We used to like Krolls West when we went as a group but as time went on the food got so greasy and the service went down hill. We don’t go there any more, and I don’t miss it at all. There is a waitress that we really like that is very nice, Sara, but other than that, we do not care for the food.

Came here after many of the locals stated it was a must go to. It was a disappointment. I got an Order of loaded tots and a big K cheeseburger. The total was nearly 14. I don’t mind paying extra for amazing food but I couldn’t taste meat under all the ketchup they put on it. As I sit here and type this I can’t help but be disappointed that I will be wasting over 15 with tip. A waitress(not even mine) noticed I wasn’t eating my burger she asked if everything was ok. I shrugged my shoulders and she asked what was wrong. I stated I was disappointed with my burger. She quickly apologized and offered to make a new one for me. She asked multiple times and I kindly declined. She walked away. She came back a few minutes later and asked if I was going to eat it. I stated no. She picked up the burger and took it away. She came back a very short time later with a new bill. I didn’t even ask. I figured I would take it home and my son would eat it. I may not like their bitter burger today but I probably will be back to try something different because they care about their customers. Like I said, if this waitress who wasn’t even mine didn’t ask me they never would have known I was unhappy. Not all taste buds are the same but great customer service will bring me back to try something else!

Overpriced, overrated burgers. Not even a plate, they serve it on a sheet of paper. Living exclusively on their location across from Lambeau Field. Anywhere else they’d be closed. This place needs a serious attitude adjustment.

THE place to go for burgers! Quick service and friendly atmosphere. Have a beer while you wait, or a milkshake they have it all. I haven’t had anything else on the menu as a main dish, I go for the burgers. Friends with me have had the chili and said it was very good.

I once loved Kroll’s West and have been an occasional diner for a few decades. Kroll’s has never been the most low-priced hamburger joint, but the prices now have gone up too high. The burgers, wraps, and salads are tasty but the plating is a sad sight. The staff is always very young and very inexperienced. As such, the ordering process is usually awkward and without refinement. Apparently, you’ve opted to focus on the Packers’ tourism and you’ve forgotten your core base of local supporters. Well, it’s Kroll’s East or bust.

This place hasn’t changed since my first pizza burger here 30 years ago! But seriously would it hurt for the waitresses to crack a smile? We grabbed a booth, were looking at the menus when our«delightful» waitress approached asking us if we were ready to order. We said we needed a few minutes and she said, «then push that button when you’re ready.» How about«Hello, welcome to Krolls, would you like some water or something to drink?» We settled on soup and a sandwich, pushed the button and she came back… not saying a word, just standing with her order pad and pen looking upset with us. By no means were we rude or painful asking for special treatment. The ruben was solid, but our soup never came until we asked the delivery guy to check on it. Overall, food was fine, nothing remarkable but think I’ll leave this place to the history books with the surly staff(including the gal at the cash register).

My friend and I were in Green Bay for the night, and decided it was time to try somewhere new to eat. We both decided to give Kroll’s a shot. For all of the talk I hear about Kroll’s being an awesome place to eat, I was incredibly disappointed with my experience. Walking in, I wondered if I was at the right place. The décor was outdated and the seating was uncomfortable. In addition to being a «Seat Yourself» type of place, you also had to «Push Button For Service.» I should have taken all of these things as signs to just walk out and go somewhere else, but the locals always rave about it so I had to see for myself. I ordered the chicken strip dinner, as I had been craving chicken strips all week. It came with two sides, a roll with butter, and your choice of dipping sauce. My friend ordered a milkshake, cheeseburger, and fries. Her overpriced milkshake came to the table in a Styrofoam cup. I could accept this if we had been eating at a fast food restaurant, but we went to a sit down restaurant. A real cup would have been a nice touch. Maybe even a spoon? I only saw the girl who took our order once. The food was brought out by someone else. Your receipt is brought right to you when your food is(does anyone at this place want to see the customers?) and you pay on your way out. This in itself was a fiasco. I requested the dipping sauce for my chicken strips when the food was brought out(I previously stated what I wanted when my order was taken, as the menu suggested it came with the meal). When my dipping sauce was brought out, the individual said that he would need to charge me for it and quickly left to print another receipt for me. He then came back and explained to me he needed to charge me for it. I stated that I thought this came with the meal, as it was listed on the menu that it did. He rushed off to print another receipt and bring it to the table so that I wouldn’t be charged for the sauce. Each time he brought a receipt back, he had to rip the old one off of the ticket and staple the new one on. This confusion caused multiple interruptions before I was actually able to settle in and eat my dinner. The food was… not great. The chicken strips were dry and flavorless, the dipping sauce was horrible(it tasted like Great Value brand), the mac and cheese was clearly made in a microwave, and roll was not fresh… the fries were decent. My friend described her burger as being«more onion than burger.» She was clearly not satisfied either, but she doesn’t usually complain. While we were paying for our meals on the way out, I noticed that mints were 10 cents. Mints are typically complimentary at a restaurant, so this blew my mind. Yes, 10 cents is not a lot, but if you need to charge for mints why do you have them at all? This was a disappointing experience with bad service and even worse food. I will definitely not be back.

Kroll’s West is a legendary restaurant, across the street from Lambeau Field. This place is famous for its Cheese Curds(fried cheese) and its classic burgers. I ordered the burger and cheese curds, and they were fantastic. I totally see why these items are the most popular on the menu. It truly is apart of the Green Bay Packer legacy. Once you enter they have pictures many members of the Green Bay Packers alumni. I can’t wait to return…

Dear Kroll’s, I have always loved you as a child. With your delicious butter burgers packed with a full tab of butter on a toasted roll. Add a side of fried mushrooms and a small strawberry shake and I used to be in heaven. I really want to love you as an adult but alas I cannot. You are mediocre at best now. The size of your burgers has shrunk over the years while your prices have skyrocketed. I sadly prefer McDonald’s burgers to yours now. It is a shame because I want to come back and have the same experiences I had when I was young but time after time lately I have been let down. We have to break up and I will miss you old pal. I hope in the future you change your ways and I can enjoy you again. Especially because you are so close to my home. Bye bye old friend!

A greasy, heart attack, dive of a place… And worth every cholesterol bomb. It’s not fine dining. Let’s get that out of the way first. The burger was delivered wrapped in paper. That’s it. No plate. Just a greasy white wrapper. And what was wrapped in its translucent package? A juicy, flavorful, butter burger. Great flavor. The grilled chili dog was great. Homemade chili over a natural cased dog. All in all … Worth the eats. A little pricy for what you get, but I’d come back.

This place was SUPER hyped up to me by locals in the know who had moved away and love its nostalgia. We were in town for a game at Lambeau with our local friend and a famous Kroll’s butter burger is all they wanted in the world. Of course, when you have pals in your home town, they have to eat the things you love — so we were told about this butter topped burger for literally years in advance and were stoked about the chance to try it. We got into Green Bay in time for a bite and went over there at about 8pm on the night before the football season opener, the place had a bunch of peeps in it, but unfortunately their signature butter burger was lackluster and frankly, the meat tasted like it has been sitting around for awhile and overdone. They definitely were not made fresh when we ordered them. I can appreciate the flavor profile for sure, I mean, it’s literally a beef burger on a toasted bun with the usual suspect toppings and a piece of melting butter right on the meat — very much like a steak with butter on top as a reference. It sounds like it should be super decadent and I think years ago it probably was — but the neighborhood informed us that the ownership has changed a few times and with the changes, they’ve lost the level of love the locals used to pump towards them. The side dishes however, are solid. Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, potatoes wedges, etc. We also ordered cheese and broccoli bites that won the table overall. I think it’s a must if you’re visiting the area, but maybe go on game day when it’s so busy they’ll be forced to freshness — I’d try it again if the chance came around, just on the hype alone but this time was disappointed.

We were there on a Friday night and waited for a table to open up. We were sat at a table that had not been cleaned yet, and had to wait awhile for it to be cleaned. Server was friendly, but rushed. Food was average but expensive. It’s location next to Lambeau probably keeps it going, but I doubt I will be back to see them anytime soon.

Kroll’s West and East are Green Bay classics. If you are going to Kroll’s expecting a fine dining experience you are foolish and wrong. You go to Kroll’s to get a butter burger, fries, cheese curds, chili or a milkshake. The butter burgers are the best part, dripping with a hot pad of butter. The push for service buttons are cool and nostalgic, it’s a part of the Kroll’s experience. I have been going to Kroll’s my entire life and would recommend it to anyone that isn’t vegan or vegetarian.

Finally achieved my life long dream of eating a butter burger!!! Thank you Krolls! It was delicious but I felt there could have been a little more butter, does this make me a dairy nutter? Perhaps a butter nutter? Full marks though for the mint milkshake! Yum! I haven’t had one of those since I was about 10 and jumping pyjamas talk about that milkshake keeping me young! I don’t need fancy face cream or gallons of water to hold back the curse of ageing, no I just need the sweet, thick tonic of a Krolls mint milkshake! Feels pretty boss to have discovered the secret of eternal youth, there you go universe, I share the secret that has alluded billions before me. Aside from the burger and the life changing milkshake, I managed to find room in my eating pants for some cheese Kurds. Thankfully I am on the road heading out of Green Bay as we speak or I would be trading in my petite jeans for serious sweats. Krolls you are the sonny to my Cher.

My husband insisted we eat here due to Alton Brown’s suggestion. Although I really, really love AB, I cannot say I agree that this is a must go place. The restaurant itself has a certain old charm, but everything else killed it for me. The server, a young man, was just plain rude and a lousy server. I sat waiting for water my whole meal, never getting it. We all got the cheese curds and nobody was impressed. My husband had the butter burger and enjoyed it. Overall, it was not a nice experience and the food didn’t help me.

Our family went here as we were taking a tour of Lambeau Field and we wanted to try a local place. My dad picked Kroll’s because it was local and had a good reputation. Unfortunately, the experience we had was terrible. We had a group of 8 which did not work well for the«seat yourself» mentality as there are few tables large enough for 8 comfortably and the ones that are were not wheelchair accessible(my grandfather was with). We ended up at a corner booth that fit 4 on the booth and 4 chairs. It was very tight. Looking around the décor was very dated and looked very worn down. We looked through the menu and decided on drinks and food before asking for service through the«push button for service» system that they had(really? Way to make people feel special…) We found out when the waitress arrived that several items that were on their menu online were no longer available. Our waitress(who had no personality and could care less about her job much less us) told us that they didn’t have the beer we asked for. We pointed it out on the menu and she went back and mysteriously found it this time. One of my family ordered a brandy old fashioned which took about 15 minutes to arrive. Several of the family ordered large soft drinks(had to get the large to get free refills) but never saw the waitress again to get them, or our water, refilled. I ordered the tenderloin steak sandwich done medium and when it came was instantly disappointed. It was, at best done rare as there was a ½ inch or more of uncooked meat in the middle. I was only able to eat a few bites before worrying about the food safety of the product. My wife got the chicken dumpling soup which was horribly salty(she had to add water to it in order to eat it) and was nothing to write home about. Overall, a few items that the family got were good: the French fries, veggie burger, and the perch sandwich. Other than that, a severe disappointment and a place we will not return to. The service we received was horrendous and the idea of pushing a button for service makes you feel like you are not important to the restaurant. They need a reminder that we can make anything they offer at home just as well but we are paying them to cook it correctly for us and provide a high level of service to keep us coming back. Would not recommend!

Krolls is located right next to Lambeau Field. If you don’t see the sign you will miss it though. Had to try tbe Prime Rib sandwich that has been featured on Man vs Food. And an order of Cheese Curds is a must … the service is so so but the food makes up for it. This place kind of gives you that old diner feel.

Warning: Krolls is not for everyone. But it makes me weak in the knees. To put Krolls in perspective, I was thinking about it too much one Sunday and drove from Milwaukee to Green Bay and back just to have it. It’s not fancy and it’s not Kobe beef, but it’s the greasy yummy burger I crave. The bun is crispy, the ketchup cheese and butter(yes butter) ooze together to form a perfect juicy greasy river that flows into your mouth with every bite. I think when Solly’s makes a burger they(poorly) attempt to mirror Krolls. Also amazing at Krolls are their cheese curds. They are in a primo location literally across the street from Lambeau. What’s unique about Krolls is that its so old school and old in general that you have buzzers at your table you can press whenever you want to bug the server. This comes in handy because it can be relatively slow service at times. But that don’t matter, cuz once you get the burger you forgot about anything negative that may have happened before. Krolls cheeseburger are a very distinct style and taste and it’s one that gets my heart beating fast. I have to stop thinking /talking about Krolls now, or I’ll find myself in Green Bay. Til next time. In the meantime, I’ll daydream about the addicting taste of Krolls.
