Outstanding steakhouse in the Waukegan IL area. I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. I have to mention the steak fries. I know they are fries, but they truly were awesome cooked with some really good seasoning. I had some oysters Rockefeller and they were great as well. Worth the trip Service was top notch.

I treated my bride this past weekend to the special Valentine’s Day evening at Stevens’(they usually are closed on Sunday). My first impression was that the last time I was here that it was definitely an upmarket crowd. This most recent visit had a much more downmarket, casual and family oriented crowd than before. It seems to me that like there are fewer and fewer places that a couple can go out for a romantic dinner these days. Our service was very good to excellent, food better than average. The only thing that I was disappointed in was my lobster macaroni and cheese had a very watery sauce with an odd texture– I would have enjoyed it more if it had been a thicker and creamier sauce with a more distinct cheddar flavor. Otherwise we had a nice and relaxing evening even if it wasn’t as romantic as we had hoped when we made our reservations.

We come here quite often and are impressed with the consistency of the food. Staff is always pleasant and on their A game. Drinks are great, wine selection is decent and the steaks are amazing. Then after you are stuffed to the gills, they slam you with the phenomenal desserts. Some so good that we take one to go. If you are looking for a good steak house in the area, I highly recommend this.

This classy restaurant is located in a run down shopping center which is such an odd place. I will say the service was fantastic!!! The waitress was very attentive and helpful. The food was good. I ordered a house salad and the lobster Mac and cheese while my wife had a Caesar salad and ribs. Both my wife and I agree that the ambience is good, but the food was a little over priced.

One of the best in the area, if not the best. After several visits, the service and food remain top tier. While the name emphasizes steaks, the menu is very broad and has many different entrees to choose from, so anyone can find what they’re looking for. Pretty well stocked bar and a good selection of beer, wine and spirits available. Service has always been great. They have some very talented service people there, from wait staff, to those cleaning off your table during meals. On weekends, make sure to make a reservation if you want a table. I’ve seen them have to direct walk-ins to the bar area. Word on the street is an expansion is imminent, so that should give more people the opportunity to have a pretty nice dinner.

We went here tonight and didn’t have a good experience. We ordered an appetizer, salad, entrée, and side. The buffalo calamari was good and that was the only thing that was good. The salad, pot roast and lobster mac and cheese were not good. The server heard us say how bad the lobster mac and cheese was and took it off our bill. She mentioned that she didn’t like it either. The two stars are for the wine and server. We won’t be back.

I ate there last night having a bachelor night while my wife was out of town. I sat at the bar where the atmosphere was fun, but not over the top. They were clearly on a wait list but I was able to find a seat and was greeted almost immediately. I have a specific martini that the bartender made perfectly. I just got a salad and the Buffalo cauliflower. They fry the cauliflower instead of baking it which I didn’t like so much. The prices are a little on the high side which I don’t hold against a restaurant, but want people to be aware of. I plan on coming back for a full meal and have an entrée. I’ll know then whether the high prices are warranted. :) I recommend based on the service and that while I didn’t agree with the choice of frying, it was prepared well, tasted good and had a good presentation.

This is the best restaurant in the Gurnee area, hands down. In a land known for Great America Amusement Park and resties such as Golden Corral, Ruby Tuesday and Cracker Barrel, Stevens’ is a breath of fresh air. They have lovely private meeting space and top notch service too. Do get the brie soup and wear your fat pants tomorrow. Also indulge in the Stevens’ sampler. Their Buffalo version of calamari is also very good. It’s super yummy and a great presentation. Great place for a date night. Live music on the weekends, decent wine and beer options. What’s not to love, especially for Gurnee!

My husband and I have eaten numerous times at Stevens’ and always receive exceptional food and service. We love the family and local vibes. The lack of family-owned, down-to-earth restaurants in the Gurnee area is forgotten once you spend an evening here. Our favorite nights are Fridays when local bands play in the bar area. The staff behind the bar are always friendly and timely, even on very busy nights, which is often the case on Fridays. Plus they offer homemade potato chips for free — something a lot of bars don’t do anymore. Stevens’ is our go to for any special occasion or just for a drink on the way home. The menu is fabulous and we often have a hard time deciding on what to eat! We’ve never had a bad experience and we’ve been coming here regularly for many years. Keep up the good work Stevens’ family!

Our son just graduated from Navy Boot Camp on Wednesday. Last night was his 25th birthday and today is our 28th wedding anniversary. We wanted to go out to a very nice dinner to celebrate all the events. When I made the reservation, I told them about all of thes as oftentimes a restaurant will acknowledge the visit to their restaurant as special. Our dissatisfaction started when we arrived. We were greeted by the hostess and she acknowledged the birthday but did not say anything about the anniversary or his graduation. The coat room attendant had a glass of water on the door sill that made it difficult and awkward passing the coats over, for fear of knocking over the glass. The menu our son received said happy birthday on it. That was the ONLY acknowledgement of the events for which we came to the restaurant. Dinner was ok, not great as it should have been at a restaurant that received this many good reviews. The scallop appetizer was flavorless and the scallops were quite small. My husband’s lamb had two different kinds of sauces on it that was not complimentary and actually distracted from the flavor of the meat. The steaks my son and I ordered were actually very good and cooked perfectly. When my husband mentioned the situation with the lamb, the waitress simply offered to bring a bowl of ice cream to make up for it. Hmmmm… The waitress lacked personality and seemed to be doing her job by following some guide book rather than acting as a human being interacting with us. When we were done, I asked for my left over dessert to be boxed. The busboy took it, presumably to box it up for us to take. We paid the bill and waited for another five minutes and they still did not bring back the dessert. We just left, having to deal with the same situation at the coat room with the glass of water, only this time there was a tip basket that caused the same issue. We noticed the guests behind us actually knocked over the tip basket as they were retrieving their coats. The ambiance in the restaurant felt forced. The band was doing mike tests while we ate. When we have been to a nice restaurant, whether it is in areas in or around San Francisco, Los Angeles, or other major metropolitan cities, we have had much better experiences. We were disappointed that no mention was made of our son’s birthday or(although he was in uniform) of his service or accomplishment of graduation. One would think that at a restaurant that is as close to the Naval Base Great Lakes, that something would be said knowing the work these young men have to go through to become a Sailor. Nada. We will not be back.

this place is fantastic. Everything is really, really good. The appetizers are fantastic and they are all of good size too. The entrees are special and the specials are wonderful. I highly recommend the cowboy pork chop with the blue cheese crust. The bar is always happening and the main bartender is super freakin cute!

Service is okay, I wish the servers would be kinder for a steakhouse, food is great. Waitstaff won’t know much on the menu. It would be nice to have a morning meeting and have the servers try the food, know the dishes to recommend to their patrons… I prefer the lunch menu since they are the same as the dinner menu but saves you money. They’re a steakhouse so definitely keep up with their steaks but they have really good seafood options, chicken and the desserts are homemade… every morning in the kitchen and they are seriously the best.

I wanted to thank you so much for a special evening. My fiancé called to make reservations for Saturday evening. He had told the gentleman that answered the phone, we were celebrating our first date, and the next Saturday will be our wedding. Our server knew about the occasion, and we had an excellent booth waiting for us. We also were treated to our first drink to celebrate, and a dessert. We will be back, to celebrate many anniversaries in the future. Thank you for making a special evening, even better.

So this is really a review for their lunch menu… I have been here 4+ times, because its a nice place to go to lunch for special occasions… normally don’t spend more than $ 10 for lunch unless there is social factor… or someone is treating me… ;-)… Anywhoo… the grilled calamari here is usually AH-MAZing… soooo good its a mouthgasm. That is always my go-to appetizer and back then I would usually get the steak salad which was always good…(pescetarian now… COW eating is NONO) and light. Service is usually very good, and I like getting my OpenTable points… great menu with very reasonable prices. Definitely try it.

Ordered the dry aged 20oz T-bone steak. I must say that it was one really tasty, delicious steak. Had it cooked medium with a slight pink in the center. No sauce needed for this steak, the natural juices was enough to have a satisfying taste. I would highly recommend getting this steak.

Was In The area and decided to look up a place nearby. Boy was I glad I read the reviews. I absolutely loved it and so did my boyfriend. Definitely will be back. The trio appetizer options were phenomenal. And the steak and chips we each had were perfectly cooked. The baked potato, well what can I say about a simple baked potato, but it was great. Didn’t need to salt it or add anything else to it. Finger liking good. I loved this place. Highly recommend it.

One of better restaurants in Lake County, Il. I have had a business lunch, a casual dinner and drinks while watching a friend’s band play in bar in last 6 months. Each time the experience was excellent. Upscale feel with white table cloth tables and excellent service. Great variety of menu choices and reasonable prices. Last time I was here I had the pork chop which was tasty and juicy. My wife had the trio of tenderloins with a couple of different sauces which she loved.

My wife and I visited for the first time in early January after hearing nothing but outstanding reviews from others. On our first visit, we arrived just before 5 and sat in the newly renovated bar booths that our Waiter told us about. We tried the appetizer pick 3 trio and chose the Caprese, Lamb Chops and the Fried Calamari. I was not a fan of the pita bread with the Caprese(only food complaint) but to each his own. For Dinner, my wife and I split the Cowboy Ribeye(Med-Rare) and added on a few Scallops. The Steak was cooked to perfection and the scallops were seared in a flawless manner. Too say the least, the food was exceptional. The atmosphere was pleasant and although we sat at the bar, the noise level was tolerable. On our second visit, we were planning our food attack as it was our anniversary!!! We once again went with the trio appetizer combo and loved it. For dinner, I went with the Tenderloin Trio Medallions(rare) and my wife the Salmon. Both were exceptional and the baked potato she enjoyed as her side choice was talked about for days. We were treated to a delicious offering of Crème Brûlée as a token of their appreciation for coming in on our 6 year Anniversary. It was a great evening… Now for the not so great minuscule parts…1. My martini was not to my liking and I had to walk to the bar to get it fixed as our server was inattentive at first but she made up for it at the end. and 2. The Salt and Pepper shakers were half-empty on the table(pet peeve of mine). Those two reasons were why I did not give the Restaurant 5 stars but they wouldn’t let me offer a 4.5 rating!!! Thanks Guys… we will be back!!!

My boyfriend and I have been to Steven’s a few times and I tried almost all of their appetizers and all of them are phenomenal! They also have good selection of beer and wine and the owners and bartenders are attentive and friendly. Their free warm bread and home made chips are amazing as well! They have live music every Friday night and so far, the music has been really nice as well. The armosphere is from formal to casual, since it is a steak house but if u sit at the bar, people are still dressed nicely while still enjoying a nice meal and drink:)
