on bread with store bought dip. My date got an undercooked quiche. The spinach was more than likely frozen, and had begun a phase in its existence where it stopped being spinach and became green dirt. The cheese on it had no flavor, only consistency. Also had Gazpacho, which tasted like something had turned. It tasted like champagne. For drinks we had small plastic water-cooler cups that were refilled once. I hate to hate, but I did not like this place.
