I wish I could give 4.5 stars. For Greenwood, this is pretty good(«authentic») Asian food. I’ve eaten here twice. My wife loves the Ramen specials(they do look good). I liked the simmered meat. It’s sort of a hole in the wall, and you may want to ask about the menu items some more. Try the tea salad if you have never had it.

My husband and I were introduced to Kimu, by our Birmi’s neighbors. It is become one of our favorite restaurants and eat there approximately once a week. I really enjoy the savory Special Fried Rice, with its squid shrimp scallops and crab bits. I love the hot sauce and sprinkle it generously all over the dish. Their homemade lemonade is my beverage of choice and if you decide have one of the delectable soups I urged that you bring your appetite.

3.5 Stars. Kimu is more Asian fusion while they do specialize in Burmese dishes. So I planned to skip the ramen, phở, and Americanized Chinese options. I went straight for the pork shan noodles, tea leaf salad, and a cup of Burmese sweet tea. The tea, while quite delicious is most likely instant. I don’t believe it was freshly brewed since there was some undissolved powder at the bottom of the cup. Then came the pork shan noodles. I should’ve known it came with fatty pork near the belly region, but then again fatty pork is one of their main staples. The rice noodles were a little too slimy/overcooked for my liking. Sauce was very rich and it would’ve been nice if it came with a side of broth. It got very hard to swallow halfway… like eating paste. I should’ve gone with my first instinct: pork with pickled mango which comes with rice. The real winner was the tea leaf salad. I would definitely order this again. The flavors are really unique! I believe it fell into the category of: umami, sweet, savory, sour, spicy, and crunchy. It had a mixture of roasted green tea leaves, green cabbage, garlic, tomatoes, hot red and green chilies, salt, sesame seeds, roasted soybeans tossed with fish sauce and lime juice. Be forewarned, it is quite spicy so I recommend you to ask them to tone it down if you’re not into diced Thai peppers mixed in seeds and all. While the Southside is a little drive for me. I’d probably revisit if I’m in the area looking for non-chain and ethnic cuisine.

Fantastic! This little hole-in-the-wall has high quality Burmese food and very low costs. Let’s be honest, when the majority of the clientele are local South Indy/Greenwood folks who immigrated here from Burma, then you know the food will be good. I strongly recommend the meatball phở — drink all of the broth because it’s do good! Note, bring cash for a tip. I paid with a credit card but there’s no line to leave a tip on the receipt.

This place has a really friendly staff and some pretty good food. Some of the food is really good, and some of it is just kinda bland. Their curry is amazing! Very reasonable prices, as well.

A little odd! Advertised as ASIAN cuisine, trying to sell PHO! But based on the number of Burmese Customers it was worth a try. The interior is pretty plain and the décor is non-existent! Service is questionable, but the food was GREAT! Ordered the Burmese Shan Noodle dish with ground chicken! It was FANTASTIC! Don’t expect to be wowed, but expect some good basic food!

Went here to try the Tom Yum(not sure if that’s right) Shrimp soup, and WOW was I so impressed. It was the right amount of flavor, had a good kick to it and enjoyed the noodle option. I added a little bit of lime and it was so delicious. Customer service was ok– and price was decent. If I’m ever in Indiana again I’ll definitely go back.

Stopped here for lunch and ordered the yellow curry with tofu. It was incredibly thick, like gravy, and didn’t have many vegetables in it. My boyfriend ordered a noodle dish with pork belly, and the noodles were somewhat dry and not very flavorful. We tried to ask the waitress some questions before ordering, but there was a language barrier and she couldn’t speak English very well. Overall, I wasn’t that impressed with the food, didn’t finish it and didn’t bother to take my leftovers, which is rare for me.

#31 is great. #33 was ok. Employees were friendly. Great prices, we had two entrees and a tea for $ 18. Atmosphere leaves more to be desires.

I’ve been looking for a good phở place ever since I moved back to Indy. I was super excited when I found this place(found it when I went to Yats one day) and even more excited when I saw the reviews. The boyfriend and I decided to go asap. The first time we tried to go was a Sunday for dinner and we found out they closed at noon. Hmm okay… that’s weird but whatever we decided to try again later that week. Boyfriend ordered the Phở and I ordered a stir fried noodle dish. The prices were great and we were super excited. Then the food came… his phở was bland and the meat was way over cooked. Then there was mine, the chicken stir fried noodles. Not only was my meat also way over cooked and bland but the pieces of chicken were very small. They also never brought the appetizer we ordered. Which after getting our food we decided to just forget about. Our portions seemed very small, we actually left hungrier than we came and ended up stopping for a burger on the way home. I really thought about giving this place one star but thought maybe just maybe we came on an off day and maybe, just maybe one day I will try it again. As I said before the prices were good, I just think my hopes were way to high for this place. Alas, my search for a good phở place in Indy continues.

Officially in need of more Burmese food in my life! Where have you been? Apparently tucked away in Greenwood. My family was a little hesitant at trying Burmese so I had to do some convincing to give them a little nudge to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. They love Chinese & Thai food and many of the items on the menu are influenced from these cultures as well as Indian, Vietnamese, and Japanese. Menu items include: Tom Yum Soup, Phở, Fried Jasmine Rice, Stir Fried Noodle Dishes, Curries, Ramen Bowls, and authentic Burmese dishes served with steamed rice. My In-Laws who were hesitant to dine here completely surprised me and asked the server to bring them whatever she recommended which was the Pork Ramen Bowl. They both really enjoyed this dish. My husband and I both had the Spicy Chicken Burmese Shan Noodles. Get this! It’s a bit spicy(not overly so), full of rice noodles, vegetables, scallions, and a lot of flavors swimming all up in there. Sort of reminds me of Pad Thai but in a soupier sort of way. You simply stir all the flavors together and then add a broth to the dish which comes on the side. All of us are eager to return & try more dishes. if only Kimu was closer. Would love to see a Burmese restaurant open in Indianapolis. Other notes: Get the hot sweet Burmese tea, meals fall between $ 6-$ 11 which is a steal for what you get. Portions are large. I’m holding back a star only because they could use a little background music to lighten the atmosphere a little. It was a little uncomfortably quite in there even with the larger groups dining around us.

Really well prepared food. I tried this restaurant due to the good reviews on Unilocal and was very pleased. I had the Burmese noodles and the vegetable soup for $ 7 at dinner. Big portions with a great peanut topping on the noodles, which were similar to Thai glass noodles. Will definitely return.

I really enjoyed going to Kimu. I had lunch this past week. I had the number 24 Special Bowl for about $ 11. The broth is really good, but I have had better. The seafood was cooked perfectly. There were various vegetables and these were tasty. I wish this came with some fresh herbs and lime. This is just my preference. However, the quality for the priced paid makes this a four star experience. The place is not fancy and has a different but good feel to the place. Almost like a home kitchen meets a small restaurant. There are a couple other places that make a better Phở, but having Phở options is a good thing. I think I could eat Phở everyday .If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. Let’s all keep supporting the true food scene in Indiana.

Real authentic Burmese. There is nothing Americanized about this place. Inside is very sweet and looks like a restaurant would in Burma. Tried the stir dry noodles and they are great. The food is generally pretty spicy but they put the spices on the side which is nice. Another customer also recommended the green tea salad and said she travels far to get it. Woman behind the counter was very sweet. She said her english wasn’t that great but I thought she spoke english pretty well had no problems communicating with her.

This place is one of two Burmese food places you can find around the area. The service is good for a family owned business. The food of course is great. The selection is great. Must stop place for foodies.

Loved this place. The food was good and the service was great. I got the #39 the pickles mango and beef. They have curry but it is not spicy like Indian. Not of a creamy soup. The lady who served is worked with us on what we wanted and allowed us to try things. Asked if we liked it. I love the place next door«yats» but kimu is giving them a run for their money. :)

It’s a nice family run restaurant, right next to Yats. Actually, I like it a lot more than Yats. The owner lady is also pretty nice. Yes, will be back soon.

In general, my experience was good. The décor was simple and attractive, the service was prompt and friendly, and the food was good. My meal wasn’t exactly inexpensive, but I received a large portion. Their satellite radio signal was kind of crappy, but I survived. I ordered soup #20(I can’t remember its exact name), the one with rice noodles and the little eggs in it. It was quite tasty, perhaps a little too tasty, actually. I personally enjoy letting food mostly speak for itself without a bunch of extra salt to bring out flavor. With this soup, I felt like I was ingesting too much flavor, maybe too much salt. That said, I really did enjoy it. I just couldn’t eat very much of it. And there was a lot of it. Thank goodness for to-go containers. The«sweet hot tea» was very nice, and I will get it again if I return. Will I go back? It seemed like a decent restaurant, but I didn’t feel like it was for me. I may go back to try something else one of these days. P. s. They didn’t accept AMEX. No big deal, just FYI.

Best kept secret, for sure. It doesn’t look like much from the street… and is pretty standard on the inside, but it’s all about authentic food when you get down to it. Hubs and I were the only non-asians in the place — always a good sign. I should have told the waitress to bring me her favorite dish. I had no idea what I was ordering by looking at the names; rolling the dice seemed to be the best way to decide. And I got a WINNER! Super affordable. Great food. Large portions.
