Do not eat at this Golden Corral! I ate at the Golden Corral in early February and 2 of the 4 of us ended up with a severe form of food poisoning. One of whom was sent to the ER for several days and will take at least a month to recover. The Grill /food prep area is just dirty. upon inspection of State Health Department inspections, there has been many many complaints about this being a dirty unclean restaurant.

It’s a Golden Corral. Cheap, unhealthy and low-quality food is their trademark. Skip the Corral and choose one of the many better food options Kenosha has.

For what it is, I guess it’s OK, but a lot has to do with just how crowded the place is when you’re there. We visited for early dinner on a Sunday, and the place was quite crowded. If for that alone, I would only give 1 star. But the restaurant can’t control their volume, and I’m sure, if it were less crowded, our experience would have been better. 3 or 4 stars. probably not — but they do have a good selection and of reasonable quality. If «bellying-up-to-the-feeding-trough» is your style, just try to visit early on a weeknight — I’m sure it’s not too crowded, and you could do much worse.

They are getting one star because the server was great. The food was HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE! Fried anything was terrible. Goodness it was gross. I kindly spoke with the manager about this and he be came angry. I said can we please just pay for our kids(they had lots of pizza) and all of our drinks. He said, «so your telling me you ate nothing?(asked this rudely about 4 times during our conversation) and he started to get loud… Well yes, yes we did eat some food, how else would we know it was awful! He wanted to see our plates and even asked our waitress if we ate. What put me over the edge was the marshmallows my kids looked forward to were hard. Ribs were cold and hush puppies hard as a rock. I just can’t believe the manager, how rude! Why would we lie? We just wanted our $ 30 bucks so we could go eat dinner else where.

Maybe unfair… I’m sure it would be 5 stars to people that think«hmm, I miss the feeling of diarrhea and massive cramping». Perhaps prisoners of war who are trapped in cages submerged in water to their waist and surrounded by rats may… just may… use this food to poison their captors. On the plus side this place is most likely devoid of cock roaches, as even they have standards. The ‘gol cor’ as the sign so elegantly illuminating signifies the place as is a once of a kind treasure trove of what happens when Walmart shoppers work themselves into a feeding frenzy. May God be with you if you go here, please call your insurance professional and ask of it qualifies as suicide or not… think of your children.

Food tasted ok, beverage tasted like chemical used to wash dishes with, smells really bad. I did not enjoy eating there.

Do not eat here. For your health and safety. If there was a way to rate a restaurant 0 stars that would be my choice. This was the most disgusting place I’ve ever walked into, I have been in public restrooms cleaner then this restaurant. There was trash and food littering the floor, I received 4 dirty plates back to back. They didn’t have any silverware for the first 5 minutes I was there, my table was sticky and the cup they gave me had something crusted inside of it. I came here for a nice large salad for dinner and they were out of everything in the salad bar except spinach. The salad bar itself was so gross and messy that I was afraid to even get the spinach. Since there was nothing for salads, I decided to try something else, the baked potatoes were hard as a rock, everything was smothered in butter and soaked in grease. I waited by the«order from the grill» area for what felt like forever and no one behind the counter asked me if I needed help… even after I said excuse me am I in the right line. At this point I’m pretty furious and as I walk back to my table I notice a filthy rag hanging over the side of the counter with the plates and silverware, it was so dirty I could smell it, a server grabbed it, «washed» off a table and then tossed it back on the counter by the clean plates and silverware. I set my plate down back at my table… there was no way I was going to attempt to eat anything else. As I pushed in my chair I noticed a broom and full dustpan behind my seat with flies buzzing around it. I walked to the front and asked the manager for a comment card and he tells me to call the number on the receipt if I had a problem. This restaurant is so gross, so dirty, and so unkept that I will be filling a complaint with the health department.

Very disappointing… Stopped while traveling; it was right off tollway. Saw commercials and thought we’d give it a try. Didn’t have high expectations, but it was inexpensive and convenient. I guess you get what you pay for. Bottom line… Food was not the highest quality-they kept running out of major entrees(over half the trays were empty at any given time) and it seemed to take a long time to replace entrée items; facility was a bit on the rundown side; cleanliness was marginal; staff and atmosphere was unacceptable. The servers/staff were clearly exhausted and very cranky. A very loud and arguably angry announcement was made every 30 seconds about children not being allowed at buffet line without parents. My 5’8″ 14y/o son was refused service and told he needed a parent to get food-lol. After waiting in a line 15 minutes for the steak to cook, a very unhappy looking attendant put a 2“x 2″ piece on my plate. I asked if I could have a second piece and got the head nod for no; despite seeing two women ahead of me walk away with 3 and 4 pieces each??? The table attendant(who didn’t speak English) kept trying to take our plates what seemed like every 2 minutes(while we were eating). The English part is relevant only because we politely said we were still eating and she tried to take the plates anyway. Not one staff member said please or thank you, smiled, or asked how anything was. The entire staff mentality was«get in; get out». Last, GC’s website says they offer a military discount-it came to $ 1.00 off a $ 50.00 check. Sorry GC… Won’t likely return for a second visit.

I came here because other people wanted to come to this buffet to eat instead of eating at Six Flags. It gets advertised a lot on TV so I hoped it was going to be good. I regret that decision, this place is very dirty. I can only imagine how gross the back must be. I asked for a medium steak and got one that was all bloody when I cut into to it to take a bit. They have a lot of desserts, but it takes a while for them to put food out again. The selection is very limited. They also have a lot of employees, but no one is cleaning the stations at all. I will never make the mistake of coming back to this place again.

Convenient location, not really clean(dirty plates and silverware), nice employees, mannerless children running around. Average buffet. Better variety than Old Country but quality of meat is a level, if not two, down. I was excited for the steaks they make because I mean, hey, $ 11 dinner including steaks and ice cream? Sounded awesome. But I took a bite. It was 40% fat. It had that slimy fatty taste that steak just shouldn’t have. Bad quality I guess. It’s not like I was expecting superb meat but it was just way too fatty for my taste. Same with all the soups — lots and lots of oil and seasoning. The breads were great, warm and freshly made. The salad bar did not look very fresh. They have all the ingredients on display in the back of the kitchen so it LOOKS a little fresher but like all buffets, they leave the lettuce and veggies out to wilt or dry up and the heavy dressings pretty much defeat the purpose of eating the salad. I didn’t even bother touching the salad once I got to my seat because the longer I stared at it during my walk from the bar to my table, it seemed like the dryer and dryer it got. If you’re looking for salad, go to Sweet Tomatoes. And if you’re looking for good meat, go to Outback. But if you’re ok with sub par buffet food with lots of variety — Chinese, classic American, tacos, ice cream, cakes, brownies, chocolate fountain — this place will do it. Personally, the only thing I look forward to is the dessert bar and Mac n cheese when I come here.

Huge selection of food… But honestly, everything seemed very dirty. As much staff as they had, all the stations should be wiped down often, bathrooms should be stocked, and CLEANED hourly, Etc. I was honestly tempted to step outside and have my daughter Pop a squat, that’s how dirty the restrooms were. For $ 65 that we spent, I expected way better. I hope not all golden corrals are this way.

I will never come here again! My son and I stopped in at this location tonight(for the first time) after visiting Gurnee Mills, looking forward to both of us getting the things we like off the buffet. Upon paying for our meal, getting our seats, etc. we walked the buffet and discovered LOTS of dishes were completely out, more than one kitchen could dare to dream of replenishing in a timely fashion(worked in restaurants for years– no buffet should ever be this depleted). Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, pot roast, pizza, and tons more empty on the serving line with people standing around. As we stood waiting for things to be filled I could see how grimey and dirty the restaurant was and decided we were not going to pay for this experience. When we asked for a refund, having had nothing, there were no issues getting our money back, but not a single employee, or even the MANAGER who gave me the refund, asked me if there was anything wrong with our dining experience(we had just arrived– it was evident that something must not have been right). I didn’t even bother to speak about the issues because it was obvious customer satisfaction was not at the forefront of this Golden Corral location. There are so many great places to eat in this area, AVOIDTHISPLACE.

I went here in April 18th, 2015(Saturday night about 8:45 pm) as we went to Keylime Cove for the weekend for 1 of my friends daughters birthday. I am NOT a BUFFET person because I do not eat a lot but I tell you what, that Saturday night I ate seem like a ton! The salad bar was amazing as well as everything thing else I ate, the manager was a guy & our waiter was black guy who made my friends daughters birthday extra special, bringing her balloons & everyone coming to sing Happy Birthday to her, the chocolate fountain with fresh strawberries, pineapple, & bananas was AMAZING! My steak I asked to be cooked med rare was done perfectly & had NOGRIZZLE& Yucky fat(I hate that) I hv never been to a Golden Corral but this was surly a GREAT experience & anytime I take my boys or go around that area I will go there no matter what! Like I said the STAFF even made it better just being AMAZING, FRIENDLY people! I am a foodie & I want what I pay for & I can not believe how GOOD the buffet food was, it was not dirty, nasty, or unorganized, it was stocked with EVERYTHING& everything looked fresh not all brown from sitting for hours at a time. The ONLY thing they ran out of was Fried chicken & it was ONLY the Breast that they did not have but they were more then glad & did not make me feel bad for asking if they could drop me some, now that is customer service especially because we got there late & even stayed as others did a half hour after closing time just because everyone was that nice & they were not pushing anyone out or making anyone feel rushed! The coolest thing is I had no more room in my tummy but on my way out I wanted some cotton candy & i walked out the door with my warm just done cotton candy & no one said, «NO, you can’t take that!» that would of made me sooo mad because it is cotton candy, I mean c’mon I was stuffed but I surly wanted the cotton candy that night in out Hotel room watching movies! Thank you Golden Corral for letting me see a different light in Buffets! Again who ever hired the manager guy & the staff did a real good ob & again our waiter, darn I wish I could remember his name but do know his daughter has a Birthday in April was truly one of the nicest waiters I have EVER, EVER, EVER had!!! Keep up the good work, the good food, & good atmosphere & you must being doing something right because the place was packed but still super clean & very fresh foods, was not disappointed in 1 thing! Going to the Golden Corral in Merrillville Indiana tomorrow because my 4 yr old son LOVED it so much & he graduates from Pre-K tomorrow, so I hope it is as amazing as this one & I am truly sorry it took me over a month to write all this but have seen some bad things about the one I live close to in Indiana, will keep y’all posted but this one was OVERTHETOPAWESOME!!! Can’t wait to go back for the food & to see the staff as they were just that nice.

We have been here a few times and it’s usually very enjoyable, not so this time. We arrived about 4:30pm and the restaurant was very busy, usually someone takes you to a seat, today we were told to seat ourselves. The floor in the restaurant was filthy, napkins, silverware and food lying all over, not a good site. The food was as up to standard as it always is. At one point, both my wife and I went to use the restrooms and they were absolutely disgusting, water all over the sinks, piles of toilet paper in the stalls, very poor maintenance. As we were leaving a man who was apparently bleeding for some reason or another was seated at a table behind us, he was standing there holding a bloody white rag to his mouth, he would put it on the table, seat his child, then pick it up again. He should not have been let in carrying a bloody rag with him, that settled it for us, we decided at that point it was time to go. Couldn’t find a manager to talk to, so we left. This was our 3rd and final visit to this particular location. If ghetto pit locations are your thing, then by all means go here, if you like clean, sanitary establishments, stay away, stay far FAR away from here.

We arrived about 40min before closing, expecting the choices to be limited that late in the evening, to our surprise there were many choices, the food was very good, and the staff was friendly. A new manager named Ziya is working, and was very accommodating, seemed efficient in the job he was doing and treated his staff with pleasant manner. The waitress was quick to replace a red birthday balloon, that a child at a table near us lost. It was overall a very good experience and we hope to return again soon. Congratulations on your hiring choice of this new manager.

Was actually not expecting much after reading other reviews but figured what the heck. It’s better than OCB, the fruits and veggies were fresh. Everything from MANY entrees and side dishes were good. HUGE dessert area with a chocolate fountain(for those of you who like that). All in all Id go back and enjoy it again. It was crowded but manageable. Clean. Employees were polite. Better fish fry than most restaurants who only serve it as a special. Happily surprised.

I’m writing this review for the people who don’t live in the area and are simply visiting. My advice is, don’t eat here. Generally Golden Corrals are great places, however this location is an exception. This location relies on it’s good name to pull in out of towners who are in the area for 6Flags, or to see their son/daughter graduating Naval boot camp, or perhaps staying at Key Lime Cove. Most locals will not come here, because this is generally a come here once and never again. Simply said, this place is dirty, crappy wait staff, and the food is of poor quality. Okay, granted, perhaps you’re not expecting grade«A» beef or plump juicy chicken at such a place, but I find even what they do server out, it’s not prepared well and much of it gets dried out quickly. The other turnoff here are the kids. Now, I have my own kids, and know first hand that the younger they are the more of a germ carrier they are… and this place has nothing to stop young kids from sticking their hands into everything. So the scene is, kid wipes nose, then takes same hand and pokes his fingers into the mashed potatoes, or picks up a chicken drum stick only to put it back. The dessert bar is even worse! My advise, don’t come here. Rather, go to Red Robin, Toshi Sushi & Grill, Giordano’s Pizzeria, or Steve’s Restaurant.
