Both my husband and I were treated rudely by two different staff members in two different departments. I asked the woman at the front desk where the meat thermometers were and she rolled her eyes, sighed and rudely responded by pointing to the back corner, I didn’t even bother asking where I could find a turkey baster. My husband was looking for the bathroom and went down the wrong stairs, when he asked the lady down below if there was a bathroom there she didn’t even look up from what she was doing and in a really horrible tone of voice said there were no bathrooms only an employee bathroom upstairs. We went there to try to support local business by buying our holiday necessities there instead of a chain store but with service like this we will think twice before shopping here again. Everything is pretty overpriced anyway but that wouldn’t matter to us if we were treated with more respect by the staff. Happy Holiday’s!

Tess’s Kitchen is the best kitchenware, foodie story that we have been to. Great staff, incredible items, fair pricing are just the beginning of the experience. The Chefs Table dinners are not to be missed. Come from wherever you are but book early. We were very fortunate to get in.
We look forward to going to one of the many classes that are available. What a fun place!

This is my favorite kitchen toy store. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly! The products offered are quality, yet fairly priced. The cooking classes are top notch and the Chef’s Table is a MUST DO!!!

We attended the chef’s table last night and it was awesome!!! The food was fantastic… especially the goat cheese salad:). The wine pairings were spot on. We will definitely be going again!

We’ve spent a lot of money at Tess’ over the years and have usually had a good experience and helpful staff. However we bought a $ 125+ Keurig coffee maker which stopped working after 4 months of use. 4 months of light use, just my husband drinks coffee. We took it back and the 3 people at the counter were less than pleased. We were told that we should have changed the filter (after 4 months?). They begrudgingly exchanged the unit for the display unit, did not smile once, did not apologize, and even after I apologized and thanked them, they gave us blank, frosty stares. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Although I really like shopping there, I’ll think twice about going in, if if’s smiles when you’re spending money and icicles when returning a defective product.

Incredible selection and customer service, but now in ADDITION to the phenominal cooking classes that they have been offering for quite awhile, we just participated in the most sensational «demonstration dinner» imaginable. Steve and the gang at Tess’ Kitchen Store just seem to keep coming up with new ways to keep Tess’ on the front burner!

Really fun place with everything you might need for your kitchen and more! I love their selection of flavored olive oils and vinegars downstairs. Around the holidays, I usually purchase everything a bottle of a different flavor and we all have a great time testing them out. So much good stuff here!

Tess’ is always a destination for me and my foodie friends. Now they’re offering cooking classes. The instructor, Roberta, is a CIA trained chef. A very detailed teacher and invites comments, questions and even constructive criticism from the class. The classroom/​kitchen is outstanding… even has a POV camera so if you seat isn’t perfect there’s a 50″ or so monitor to see what’s happening. This is a HANDS ON approach class so you really get in the action. No sitting around, listening to a lecture. Besides the excellent instruction, I also enjoyed sharing ideas, tips and camaraderie with other cooks. The staff makes you feel welcomed and special. Can’t wait to take another class…

I have never been more rudely treated by a local business. I have given them 3 separate attempts to get my business. I have been in there when the store had not another customer in it and the people that work there not even bother to acknowledge me.

Whenever I’m on Mill Street in Grass Valley I HAVE to stop at Tess’ Kitchen Store. Of course, whenever I need quality cooking equipment it’s the first place I think of too. They have a huge selection of the latest cooking «must haves» as well as cook books and some specialty foods. My favorite thing about this store, aside from their selection, is their wonderful customer service. The employees are always friendly and helpful. They’ve recently moved to a new location (on the same street as before) that’s spacious and well organized.

I’ve been in love with this store since I first entered it long ago. The staff is always friendly to us when we go in. I absolutely love the large selection of quality cookware they have and the amount of choices you have. I’ve bought so many pieces of kitchen equipment here. My husband and I registered with Tess’ for our wedding and the associate that went around with us and wrote everything down that we wanted was a huge help — very kind and sweet. It really makes you feel special when you walk in and see your name up on the board for that month’s weddings — it’s such a great, homey store and it really embodies the spirit of a small town. :)

Absolutely gorgeous, with a great selection of cooking/​kitchen items! You can find anything you need here. The owner Steve came into DanaeMarie’s recently for a haircut. What a nice guy, and so involved with the community. I love that!

I adore kitchen products and enjoy visiting shops that sell them. I do not enjoy visiting this shop. My main issue here is the lackluster/​non-​existent «service.» I have visited the store about eight or nine times in the past few years and not once have I been spoken to by an employee here. I have never been greeted upon entering, I have never been asked if I needed help finding anything, and I have never been thanked or been told to have a nice day upon exiting the store. All I’m looking for is standard customer service, instead I am just blatantly ignored. I am rather baffled by these five star reviews and vexed by their proclamations of excellent customer service. I have not experienced that here.

This is an AMAZING store. It is really well-​organized, has tons of high-​quality cookware & anything a cook could ever fathom needing.
Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. Not pushy at all.
I went there today to spend a wedding gift certificate & I couldn’t have been happier with our purchases – both quality & price wise.
I stop by many times just to browse because of my love affair with high-​quality cookware.

I love going to this store. Has some great kitchen items, and they only carry high quality kitchen supplies (Which is important for a Home Chef!). Not too expensive, and they often have items that I cannot find anywhere else. Whoever does their inventory gets an A+! Very friendly associates that always are willing to help you with whatever you need.
And speaking about customer service! I called and needed 12 ramekins about 3 weeks ago. They held the last 12 for me in the store until I got there about 4 hours later. They had them all wrapped and ready to go. I will continue to come here, even if it is over an hour away!
