The best gastro pub and bourbon bar on the Southside. Highly recommended for some good eats and some talented mixologists

Revery is our favorite restaurant on the south side. We get consistently good food and whenever we wish to shake things up, there are enough options to break away from the humdrum fare of other places My wife and I have tried their dinners, their lunches and even their Sunday brunches… and the flavor has been consistently good. This morning, we decided we wanted to try out the back patio. Island music was playing in the sheltered area with a live tree growing within the confines. Umbrellas were open at each table. We grabbed a nice spot by the tree and could still smell the fresh cedar of the nearby fencing. Today, my wife ordered the Pork Tenderloin and fries. It was a respectable sized tenderloin(much bigger than the bun), but not so ridiculous as to be wasteful or decadent. The flavor was good and simple as the Indiana unofficial sandwich is expected to be. The fries were a bit salty for her tastes. I sampled them and liked them, but agreed they were a bit heavy on seasoning. Our waitress said that in future meals, we could request them to be less seasoned without any problem since each batch is seasoned independently. I ordered the Chicken Salad Croissant with a side of seasonal fruit. The croissant was buttery good and the flavors of the grapes and sliced almonds complimented the flavors. I would definitely recommend this sandwich to anyone stopping by. It was an absolutely beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy the warm breeze, good food, and great company. So glad that Revery added this dining space to their location(downtown Greenwood at Main and Madison). We will continue to have this restaurant in our«go to» places.

Place is nice with a private patio. We liked the patio very much. Food was tasty, at least what I was told. I wish there was something for me on the brunch menu, too. I’m vegetarian who doesn’t eat eggs. I had an almost frozen fruit cup for brunch. I won’t come back unless they change their menu.

Went for our anniversary and loved it. Steak was cooked perfect, fries were crispy and good. The aoli sauce for the steak was amazing. Everything was fresh, and was a great experience. We brought my daughter and she loved coloring on the table! So that was an extra plus for us! We will deffently be returning.

We ate here for Mother’s Day brunch! It was super crowded but the staff handled our large party very well! I can’t begin to even say how awesome the food was. Such awesome twists on traditional favorites! Everything was scrumptious! My mouth is watering thinking about the chicken fried bacon and crab cake style eggs Benedict! I will be going back here hopefully soon to try their dinner menu!

WHOAHNELLY. This place is absolutely one of the BEST places I’ve been. Ever. Unbelievable fresh, flavor-filled, perfectly cooked nibblies. Apps: cheese board, mussels and chicharones were exquisite. More than enough for a party of 4. Main plates: Two specials tonight were the soft shell crab and Kobe beef brisket dishes. Words cannot even describe how good these dishes were. Probably the best I’ve had in Indy. Unreal. Try it. Hanger steak was also cooked to perfection. Who doesn’t love steak? Desserts: Banoffee was perfect in size, flavor and sweetness. Service: Water glasses were always filled. Standard bar options for liquor, nothing too fancy. Overall: Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to an amazing meal that will not only tickle those taste buds but satisfy your belly! I am definately coming back next time I’m in town.

Mostly hit and miss for us. The meat and cheese was average, the mussels IMHO pretty ordinary even if the portion was huge. Though the wifey did enjoy their Rev salad a lot. My braised beef dish was very tender but was missing something, perhaps some acidic component to it, also the brussels sprout that came with it was quite plain. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the reduction was excellent, but the portion, fish and side wise, were pretty small and barely fill half of the large plate they serve it with. The 3 cocktails we tried, mash n pit, dark and stormy, and rhinestone cowboy all good but nothing special. Probably the most memorable items for us that evening was the playful take in the popcorn served smoking cold, and the chocolate ganache for dessert which had just the right amount of chocolate richness on top of lightly salted crunchy granola that just made the texture and sweetness of the chocolate ganache pop. Place was nice, kinda have that modern upscale diner feel to it and you get full main street traffic view from the huge plate glass window in the front/main dining area. Service was a tad slow the evening we went, granted it was Saturday evening and the place was packed, even after spending at least a good half hour in the bar drinking while we wait for our table. Also had some miscue between the bartender and our server regarding what the special was that evening. Overall, 1st the experience was good, just did not find that ‘wow’ factor.

We went for brunch and can’t wait to come back. We had a food allergy at our table, and they were accommodating. All our entrees were great, and we loved the chicken fried bacon. A great find in Greenwood.

I finally found a great place to eat close to I-65 on the way from the IND airport to Louisville. I made reservations for 7:30 pm for a family of five. When we arrived the place was packed but we were seated promptly in the second room from the front. We asked for outside seating but were told that it was not an option since we had kids with us. Popcorn at the beginning and cotton candy at the end of our dinner were a nice touch. We wanted the halibut special but they ran out of it. We ordered salads and salmon, which were very good. Our waitress and the other team members were very attentive and friendly. We will be back to try the halibut. :-)

Had brunch to kick start the month of May! Really loved the atmosphere and genuine service. Also big fans of the farm to table concept. Started off with the chicken fried bacon — AWESOME! The starter for 2 was perfect. Like the kick that the honey provided. I had the Chilaquilas. Very delicious and a bit spicy for me, but probably not for the average patron. My boyfriend has the crab cake Benedict and he gave two thumbs up! Definitely a keeper if you want to try something different in Greenwood. Will be back to try for dinner!

My first visit to Revery was bittersweet on many levels. First, it was one of the last times I’ll see family for a while. Second, it may be the last time I get to eat at Revery. So, so sad I discovered this gem too late. A couple days before I packed up Husband to move to our new home ahead of me, we met with most of my family for a farewell dinner. Revery couldn’t have been a better pick. Logistically, it was a nice in-the-middle location for all of us. And it was easy to find. More importantly, it was amazing food and the fun atmosphere we were looking for. The service was top notch, out-shined only by the delicious eats. First, the starters. We sampled a few. I was slightly disappointed that the special appetizer from the night before wasn’t available. It was bacon stuffed bacon. Seriously. The thought made my mouth water. I don’t care how«last year» the bacon craze may be, I’ve been bacon crazy for over three decades and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Despite that minor disappointment, we found ourselves happily munching away on some seriously good starters. Husband and I, in traditional fashion, arrived early and ordered drinks and the Foie Gras. Very well made Moscow Mules were overshadowed by the beautiful and delectable Foie. When my family arrived, we added Fried Cheese Curds and Pickled Beets to the table. The beets were by far my favorite, but that is not to say the cheese curds weren’t spectacular. Be forewarned, if you order the cheese curds, the Jalapeño Hoosier Sauce is quite spicy. Delicious, but spicy. Mom and Husband thought they were heaven. I was busy staining my lips red from the tasty beets as they oooohhed and ahhhhhed over the curds. Next up were salads. The Rev Salad is nothing short of marvelous. If we were staying in town, this would be a regular crave that needed attention. A perfect balance of rich flavors all delivered in a fresh feast bowl. Just. Yum. My only regret was not also trying the Apple Salad. Try it for me. Tell me how incredible it is. I just know it’s true. Now, sometimes I find that restaurants can really knock it out of the park with starters, but fall a bit flat when it comes to entrees. Not Revery. If anything, they amped up their game. I opted for the Skirt Steak while Husband chose the Braised Lamb Bolognese. I have been struggling to decide which I liked better. I can’t. They were just too scrumptious. I’d eat them both right now if I could. The rest of the table’s dishes looked equally amazing and the family confirmed my suspicions. Even Nephew ate a bit. Mom and Sister 2 of 3 split the ribeye special and Nephew’s Dad enjoyed the healthy portion of fish and chips. After loving many bites of all that food, one would think dessert was off the table. One would think. We were all too happy about exploring this amazing menu to stop there. We tried their version of a chocolate lava cake and banana cream pie. Freaking amazing. When they brought the complimentary cotton candy to the table with the checks, I didn’t think I could eat another bite. But I did. I believe it was watermelon flavored cotton candy? Whatever it was it was incredibly yummy. One last note — the popcorn. Oh, the popcorn. Apparently they change up the flavors frequently. That night, we had the dill flavor. Sounds kinda weird, right? It was one of those food moments where you take your first bite and aren’t sure because it’s so different from what you expected. The second bite amps up your excitement. By the third you’re digging in up to your elbows forgetting you’re in public. The best part was the dry ice trick that made it cold. It gave it a pickle-esque flavor that made the palate beg for more. No matter how weird the popcorn flavor sounds on the night you go, give it a try. You won’t regret it.

I haven’t been to a restaurant that had me thinking«oh man 5 stars all the way!» for a long time before I came to Revery. I have driven by this place many times and always thought about how much I’d like to try it out. However, being a northside dweller makes it tough to get down to Greenwood just to check out a restaurant. Luckily for me I had the opportunity to visit for Sunday brunch with family this weekend. I was surprised that this place wasn’t busier when we arrived for brunch around 11:15 on Sunday. We were seated promptly and had our waters refilled twice before we even had a chance to check out the menu because their servers were on top of it. They offer a full bar, but try one of their brunch cocktails. The Moscow Mule and white peach sangria were the perfect treat. The menu had what you’d expect for brunch(think omlettes, salads, meat sides) along with some surprises. Chicken fried bacon anyone? I had to give the chicken and waffles a try because I am on the hunt for the best dish in Indy. Let me tell you that Revery is a contender! The waffle was firm and crisp, topped with savory and sweet fried chicken and the perfect amount of sweet syrup. It was delicious. Even my salad loving sister who avoids fried food couldn’t resist taking a second bite of my dish. Highly recommended! My sister liked her citrus salad and my BIL seemed to really enjoy the authenticy of his shrimp and grits. We all walked away with full bellies and smiles. I can’t wait to come back and try their lunch/dinner menu!

I’ve been looking for a upscale bar and grill to take clients on the south side of Indy and Revery just might be my new go to spot. The outside of the building has cool old school character. It’s located on a corner with big windows looking out on downtown. It is chock full of charm. Once you step inside it has more of a modern bistro vibe. Everything looks high end and sophisticated. We were seated right away for lunch. Our server came by quickly. She was polite and knowledgable. We started off with the pickled beat and wasabi cream salad. The chunks of beats were very large. It had just a bit of wasabi heat which went well with the briny flavor of the beats. I love beats and this one did it right. For my entrée I got the Ruben sandwich and French fries. I played it a little bit safe but I love a good Ruben. The sandwich was great. The kraut had a great level of briny funk and the meat was rich and well seasoned. The cheese and thousand island were creamy and melded everything together. It was just big enough to start falling apart but not so big to become a crazy mess. I love a big sandwich as much as the next guy but it doesn’t look professional trying to stuff that in your mouth with clients. This one was a great size. The fries were good but not as crispy as I like them. The flavor was great though. I am totally interested in doing drinks and apps after work sometime now. This place impressed me.

The hubs and I have driven by this place several times and always wanted to make plans to go! We finally set a date night and made reservations to go! Totally a great date night place! They start you off with complimentary bbq popcorn(you can pay extra to at nitrogen but that’s more for kids I think… though I probably would bring my kids here). I ordered the short ribs and whoa! They were amazing! I was stuffed and kept eating bc the flavored were all so so good. The hubs ordered the salmon and black quinoa. It was ok. As in good but not great esp with the food envy he was having over my dinner. That particular salmon isn’t even on the menu anymore so maybe they knew too. The menu changes often but the short rib is a staple bc it’s a huge it. They finished with complimentary cotton candy. Grape was the flavor of the day. So fun! Made the experience wonderful. Only downside is we didn’t even consider an app or dessert which all sounded awesome bc we were SOOO full! Hubs wanted a cappuccino but they don’t offer them(which they should!!) so we hit up Starbucks after to end our date night. Definitely left happy and full though so a great night all around!

First of all, this restaurant is very impressive for the Greenwood area. I went in at 8 pm on a Saturday and didn’t have to wait for a table. The jalapeño popcorn was complimentary and fairly good. The service was pretty good, except for a moment of confusion when another server ran over and apologized for ignoring us, even though we already met our server and had orders taken. But I’d rather have multiple servers than be ignored, so no complaints here. But on to the food: I had the short ribs and my friend had the hangar steak. I had initially ordered the venison filet but they had apparently run out, which was disappointing. The hangar steak was pretty awesome, a little chewy, but that’s expected for the cut. The short rib was fabulously tender and well-seasoned. My only complaint was how fatty the short rib was. I love fatty cuts of meat, but that was just too much. Overall, I had a great time here. The food was pretty darn good, the drinks are stiff, and the service was absolutely great. Would definitely come back and suggest it to people looking to have a good(and slightly pricy) time

Oh my lanta… I’ve found my new favorite bar on the south side! It’s a bit of a drive from downtown, but Revery is definitely worth the stop. Walk on in past the hostess stand and head on back to BaRev(aka the back bar at Revery). I sat at the rail while waiting for friends to arrive and couldn’t help but notice how cozy the back bar feels. With exposed brick, beautiful wooden shelves behind the bar, and the Mason jar lights, BaRev quickly intrigued me. First drink I ordered was a Fernet Flip. A drink gaining popularity, yet most bartenders have to look up how to make. Alyssa and Sarah whipped up the flip without hesitation. Additionally, after Alyssa made my drink I heard them discussing how to make variations with seasonal flavors. Soon after they had whipped up this variation drink and gave me a sample to try as well. Let me tell you, the Fernet Flip with maple syrup added a whole new level to this drink. Second drink I ordered was featured on the chalkboard behind the bar, i believe it was called an Autumn Romance, it had Rye Whisky, Allspice, and lemon. Super fragrant, it reminded me of a fall candle. It was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but I knew that when I ordered it. Third drink I had was the Caliente Baby– featured on the drink menu. So delicious. It’s got a great blend of warmth and sweet. That is unlink any other drink I’ve had around Indy. Don’t be fooled by the heat you can smell. The heat is muted and well balanced. Once my friends arrived they ordered a margarita and another Autumn Romance. The margarita was made without a mix and was quite refreshing. Food-wise I ordered a Rev Salad and the Mussels. Both were quite tasty and well presented. The broth that the mussels comes made a great dipping sauce for the bread that comes in the bowl. The mussels were a healthy portion and reasonably priced. The popcorn flavor of the day was honey mustard. Yum… just plain yum. :) I would highly recommend this place and look forward to my next trip.

We finally had the opportunity to try Revery. We thought it was okay. The restaurant décor is nice, but with open exposed duct ceilings, hard to have conversation. Service was good and the food arrived promptly. My tea glass did sit empty quite a few times. I’d suggest larger glasses. We had the lamb pasta dish, shrimp and tamale(tamale overpowered the chorizo) and the salmon. We also had the poutine appetizer. The poutine was the highlight. The entrees were good, just not very flavorful. Everyone at the table had the same feedback. We finished with a dessert martini, a banana caramel concoction and the ganache. The martini received high praise, but the ganache was like eating a candy bar. Certainly nothing special. The nitrogen popcorn is fun, but I don’t care much for cotton candy so could have done without that. Overall, if someone was passionate about going, I’d try it again. I probably won’t make the effort on my own.

On recent visits to Indianapolis, I’ve had a couple of meals(dinner and Sunday brunch) at Revery. All I can say is that it’s about damn time that the Southside of Indy extending down into Johnson County got a place like Revery. Revery brings the Mass Ave./Fletcher Place/Fountain Square style and sophistication to the Southside with its delicious farm to table fare that is equal to any place in town. Revery’s design and décor in an old renovated space on Main St. reminded me of nothing I’ve previously seen in Greenwood, certainly not the plethora of chain restaurants that otherwise dominate the Southside restaurant scene. The service on both trips was top notch with our servers being affable, attentive, and very knowledgeable about Revery’s concept and cuisine. Cocktails from both the restaurant bar and from the connected Bar Rev(will be reviewed separately) were well made and complemented the food nicely. Most importantly, however, the food was not your standard«meat and potatoes» fare, but rather elevated comfort food with whimsical twists using locally sourced ingredients and fresh, seasonal items like ramps or fiddleheads. Food highlights? The Chicken Fried Bacon($ 7) accompanied by a side of jalapeño honey was perfectly fried, crispy without greasiness, and wonderfully savory. I guess it IS true. Everything, including bacon, is better when fried! The NY Strip Steak N’ Egg($ 26), was cooked to my requested medium rare, tender, and served over duck fat hashbrowns, and topped with an over easy egg, and Hollandaise sauce. It was filling, but worth every bite. The one«miss» from my two meals was the Poutine($ 10) made with Italian beef Gravy, «Ball Park» cheese, hot giardiniera, and garlic aioli. Revery does offer cheese curds on its menu as its own selection, but opted to use a Velveeta-colored melted cheese sauce on its poutine. As a result, the dish reminded me more of chili cheese fries. Perhaps, I expected a more traditional poutine. It wasn’t bad so much as not what I was looking/hoping for. Prices across the board, considering portion size and quality, were exceedingly fair, if not an outright steal especially when compared to the DC-area, Las Vegas, or NYC. I’m overjoyed Revery exists. It easily served up the best dining experience to be found on the Southside, which has been starving for something like this for a long time. I know I’ll be back. 4.5 stars.

Dined here last week and had a great experience. We sat outside on the patio, where they had live music. The music was great and not too loud or overwhelming for a fairly small outside seating area. One thing we did learn; the bar cocktail menu is only served at the bar or on the patio and not in the dining area. What we ordered: Chicken Livers, Compressed Watermelon, Scottish Salmon, Scallops and the banana caramel dessert in a jar(can’t recall the name). ALL of these items were outstanding. Our only issue was the compressed watermelon not coming out with the Prosciutto, which we asked for and were promptly served with extra watermelon and feta. Location: This restaurant is located right in the heart of downtown Greenwood. It is really great to see a restaurant of such quality in their downtown area. Interior/Patio: The interior is very nice and cool as was the patio. Service: Our server seemed extremely busy and a bit overwhelmed, but still did a great job taking care of us. We always had what we needed in a timely manner and he was very knowledgable about the menu. I was extremely pleased with everything, including the cocktails(it was all DELISH!!) and we definitely got our money’s worth, in my opinion. Greenwood is a bit of a haul from my home downtown, but I certainly hope to find time to revisit Revery! Oh and those owls in the trees outside are NOT real ;)
