We stumbled upon this place while strolling downtown Grass Valley. The winemaker’s wife is very personable and informative about not just the winery but the Nevada City /​Grass Valley area. The winery itself is located about six miles away.
You’re treated to several complementary tastes of their wine, with some unusual varietals such as fiulano, rkatsiteli, and teroldego. I would recommend a quick stop here in this historic building, c. 1846.

This place is really cute, and the wine-​makers wife is really sweet and wonderful. They claim to have different flavors than anything you’ve ever had before, and they were right! They do interesting blends with varietals from a plethora of places in Italy. I wasn’t super blown away by anything, but it was free– so I’d probably give it another try.
