Don’t use Unilocal.This place made me so upset that I had to leave a review. Don’t leave them reviews if you don’t want to get harassed and told you are a liar. God place people in this world who can not own up to their mistake. If you show proof that the order was put it and showed proof from grub hub that they said the order was being made. Even though something went wrong with communication from grub hub. ITS YOUR BUSINESS. Not grub hub. You passed the buck and now you are sending me private messages. Won’t be getting my business or my friends and family.
If I can give a negative score I would. I will never order food from here. I placed an order through grub hub and immediately my $ 70 was taken out my bank account and received a confirmation that my order was being prepared. Waited patiently for two hours for my food which I have a 6 year and 1 year old waiting for food at home. Now I call the restaurant and they are quick to place the blame on grub hub and take no ownership and not even one apology. Just got a lot of I don’t know what to tell you. If this is how you are going to run your business will never come back. Their are plenty of businesses out there. And to top it off I’m missing an order of sweet bananas. Was suppose to be two of them! My daughter did not eat fell asleep by the time I got home with the food. Had to pay someone to stay with my kids so I can drive to the restaurant. Both of my kids are sick did not want to take them out of the house. I have never left a complaint on Unilocal.But this is so frustrating that I had to share. I spent all together $ 150. To wait 3 – 5 days To get my original 70 back. Got no discount. Now I did get «ONE FREE FLAN» but missing food so I actually paid for it. So I got nothing for this experience. Thank you San Juan.

Awful service. They brought out the wrong dish (ordered grilled chicken breast) when I told the guy it wasn’t what I ordered he tried to play it off like yes a chicken breast is part of half a chicken. The half a chicken was over cooked didn’t even eat it.

Its a shame to give this place such a low rating because food is sorta decent but $ 15 for pork chops and rice is ridiculous. The service was very slow and nonchalant. great way to keep ppl coming. I can see why place is always empty.

First time going there and the food was awful. My grilled chicken was raw and the ox tails were disgusting. Very expensive for the little bit of food that you get, I definitely left hungry. Plus they took out a $ 11 gratuity for a tip out of the bill. And it was only three of us. Even the stuff on the menu had a different price than what was on the bill. I was charged more then the menu price. I actually took a picture of the check for evidence and pictures of the food. I was never going to give a tip, do to the bad service and food but they took out 20% tip anyway. They never offered us a drink we had to get up and get it from the refrigerator ourselves and they never offered us a Cup to pour our drink in. I will never go back and I will never recommend it to anyone, very sorry! Worst restaurant I ever went to, deserve zero stars! And the sad part about it is that my son took me there for Mother’s Day!!! Sure wish my son can get his money back!!!

This people make the best Mofongo there is. Prices are a little high for the type of establishment, but the food is very good.
Have the mofongo and ask for a parcha shake in milk.

I was so happy to go here and my boyfriend drove 1 hour and a half for me. I didn’t got the chance to eat breakfast or lunch that day. So, later that night my stomach felt sooo sooo horrible, I had a really serious diarrhea. 4 days already, and I still have it. I really don’t know what happen. I was really confuse. I search the Internet and probably the food they gave me was old?. I’m Puertorrican and this is my food and my country, I’m used to it. I may have to call out for sickness for work. This never happens to me. I feel really bad for them but I am never gonna go back again.

I have been here a few times. The food seems to have gone down hill. Very salty & the meat was very dry!!! The woman that works there needs to learn how to be pleasant to her customers. I smiled and said hi when we walked in, you could see it hurt her to say hi back! Sorry didnt mean to crack your face !! Wow!
And my empanadas was more like an EMPTY NATHA!

We just ordered appetizers which were just alright. The worse part is she added 20% gratuity, we were only 3 people, and again we only ordered appetizers. I will never go back there again.

Wish I could leave the stars out. I forgot I ordered from there about a year ago and was not happy with the food and I did it again and the food was tasteless. How the hell are they still open. Those of you who gave it positive reviews are you related or are your taste buds not working. Contact me and I will take you somewhere where you will be licking you fingers and mine. It was so bad I reached for a cigarette and I don’t smoke and even the cigarette was tasteless. I feel so stupid I paid so much money. No offense to the owner but there comes a moment when you have to ask yourself am I giving the people what they want

Stopped by for an early dinner with a friend, our server Clara was fabulous, provided great recommendations and service. However we had an issue with a groupon deal we had purchased, although our order matched the deal, the owner said she could not apply it. She did not give us an explanation as to why but instead, after mumbling in Spanish told the server to to reject the promoted offer, unbelievable.

The first time I visited the food was okay, I’m not absolutely sure what I got. The second time I had bisteak with onions an it was pretty good.
Today has been my third and last time visiting this establishment. Today my boyfriend had the pernil with rice an beans which was dry and flavorless, I had the baked chicken with rice and gandules which was also dry and lacked flavor.

Place is ok. Nothing really exciting to write about.
Food is ok-​bad. Sticky table and floor. Drinks from the fridge were warm and the service was terrible!!!

Great food, pleasant service. My cell phone was dead, and we picked this place old school style (sans Unilocal). I had mofongo with chicken, and my boyfriend had pernil with rice and beans. We also had a side of sweet plantains. It was soooo good. We ate in mid afternoon, and I’m typing this at 8:40, and I’m still stuffed! Boy, was I surprised to find such low reviews on Unilocal when we were back online? Food portions were great, the place had people in it, bill came to $ 30, and our waitress was really friendly. If we lived in the area, we would be regulars, hope you give it a try.

Hidden/​in set on summit Avenue, you can miss it. Went on a Monday afternoon and we were the only customers at the time. First time visit. The time between ordering and receiving was approx 20 min. However the wait was worth it. We had the red snapper and chicken chicharron and both were very good. I would recommend to them on the chicken to remove the grissel as it gets in the way of truly enjoying the white
alcohol served and they handle a higher volume of quick take-​out orders. I’d recommend having lunch and or dinner specials as they are well priced. Ambiance is more like dressed up lunchroom. casual wear. They do also deliver but make you order early as they close at 9pm for those late night snackers.

I was looking for a Puerto Rican restaurant to order food. I found Old San Juan and was excited. Walked in, the place was empty. The woman did not looked pleased at all. Took her about ten minutes to even acknowledge us.
I went here twice after. There is hardly any Spanish restaurants open on Sunday’s here. The owner is always looking disgusted and even putting an order over the phone they always sound so miserable.
There is a young man who works there and he is very nice and pleasant. Always happy to service us.
There is also a young lady who works there. I guess she brings her child which she has to attend to every 5 minutes making it hard for her to focus on her job.
The food is average and overpriced. The customer service is horrible and honestly I don’t know why they are still in business. I purchased a groupon and have been calling them all morning. No answer.
Never again. Don’t waste your time. Food is overpriced. Better chance going to Pastelles y algo mas. They have great service and awesome food that is reasonably priced.

I walked in looking for takeout. The floor was sticky under my feet. The tablecloths were dirty and the food looked like it had been there all day and not touched. The person at the counter didn’t even look up from her phone.
Yuck! Eat here at your own risk!

I ordered a chicken mofongo to go. Turned out to be very average. The plantain was too dry and so was the chicken. The curry with the mofongo was better but make sure you ask for more curry, coz it just isn’t easy to gulp the dry cooked food otherwise.
It’s good for a to go order and the ambience isn’t that great for a dine in.
I might give this place another try and hopefully this time I can savior the taste!

Went in on a Friday afternoon. Not busy at all. Staff member was eating at the counter and looked bothered that I came in. I was not properly greeted nor was I given a overview of the meals that were prepared. I had to ask which each dish was even though I had some idea. The worker clearly had an attitude as she asked me, «To go?».
I got the pernil with yellow rice and beans. Looked tasty. was tasty but very salty! I’ve had better. Also the portion was somewhat skimpy compared to what you get at other Spanish restaurants. The rice was not filled to the top like I was expecting. The meal was about $ 8.
Would I return? Not likely. I know better spots.

One of my favorite spots to get chicken with rice and beans! I can not get over that chicken. I always get a nice couple pieces and the meat is so marinated it falls off the bone! I love that Puerto Rican seasoning. Then the rice and beans on the side hit the spot. They have a lot of other stuff like sandwiches and such. Haven’t tried them yet but I will update if I do.
I love the décor of the place as well. It is a very nice place to sit down and have a meal. It has a very warm atmosphere especially at night when the lighting is dimmed.
Also it says on Unilocal they are closed on Sundays (as well as the front door). I went today, on a Sunday, and they were open for sure. If I were you, if you crave them on a Sunday, It’s worth it to drive past and see if they are open. It is possible they are not open every Sunday but some Sundays.
Needless to say Old San Juan hits the spot for me!

Pernil, pernil, pernil ! Small portions !
The rice and beans were perfect– the pernil skin was awesome! Crunchy and crispy !
The only drawback was the meat — not as tender as I would like it to be– a little dry for my taste but edible.
My friend ordered pigeon pea rice with her pernil (cost more than white rice) it was ok. She thought the yucca was the best she had.
Service was decent, place was clean, came in at 1230pm for lunch and it was only us but after 1 it started to get busier.
I did spend $ 9 which included a can of soda (inka cola) — A Typical lunch cost in this area.
