Came here to have brunch with my parents. The waitress was very attentive and provided many suggestions on her favorites on the menu. It’s a pretty big menu, so suggestions were helpful! I ended up with the sausage skillet(sausage, green peppers, onions, cheese, potato). I always worry about getting anything with home fries because they’re usually overcooked, but not so the case here! They were cooked thoroughly but not burned. The sausage wasn’t my favorite, but it was cooked well. The peppers were still crisp which I love! They even had cholula hot sauce. Favvvvve! It also came with an option for toast or pancakes. I opted for the sourdough. The only thing that would’ve made this better would be some house jam! The restaurant was pretty clean, though it could use some updates. But hey, if it’s clean that’s what matters, right?

First of all, the service this time was lacking and minimal. Lunch was a huge disappointment. I had a patty melt and it was atrocious. It came with two sides and soup. The soup was creamy chicken and rice. It was a processed tasting thick slurry. The cole slaw was average, and the fries tasted greasy and heavy. The sandwich was the worst of the combo. It was on two big greasy thick slices of Texas toast, and it had one lousy cheap quality piece of yellow processed square cheese that got lost inside the sandwichs. It should have been real cheese. The chicken breast was grilled but tough and rubbery. It had a smattering of partially cooked onions inside and that was all. It was such a dry sandwich overall. I choked down half of the meal, and it’s all I could do. I hated myself afterwards. When the waitress finally came by the table to ask how the food was, I didn’t hold back. I told her it was very disappointing. She apologized and left. When she came back she said the manager comped half of my meal. I might come back for their decent breakfasts, but I am not taking a chance on lunch again.

Food is always great, great people, great service. The only bad part is the acoustics in the back room. The roar of the other guests make it difficult to enjoy the meal.

Delicious breakfast and quite filling. Very reasonably priced for all that you receive. The dessert display when you walk in is very tempting. I had the Denver scramble with pancakes and it was good. The pancakes were light and fluffy. I liked the feta cheese in the scramble. My favorite dish that out party had was the Gyro Omelet my dad got. The gyro meat inside the omelet was a different addition that tasted great! The coffee was inexpensive and tasty. It was busy on a Sunday morning, but we were served in a reasonable amount of time. Definitely a good place for Sunday breakfast and I would return if I was in the area.

What a great place. It is bright, cheery and CLEAN! Perfect for a nice family breakfast. They are super busy but they keep up very well. The menu has just about everything you could want. Fresh fruit, crepes, giant waffles, name it. It was a great morning. Staff is delightful.

Absolutely one of the finest breakfast places we have ever been to. The folks here are extremely friendly and the food is wonderful. It is a regular stopping place for us and whenever we have family in to visit we always bring them here. We have tried many of the breakfast dishes and have found each, and every one of them very good.

My favorite breakfast spot on the south side. Great selection and cheap prices for the amount of food you get. The service does tend to decline a bit when they’re really busy and it’s nearly impossible to deal with large groups of people during those times, but when it isn’t crazy busy it’s a fantastic little spot to get breakfast/brunch.

I went here on a suggestion from a friend that lived near by. I had the south of the border skillet. it was great. Chorizo sausage(«the best flavor of any Chorizo I’ve had) green peppers onion, cheese eggs on top any style. I had sourdough bread that was great too. I’m going back as soon as I can.

The best breakfast, menu, and service in central indiana! Super clean as well. You get your food fast and all the staff is friendly. In addition, they allow you to make substitutions on menu items for no additional charge. The prices are very reasonable roo.

Great spot for breakfast! Hash browns were super crispy, the corned beef croissant was delish, and the biscuits & gravy were yummy. Nothing gourmet, just solid traditional breakfast fare.(Though some Greek lemon chicken soup would be a welcome addition to the menu!) The customer service was great, and both owners were present. The wife even came to our table to see how we were doing. I’ll definitely go back when I’m in the area.

Very clean and well organized restaurant. Staff was well trained and friendly. The level of service reflected that of a more expensive restaurant. I had the corned beef hash, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The hash was made from hand cut potatoes and peppers not something dumped out off a bag from the freezer. Coffee was excellent! Well done, well executed!

How am I winding up at Pancake houses all of a sudden? What am I 5 yrs old? Wife and I hit this joint up as she wanted to try it for a while. Place is busy, get seated immediately, takes a while to get service but once that gets rolling everything is smooth. Wife gets the Yia Yia trio, eggs, ham, sausage, bacon and some other piece of swine I think. I have to work out in a little, going in the gym with a gut full of pancake dough is not ideal. Always looking out for something different I spot the artichoke, mozzarella omelet, I like all 3 of those things so why not. Wrong answer. The sourness of the artichoke just didn’t work, I had to eat each bite with cheese covering it up. Hash browns were crisp, cooked in butter, that’s different, ate pancakes later they were good. All in all this place is decent, extensive menu, I think I need to come back and try something more traditional. I’ll hit this place up again in the future and make up my mind then.

I posted a review on their other Unilocal page. Guess it was Sophia’s old page. Read that then get over here. This place is awesome.

Just moved to Greenwood and was looking for a new weekend breakfast place. This may be the place. The wait staff was very attentive, almost too attentive. I had three different people try to take my order. I had eggs over easy and ham, sausage and bacon with hash browns. Everything was well prepared and it came out almost immediately. The has browns we’re excellent, although I generally prefer fried potatoes. They aren’t on the menu, which is the one downside. Overall, a good choice that we’ll try again.

Formerly Sophia’s House of Pancakes. When the new owners took over not a lot of changes but it took a bit to get back into the groove. Updated colors on the inside. Food is still a plus and spot on. Huge portions, cheap price, staff is fast, friendly and efficient. My favorite breakfast spot on the south side. Always busy on the weekends.

Still delicious! New management but they are still on the ball with coffee refills and huge portions.

This is a great place on the south side of Indy for breakfast. Their pancakes are incredible — they put syrup in their batter, so the emphasis is on ‘cake’ in the word pancake. The blueberry pancakes come with blueberries cooked in, blueberry syrup, and blueberries on top. Oh, and whipped cream. There’s enough for two, or three, in an order, so be ready to share or prepare to have some delicious leftovers! I always ask for a box with my order. Eggs, hash browns, and bacon are also excellent. Sophia’s really is just a classic American breakfast spot. Take a trip to our southern suburb and check it out!

This is a nice place on the south side of Indy. However, this is not a place that works for everyone. This is truly an old-school place but in a good way. This is a place for many families to call home on a Sunday afternoon. A place where grandma or Dad brought you to for breakfast when you were young. I can understand how some people do not appreciate the looks on the inside or waiting during a busy stretch, but to others this is a place that stayed the same. A place where you cut Sophia’s a break when things aren’t perfect because they have been perfect so many times. I’ve only been going to this place for about a year, but I have childhood memories of places like this and I just see it in people’s faces. There is no pretentious food here. Breakfast is your usual combination of meat, eggs and potatoes. I really like the ham they cook here especially when you get a decent char on the meat. Eggs are always double what it says and they are sourced within 2 miles of the restaurant. Cooked exactly as ordered every time. Hash brown are good but are not consistently cooked correctly. The best treat on the menu is French toast with mascarpone cheese inside. Great flavor and one of their best dishes. I drink coffee on a rare occasion. This place has great coffee and it goes well with the French toast dish. I’ve gone here for lunch also. I really like the Beef Manhattan. You get soup which I would recommend the clam chowder. You get a salad and dessert. The Manhattan was good but not excellent. The size was large and everything was well seasoned. I have ordered it 3 – 4 times. I have had the burger, club and biscuits and gravy. All were good but nothing special. Owner cares about his restaurant, good staff very good food and interesting décor. This is not for everyone. This unique restaurant has to be appreciated for more than it’s food. You have to like the food but love the charm. This is a place for people who appreciate tradition and just want things left alone. This is a place where you remember good times with family and friends and maybe someone who is no longer a part of your life. Only a few of these exist and hopefully it will be many more years before this is more than a memory to us all. If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. Let’s all keep supporting the true food scene in Indy.

If the name of the place has the word«pancake» written blue and bold, then sign me up cause I freaking LOVE pancakes. I was actually disappointed in the fact they didn’t have more pancake options given the title, but hey I made due. I ordered a stack of strawberry pancakes. It was pretty when it came out, and it actually had fresh cut strawberries(not that frozen, thawed, runny, and sweet stuff). My plain Jane hubby ordered the Old-fashioned. The cakes were hot, but a tad on the dry side. The prices were OK, my cakes were over $ 7.00, which I felt was expensive. I was full and the service was fast. Go back? If I were on the Southside maybe, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.
