Have been going to Yolo for about four years. Staff is very friendly knowledgeable and accommodating. They provide great service.

I went in to YOLO because I had developed blotchy, brown skin on my neck and cheeks because of sun exposure and unfortunate genes. I was given three options by Nikki, the technician working with me. The first option were some lightening creams; the second was a broad band light laser treatment and the third was a little more aggressive with a deep peel. We discussed all the options, what I could realistically expect for results and the recovery time for each option as well as the cost. In the end, I went with the laser treatment. The results took a few weeks to see.(And I didn’t look so pretty while the old, brown skin was shedding.) After a few weeks my skin looked really beautiful — the best in a long time. The brown spots were gone! I was really, really delighted with the whole experience.

This summer I went to this practitioner, Nikki(she’s a nurse, not a doctor) to find out what I could do about creases at either corner of my lips. I thought perhaps she’d suggest a bit of filler in my lower lip to pull it out and make the crease look less deep. But she said that filler in my cheeks and at the edge of the crease would work much better. She said it would be $ 1000 and I said OK. She ended up using up all the filler in one side, though, and so ½ way through she said, «I have to use a new syringe for the other side which will be another $ 1000. Are you OK with that?» What could I say? So she did the other side. When she handed me a mirror I was shocked. It wasn’t that there was no difference, it was that I looked worse. My cheeks were puffier, that part showed a bit. But it hadn’t pulled up the slightly sagging skin. In fact, because the injection lumps were below each corner, not behind it, my lower lip now rolled inward on the sides, especially the side that was originally more creased, so it kind of looked as though I was biting the inside of the side of my lower lip(combined by a vague swollen look below the lip corners.) Today long after, my lower lip still appears smaller on the sides, and I have a smaller mouth to begin with. I told her that this was not what I wanted at all, and repeated that I wanted the creases(pointing to them again) to diminish. She assured that it was a good look and I would settle into it and like it later. So I left. Then came the bruising. It looked as though I had been hit on both sides of my face. There were large expanses of blue then green then yellow from below my lip corners to my chin to ½ way up the side of my nose and lower cheeks. This condition was not close to coverable with makeup. This was embarrassing; I work in retail and need to look polished without drawing attention to myself. I finally went back after 10 days because I was so upset about this whole experience. I wanted it fixed and a proper treatment or to get my money back — the fact was that she sold me a solution that was not even close to(1) what I wanted and(2) what I should have paid money for. She should have paid ME to walk around like this. I had been putting arnica and ice and everything else I could think of on my face both day and night and nothing stopped the bruising from spreading. Even after 10 days she could not pretend that there wasn’t something wrong. She kept asking if I was on blood thinners, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil? I am on none of these things and cannot even take ibuprofen or aspirin. I also felt as though I had been taken by a fortune teller or something — you know how they stop ½ way through and you have to pay more to find out what unbelievable thing they just saw in your palm. If there was not a good solution, she should have told me this. After all, I’d seen her in a general consultation before and they certainly have a ton of equipment for all sorts of things as well at the conventional botox and fillers. Well, right off she was defensive. When I brought up the part about stopping ½ way through to ask for more money to inject more stuff, she had clearly heard this complaint before, because she interrupted me just as soon as I had said five — seven words. I told her she needed to hear this feedback. She claimed something, I don’t remember, but it didn’t soothe me. She refused to give me my money back. As for the bruising, she said that I should have called(why would I call, she never told me to in any kind of «post treatment protocols.» The only thing she said was not to rub the lumps. She kept saying they were«liquid gold.») She said they have a laser that breaks up bruising. I liked how she blamed the victim here. Although by this point the bruising was pretty much past doing anything but waiting it out, she provided this laser treatment to me before I left«as a courtesy» she kept repeating, as though it made up for the issue of(1) wrong treatment(2) botched(3) defensive posture toward me and(4) certain knowledge that this wouldn’t have worked. Do you know how I know that she already knew this wasn’t the best solution? Because when I explained again what I had wanted, she told me that the Juvederm wasn’t even the right solution, that several treatments by something called a mixto laser would work best. This recommendation is documented. I feel that it might make sense to take her to small claims court. I am frankly tired of feeling taken advantage of. My one hope that filler really does wear off in 9 – 12 months. Please don’t risk a visit here. I thought I was supporting a nurse, and went to her instead of a doctor because I believe nurses to be unsung heroes. I was wrong to risk my looks for a principle, though, that’s for sure.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to YOLO. If you are researching places for laser hair removal, look no further. I can’t speak for the other procedures, facials, massages, or plastic surgery, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use them if I needed(ahem… could afford) them. It is a wonderful place, full of light and color and warmth… Jess at the front desk is just an amazing personality. She exudes bubbly happiness. From the first phone call I had with her, I knew I could trust her when she said it really doesn’t hurt as much as you think it might! Nikki has built a wonderful business, and yet is still the person you see… I feel confident with her knowledge and expertise, and her demeanor is so calm and kind, you just immediately feel at ease. I cannot recommend YOLO highly enough! I must book a facial and massage next!

Had a sleep-inducing massage with a nice facial. Very relaxing, warm heated beds. I’d return there in a heartbeat for another massage. They tended to my tense areas. Receptionist was personable. *Update: returned for arm wax. Not the most thorough; missed spots on my elbow. Again I’d recommend it for massages but not waxes. Check website for specials. They often send you a coupon after your first visit.
