Since others have raved about the Pizza lets talk about atmosphere. This place is a gem. Small, cozy, and you really get to see the master working on a real brick oven up close and personal. My personal favorite is the veggie white pie… the peppers… just perfect. Hats off to the team who are carrying that brick oven tradition to an ever wider audience.

Superb in every way. Absolutely fantastic marinara type pizza — the crust was simply extraordinary. The whole place had a terrific vibe. Everybody(except us) knew the pizza chef giving this restaurant a convivial feel like a home away from home. I could not recommend with more enthusiasm.

Pizza was so good! Awesome service. A little small in there so I reccomend reservations, however there is space to sit outside.

Phenomenal. I live in new haven and love my new haven pizza but whenever people ask me what my favorite pizza is, they are always shocked to hear me say Buffalina in Guilford. If you get a chance read about the owners back story, you should. They traveled to Italy to learn how to make real pizza, and that is exactly what you get. The best ingredients with the most original combinations. I’ve been here too many times to recommend my favorite but just trust in anything they have on the menu. Very small. Must make a reservation! They have wine/beer now but you can still BYOB which is always more fun. After Tacuba in Branford closed(tear), this is hands down my favorite restaurant.

I can’t believe pizza this good is available in Guilford. If you like a thin, well done crust this place is heaven. If you don’t like a thin, well done crust, you and I have nothing else to discuss. This ranks among the best pizzas I’ve ever had. If there’s no place to sit, take it to go. If you start eating it in the car, it probably won’t make it home. I’m a bit wheat intolerant, but this stuff is worth popping a few digestive enzymes for!

Pizza here is amazing. The atmosphere is much different than a usual pizza place. The staff(owner I think?) makes you feel at home. The pizza is very unique and reasonably priced for what you get. Its BYOB, which is what we like. Just be warned because its small and popular, there can be big wait times. We got in pretty quick because we came early, but when we left it was slammed. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

Best pizza ever! You never get tired of any one kind because they change their menu with every season. Today I had pizza with smoked trout and salad greens on top. It sounds strange but after many visits I now know I can take a leap of faith — they know what they are doing. It was amazing. Pizza aside, I love to support a small local business with kind owners that are always there and take pride in their place.

Having grown up in the New Haven area, I’ve eaten pizza at all the famous spots and can’t tell you how happy I am to have Bufalina in my town. The pizza, staff and Owners are amazing and my family I go as often as our diets allow The pies range from basic/traditional to amazing gourmet. If you’re looking for goomba pizza, go somewhere else, this is is high quality food. As a matter of fact, if you don’t absolutely love it here, please stay away, we don’t want the competition.

Called in for some take-out since they were booked solid for the night. I was very skeptical as a lot of the time, take-out is lackluster when compared to eating the pizza fresh out of the oven. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly staff who clearly looked like they were enjoying what they were doing(a rarity especially on a busy Friday night). My pizza was ready at the time given to me over the phone and we were off. The pizza was by far the best I’ve had outside of Italy. The sauce, the cheese, everything– was DIVINE. We ordered a Bufalina, a Nutella pizza, and salad and it did not disappoint. I hope to be able to get a spot at the counter on my next visit– the restaurant looked cozy, warm, and inviting. If not, I’m more than happy to order take-out from here again. This place is a real gem.

I’ve had various pizzas from here and all were fantastic. The butternut squash and sausage was my favorite, might have been a special. Kale pizza was great. For dessert the nuttella pizza is really good(had it at another Italian restaurant, but it wasn’t as good as here). Highly recommend. Small place, you can only sit at the counter(or out back in the garden seasonally, but great atmosphere.

Awesome gem for pizza in the Guilford area. We heard a lot of good things about this place but didn’t get the chance to do a lot of research before showing up. The two big takeaways I wish I knew:(1) there is limited seating available so just be warned(you may end up taking it to go), and(2) it’s BYOB which is incredible. That said, it’s worth the wait as the pizza is delicious and the people working here are very nice and accommodating. We got a Bufalina and Nutella pizza. Both were great, the Nutella got a lot of attention from people stopping by for take out. It lives up to the hype so if the Nutella sounds good to you… just pounce on it, you won’t regret it. We topped off the tank with some house wine and were on our merry way!

I enjoyed it, especially sitting outside. The prices were high for what it was(a pizza with the kids who demolished it). BUT I am sure I will be back.

What can I say these are really fantastic. If you’re more European in style and topping than American, which is a good thing. The negatives here are the prices fairly expensive and it is often hard to get in order, Sometimes needing to wait an hour or hour and a half which is unacceptable if your hungry. Great place, would love to see it in a larger location.

WOW! ITJUSTGETSBETTER! Had dinner at BUFELINO’s. What can I say, this place has everything to satisfy even the most picky eater! We sat in our favorite seats… THEWINDOW. I dreamed about their FIGPIZZA all day. When a meal is better than you dream. You know it great! The salad was wonderful. Fresh and a great start. Love the house dressing. Ate this meal with a «COLD Beer»(local). Finished off with ice cream sandwich. YOUAREREALLYMISSING A WONDERFULUNIQUEEXPERIENCE! BUFELINOISEXTREMELYSPECIAL. The staff is so compatible, cheery and aim to please. Each pie is made with love and you see & feel it, while watching the process. I hope they never get an idea the go bigger or change anything! The building, the set-up is all part of what makes this wonderful place what it is… PERFECT! It reminds me of the tiny family village eateries in Italy. Wood cooking ovens, fresh produce with talented cooking perfection! This is not your typical pizzeria. it’s much more. True artisan pies! You won’t get this at Pizza Hut! IFYOUHAVEN’T BEENTOBUFELINO. YOUNEVERHAD A REALPIZZA! Make a reservation and if you don’t leave, humming«oh … a Mia! and planing your next visit. have your taste buds checked. SOMETHINGS Wrong! The first time I tried Bufalina was on the day they opened in 2011. I remember sitting at the teeny counter thinking how are these two adorable twenty-somethings gonna make it? It didn’t seem like a scalable idea due to the wee size of the place and the number of pies they can churn out in an evening. But that was then and this is now, and they are still piling the freshest seasonal toppings on up to 140 pizzas a night. Recently I pulled up a bright red stool to the white marble counter(seating for six!), and tasted my way through their ever-changing menu. I’m a fan of the classics, especially their version of the Margherita, a tomato, cheese and basil pie but with an addition of, well, more cheese! Gooey scamorza! But I branched out. The Primavera boasted the fresh tastes of spring: asparagus, pea leaves and blistered spring onions, embellished with a sprinkle of a light broth that’s tossed together from pecorino rinds and herbs. A drizzle gives the pizza more depth of flavor. Genius! Potato, fennel and sausage hit all the right notes of savory to slightly sweet. Don’t stop there. Order the Nutella for dessert. The pie they made famous, thickly spread with the stuff, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. Over-the-top and irresistible! Good to know: if you’re planning take-out on the week-end, call ahead. Outdoor picnic seating available.

Nice little place. We sat outside(inside looked to be pretty cramped.) It was a nice night, but the place could benefit from some citronella candles or something to keep the gnats at bay. They’ve got some interesting, novel pizza ideas on the menu. We each got a salad to start, and they were quite good. The addition of hazelnuts was a nice touch. We got a couple of pizzas: the lamb shanks pizza(«agnello» I think) and a clams casino pizza, which was the special. Both came out without much of a wait and had wonderfully thin, crispy crusts. The lamb pizza was different(in a good way) and the clams casino pizza was pretty good, but could have been a little more generous with the clams. Overall, pretty good, but didn’t blow my socks off.

Fantastic! Great little space, BYOB, friendly owners, patio, great food. Comparisons to nearby New Haven are inappropriate as this isn’t anything near those in style. A closer comparison would be new-to-the-area Tarry Lodge, and this at least holds up to it. Small, thin crust, creative toppings. It’s done really well here, and definitely one of the best stops in the area.

Was so happy I finally got to try Bufalina! I’ve wanted to. Go for quite awhile, but never had the chance. If small, thin crust, brick oven pizza with fresh(local) ingredients and interesting combinations is your thing, then definitely give them a try. The Margherita and Cipolle were my favorites. The sauce on the margherita was perfect, just a little but sweet, with lots of cheese and fresh basil. The cipolle uses one of my favorite soft cheese from mystic cheese company called«Melinda Mae». It’s a soft(almost Brie like) cheese that’s not over powering. I never would have thought to put it on a pizza. But there it was, topped with caramelized onions, scallions and bacon… and it was delicious. It was the favorite of everyone at the table. The crust is great, just the right amount of charring. The place is small but still takes reservations and it’s byob! It gets pretty crowded but you can also get take out. During the warmer weather they do have a back patio open for additional seating. Can’t wait to go back.

Big let down. The bones of my pie were flat and crunchy rather than light and airy… The way all the previous Unilocalers photos would indicate. There is very little seating inside, the chairs don’t seem very sturdy plus you will get packed in like a sardine. I think the pizzas are overpriced by about $ 5. If the ambiance was more upscale I could see the higher price going toward that but in this case it seems to go into wages. There were at least 4 people behind the counter working. My guess is that my pizza was made with dough that hadn’t warmed up properly before shaping(explains the flat crust) and that the 4 people are assigned as follows: oven, pizza maker, phone answerer/cashier, and counter server to the 11 patron max. I can see how this place could be rated highly by someone– just not me based on the crust, value, and atmosphere. I’ll give you the stand out positives for me. The sauce and Buffalo cheese were top notch. The people were overly friendly.
