Best French breakfast in the berkshires. Even if you are French you will not be disappointed.

The food is good at this high-end sandwich deli. But they’re really not the gourmands they like to think they are. They sell simple sandwiches made of high-quality ingredients. Other than that, there’s not much in the way of talent. As for ambiance and hospitality … it’s lacking. There’s one big picnic table in this cramped space. The owner enjoys nitpicking customer behavior and seems to serve her friends and regulars first, regardless of who ordered when. If you’re going to eat this expensive food(and it is tasty), I suggest taking it to go. It’s an unpleasant environment for dining. WARNING: Don’t ever chew gum or have your own water bottle. The owner has been known to make public spectacles of such heathens. Let’s hope you’re up to her social standards.

Spending time in Great Barrington and I continue to find more and more great food spots. So here is a place that from the street you might drive by and not take notice of. Once I stepped inside looking for lunch, I knew that I made a good choice. My thought is that it is French but it comes across like an Italian specialty sandwich shop. I chose a sandwich off of their chalk board menu. Saucisson Sec with butter, cornichons and some mesclun greens on a baguette. I had never heard of Saucisson sec before but it was like a thinly sliced dried sausage. It was really good. The seating is spartan with one long communal table. Not a dining place. I can see going back for specialty items and another specialty sandwich. They sell olive oils, balsamic vinegars and other stuff too.

Really fine french/Italian deli. Specializing in cheese and meet. Make sure you try their olive oil bottled on site.

Had the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life here. Some indescribably delicious tuna on baguette with very thin slice of gruyère cheese and very thinly sliced tomatoes plus lots of wonderful olive oil. Everything else was wonderful as well. There are also lots of great groceries very carefully selected from France and other countries in Europe to take home. Not to mention the curated selection of olive oils which the owners have lovingly assembled. This place would be outstanding even if it were in France. In Great Barrington Massachusetts WOW.

The best baguettes I’ve had in the U.S. This European style café and charcuterie should be a regular stop on any trip through or even near Great Barrington. I can’t tell you the cost of anything because I didn’t pay the tab. But I understand the price was quite reasonable for our Brie Baguette that we shared. We just wanted something small to hold us until dinner. Both of us said we would have had no problem eating the entire baguette if we weren’t going to dinner later. I think they occasionally change the ingredients in the numerous baguettes. On this day, the Brie version also had avocado and mustard I think. It was delicious. The baguette was definitely the star, however — crispy and crusty on the outside, soft and fresh on the inside, and full of fresh baked bread flavor. On our next trip, a bag of baguettes will be coming home with us. (Rumor has it that Phở Yum in Colonie makes their Banh Mi with these baguettes.) The coffee was very good also.

Bizalion is a fantastic establishment. I live on the upper west side of Manhattan and I have enjoyed frequenting many of Daniel Boulud’s restaurants; including his Epicerie Boulud, which is quite similar to Bizalion in regards to its menu and casual environment. Hands down, Bizalion blows Mr. Boulud’s food out of the water. The food here is always excellent down to the last detail. The bread that is baked fresh in house is one of my favorite elements of the excellent sandwich selection. I highly recommend Bizalion, you will not be disappointed.

This French hold out was old world charming. I had the spinach quiche with a side of arugula. My partner in crime had a sample platter of sorts with cuts of french bread drizzled with a small amount of olive oil, hard boiled egg sliced in two, chick peas, potatoes slices with onion and tuna topped with anchovies drizzled again in olive oil. I know to many of you this probably doesn’t sound appealing like the ideal typical American buffet and maybe even a bit unusual, but it was healthy, visually appealing and unmistakably European. I don’t know what it was about this place, either the simplicity or the freshness of the ingredients that made it four stars, but its definitely a locale to visit.

A wonderful find in the Berkshires. It does not look like much on the outside, but be sure not to miss it. If you seek fine artisan European and local foods, look no further. Olive oils, mustard’s, bacon, sausages, venison, pates, pasta’s special and delicious. Or, sit and have a wonderful salad and cheese or a sandwich for lunch. This place is a treat!

My 1st impression was: European finesse, quality, specialty. Intriquing & pallet pleasing variety of world cheeses(Spain, Italy, France) as well as those made locally here in the Berkshires. We tried the blue cheese wrapped in chestnut leaves– amazing, beautiful tender crisp not overly brined green olives from Provance– delish! Charcuterie, espresso, pâté, chocolates. The olive oil tasting is a nice option. I particularly loved the organic Albagues Cataluna from Spain– notes of artichoke & very reasonably priced for a finishing oil. They also offer a wide variety of specialty imported retail & honey. I also purchased lamb sausage from Spain– no nitrates. Spoke to the owner @ length & found him pleasant & knowledgable. A nice panini menu. Quaint communal dining table, high ceilings, lots of light from the large windows. Pleasant back ground music. A wonderful option for specialty foods, grab a picinic lunch, or for a leisurely lunch in this rural area I look forward to returning when I’m up visiting the area again.

I have been a customer since day one. The first point i need to make is this is a French establishment, not subway. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is very french and the service too is French. By the way, they make their food the way i love it, just like Paris!!!

Pretentious, with very poor service. The selections of cheeses, salads and baguettes is great, and the quality is generally above average. But the owner is a pain!
