Great Clips

This is a great place to get a haircut. The stylists are friendly and professional, the prices are great, and my family can get three haircuts done at once.
I strongly recommend downloading the Great Clips app and checking in online. The app lets you see how long your wait would be, so you can determine if it’s a good time to go. You can check in, and do something else until it’s near the time it recorded your wait time is.

We decided to try Great Clips as opposed to our usual kid snips for my 6 year old. During his hair cut, a manager was yelling at the woman cutting his hair, making he and my husband very uncomfortable. About an hour after we got home, I noticed only one sideburns had been trimmed. Than this morning, I noticed the front of his hair was cut at a noticeable angle. My husband is going to fix it because we don’t want to go back.

Worst haircut I have ever received. I went in not expecting too much because all I needed was a quick trim and clean up. I am sitting here styling my hair this morning and I keep finding more and more wrong with it. It is slanted and uneven in numerous places and the stylist claimed she could not cut some places due to damage, which I have never been told in my entire life. She did not deserve the $ 5 tip I gave her. She didn’t even deserve the $ 14 it cost to get the cut done. She also spent the entire sitting criticizing my hair and, truthfully, hurting my feelings. I will NOT be returning here, I would much rather spend the $ 30 or so dollars to go to a salon just for a quick trim and great service. In fact, I will have to go to a salon to get this fixed. I understand that it is a discount hair cut place but you still can’t let a client leave with a terrible hair cut. Hair means a lot to many people. I DO NOT recommend this location.

I agree with the other reviewers… If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I gave my daughter a Great Clips coupon and money to get her hair cut at this place before school. She said she told the lady at the counter that she had a $ 7.99 coupon and the person there inspected it and gave it back to her saying that the wait was 15 mins. My daughter got her haircut only to be told AFTERWARDS that the coupon was not acceptable because it was an internet coupon and not one of their printed coupons and charged her the full price. IT IS THEIR COUPON!!! This is not the only time that they pull this stunt about the coupons making up all these rules who gets to use a coupon and who doesn’t. In the past, I used to get my hair cut by this one hairdresser who kept giving me the «woe me» sob story to get large tips every single time. Sorry I want to get my hair cut by a professional not hear some story about why her kids aren’t eating while their mom smokes cigarettes after cigarettes. Everyone who works at this place has a bad attitude and the lady who owns this place could care less if you are happy with their services or not.
Do yourself a favor and go to Hair Cuttery or Supercuts down the street and you will be much happier than to give this place the business.

I would rate this Great Clips ⁰⁄₅ stars but the 1 star is there because the owner of this Great Clips reached out to me after a mishap.
I decided to get a haircut before my 21^st birthday and this was the one near where I live. I needed a quick haircut because I had other errands to do.
I came in and it was packed. I signed in and waited for about 15 – 20 minutes until a lady called out my name and took me to her work station. I told her that I wanted my sides faded and the top of my hair trimmed. Apparently we had a HUGE miscommunication because she SHAVED OFF ALL MY HAIR! This is the day before my 21^st birthday and this was one of the worst services I’ve ever had. She apologized and continued to cut my hair.
If you want a quick, cheap cut, then this is the place for you. Just expect a mistake. I would not come back here ever again.

Me and my son came in to get our monthly hair cuts and the temperature was unbearable. It was hot and muggy. During my hair cut the gal cutting my hair was sweeting profusely and actually used her blow dry to cool down. All the time the owner was saying she’s ok with the temperature and we should just deal with it. When I told the the gal cutting my hair that I guess the owner must not care about her customers the owner overheard me and said she was ok with it! Egan I was paying for our hair cuts the gal asked if I had any coupons. When I said yes, the owner told me to take my coupon and go somewhere else. I Was floored. From now on I’m taking my business elsewhere.

Would I get my haircut here? No. But this is the only place I take my boys to. They are friendly and courteous and quick. Some stylists are better than others. Even though they remember the boys and the styles they get, I go over what I expect and their specific hair quirks. The last time we went my oldest changed his style and she did a fantastic job! She said she did X and Y different than what I asked for because she thought A and B– but was willing to change it. It was great! And very much in style. And now I know adult pricing starts at 11 years old :/

I go to a stylist in Ingleside for cut and color, but need a place closer for the occasional blow out and flat iron. I decided to try Great Clips because there was no wait. That should have been a clue. The person at the counter was more concerned about my name and whether I was in the system than what I was there for. Then after that was done, we launched into a ten minute discussion about what I wanted done and what that would cost. I didn’t care what the cost was, just wanted to get my hair done. They went back and forth between three people and finally decided that it was $xx for a wash, cut and style. I didn’t want a cut. Just the style. Oh. They didn’t speak very good English. The woman at the counter grumbled, they’re always changing prices on me.
So I get to the wash bowl and she leans over and she smells! B.O. And stale stinky cigarettes. Ugh. She washes my hair twice for some reason (she said something about why but I could not understand her). I try repeatedly to describe what I want… very simple, blow it straight with the big brush and slightly turned under at the ends, with flat iron finish. She hardly uses the brush at all, says we do t need it, then uses nothing to protect my hair and burns the living crap out of it as she flat irons it to death. I see smoke and smell burning hair. After a few seconds of that, I was done. And I got to pay $ 25 for that. Ugh. I will never go there again. The Hair Cuttery just down the street does a much better job.

If there was a zero rating, I’d give it to this place!!!
My brother went in for a haircut and came out with a BALD SPOT from the clippers! When I noticed it and showed them, they said he had ALOPECIA!!! (I’m a nurse, and it’s not alopecia!!!) They didn’t give me my money back, and said there was nothing they could do! These «professionals» are a REAL piece of work! I will never go back there! I hope this place gets a new staff cause they’re all IDIOTS and wannabe nurses!
I’ll be calling their regional manager TOMORROW!!!

Please do not go to Great Clips in Gurnee. My daughter went in with her long hair for a trim («take as little off as possible») and came home with her hair chopped up 4 inches and uneven in the back. She is going to Ulta to hopefully get this fixed although a great deal of damage is done. Spend your money at Ulta and stay away from Great Clips if you care anything about your appearance.

i picked a style from one of the hair styling books & i pointed saying i wanted that one… didn’t look like it at all. i hated my hair cut.
i didn’t walk out saying i hated it nor did i try to get a refund… but i should’ve.
i think those hair schools w/​free haircuts could’ve done a MUCH better job
i went to a salon a couple weeks later & the lady there was telling me how the style of cutting the great clips stylist used was terrible. the worst part, the great clips stylist told me it was new scissors & a new way of cutting hair. ???
