First time in the area visiting family for thanksgiving and didn’t expect to find much out here but El Durango completely surpassed our expectations. Great food(shrimp fajitas and house margarita must try!) and the service was great. The owner Jimmy stopped by our table to make sure everything was great. Very funny and nice guy. Would definitely come back next time I’m in town! Perfect for family and large groups too.

Been a long time since I have been here, when friends suggested it, I was like«well Ok, let’s see» It was really good, staff friendly, service superfast and the food was well priced and when they say«be careful, hot plate» they ain’t playing. Very tasty, I think this restaurant is now owned by different people than a few years ago, Very clean, I was impressed and felt they deserved a shout out

Love me some El Durango. I’m from Griffin, and my grandparents would take me to the old location a little up the road from where it is now. It just holds a special place in my heart, and Jimmy, the owner, is just a nice guy. The staff is always extremely friendly and attentive, and the food is good. Definitely give it a try. One reviewer said Griffin has more Mexican restaurants than Mexico(hilarious, and true), so we bounce between El D and La Hacienda… Definitely make sure this place makes it into your dining rotation.

Not a fan. The cheese dip was obviously watered down. Service was fine, but food was disappointing.

I am a regular here and I am never disappointed. Griffin has more Mexican restaurants than Mexico, but this one stands out. The service is always quick and friendly and food is always spot on. Check it out.

Just okay. Where’s the chicken in Griffin’s burritos?

What can I say except just go and the food and staff will win you over. Being from Griffin I have grown up with this place and since I have moved away(12 years ago: college/military) every time I come back I always make a stop here for either lunch or dinner. In all of my travels not many places have lived up to the excellent Mexican food offered at El Durango. Especially in the area, there is no other place that can live up the quality and price offered here(and yes, I have tried that El Charro place and it was over price, small portions, they rely on too much lettuce, guacamole and sour cream to cover up there o-k cooking) So if you are in there area, this is the place to go. I recommend their fajita quesadilla con pollo

There’s only one thing you go to a mexican restaurant for… margaritas. Well, they suck here. I ordered the big 32oz and I didn’t taste tequila during ANY of it. Chips and salsa were good though.

It’s not the worst Mexican I’ve had, but it’s not far from it either. The food tasted bland with that kind of ground beef that has the taste and consistency I’d imagine cat food to have. Wait staff needs improvement. I got a drink when I was seated and didn’t see my waiter again until my meal was half gone. By that point I had needed a refil for 15 minutes. Waited a long time for my check too. It seems to be a popular place, but I don’t know why, my experience was definitely sub-par. And yes, as another reviewer pointed out, their chili relleno sucks, hard. It was just a bunch of chees and meat with ONE piece of chili.

I absolutely adore the owners of this place. They are so sweet. Their salsa and cheese dip with jalapenos is very good too. They have the best chicken chimichanga and tamale in town.

I like this place! Good service, comfortable booths, clean. Lots of people eat here but you rarely have more than a brief wait to be seated. Their food is good, your standard Mexican fare around here. Burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, etc. They have a small bar in one section. Their chili relleno is basically a bunch of hot cheesy meat, you may or may not find a small piece of pepper in there. Apparently that’s how people around here like it, just letting you know that.
