Service has gone down hill. Went in on a Saturday afternoon, ordered chips and guacamole. Gave up after waiting 15 minutes

Food and service is outstanding, and Im not the only one that thinks so. The place is always crowded. Have a great selection of craft beers and drinks, but the bar is very very small, so I don’t get to sit there very often. When they served breakfast it was outstanding.

This is one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in the DFW area! I have been here several times since they opened a few years ago and I’m still not tired of the food. The chips and salsa are very unique and delicious. The tacos are amazing and you have to pair it with a margarita! If you live in the Grapevine/Colleyville area, you need to come here!

SoCal Tacos has become my favorite go to place to friends or business partners come in town. The menu is all fresh food and so creative. There is a taste for every liking and the staff and environment is so friendly. You gotta try it! You will love it! My advice — Ask for the surf and turf taco. It isn’t on the menu though.

Brisket, salmon, pastor & Newport tacos. Very good! Expensive though. Tacos are $ 3.50-$ 5EACH. For 4 small soft tacos and 1 drink it was around $ 20. Salsa was no where to be found and we weren’t offered any. Would go again, but only with a BOGO coupon otherwise we will hit up a less expensive place. It’s TX, tacos are everywhere and they typically come with free chips & salsa but not here.

Good tacos. Everything a la carte. Allows nice variety. Full bar in back, café type seating. A lot like torchy’s tacos

We ordered one fried fish taco, one smoked brisket and two Game Changers, salmon. None of the tacos tasted fresh. There was chunks of fat in the brisket. The salmon was dry. The atmosphere was noisy needs sound attenuation. 4 tacos two ice teas .$ 24.

So it’s been a while since I’ve been and decided to have tacos for lunch today. They messed up my order yet again. :( Not sure if it’s the young staff or the cooks who don’t read the tickets right? Sigh…oh and let’s not forget that the damn soda machine has been out of flavors! Wth So needless to say for the price of these lil tacos I won’t be back even tho I love a few blocks away!

I spent $ 13.00 on two tiny under seasoned tacos and a canned coke. The shrimp had no seasoning. The al pastor was average. I’m disappointed and wouldn’t eat this again. It was a very small portion. The two tacos together are visually smaller than the 12 oz can of coke.

Fresh-tasting food and friendly staff are two good reasons to give So-Cal Tacos a try. The restaurant has a breezy, laid-back California feel that makes it a great choice for a casual lunch, or dinner. We ordered chips and queso to start, and didn’t regret it. The chips were homemade and fresh — not delicate little oven-baked things, but sturdy, deep fried wedges of tortilla that can accommodate a generous helping of the creamy, flavorful queso. I also grabbed a couple different tacos for dinner. Two was just the right number for me, especially after wolfing down more than my share of the queso. My favorite was the al pastor, juicy and flavorful and garnished with a cheerful little lime wedge. I also had the fish taco, which was topped with a kind of purple cabbage slaw. Very colorful and tasty, although the taco was heavier than I was expecting, as the fish was more of a firm, well-fried fillet rather than light flaky morsels. The margarita on the rocks was light and refreshing, although loaded with ice. I think next time I’ll try the frozen margarita. There are so many other tacos on the menu that I’m definitely planning a return trip!

We were introduced to So-Cal Tacos during a Unilocal Elite Event, but we have since gone back again because we liked this place so much. Having spent so much time in San Diego, I can say that the vibe and food of this place is spot on. I had my first fish tacos in San Diego, and I found their San Diego fish tacos almost as good. Obviously, you can never recapture that first experience, but this place gets it pretty darn close. During the event, the owner was personable and really seemed to care about his patrons and employees. His attitude was obviously infectious because his employees were just as attentive. Everyone had a bright and sunny disposition, and when we needed anything, we got it. For the most part, we found that this personability stays on normal visits. Of course, employees are a little more attentive when the boss is around, but the customer service here is great. The owner’s story is inspiring. My mother is a cancer survivor, and I’m always inspired by other stories of survival. Plus, the way he used that tragedy to create something so beautiful is amazing. As for the food and drinks, it was alllll gooood. =) The margaritas were a great mix of tart and sweet. We’ve now had about five or six different varieties of their tacos, and other than the chicken tacos, they’ve all been amazing. In fact, my only complaint is that they don’t have hot enough salsa. Even there ghost pepper salsa seems a little mild to me, but I’ve been told my heat tolerance is a bit ridiculous, so it’s entirely possible that it’s just me. Oh, by the way, their breakfast tacos are cheap, on point, and served all day. That alone gets them an extra star in my book! All in all, this place is a go. I think if you’re looking to find a new taco experience, this place offers it. I wouldn’t recommend driving an hour, but 30 minutes seems legit.

What an awesome taco shop! As soon as you walk in you begin your so cal journey to taco greatness. The staff is super friendly and most of them have been with the company since its start. The owner is super engaged and cares about every customer’s experience. I went with the Al Pastor and Steak tacos this evening and they were by far the best quality and tasting tacos I’ve had in memory. The Al Pastor flavors were dialed in, tasting unlike anything you’ve had before. The steak tacos, come with huge chucks of moist beef cooked to perfection. The chips are nice and thick, and the perfect companion to their pico de gillo. I’ll be bringing the family back next time, as I can’t keep this place to myself!

Okay, seriously… I’m inhaling my San Diego tacos as I craft this review. We had an Elite event here on Monday and I am back on Thursday in the middle of the day… so that should definitely be the first clue that I love this place. I’ve got lots of reasons to want to visit this place, so here goes in no particular order: 1.) I love the vibe and atmosphere. Beachy meets 1950’s diner. I’ve always had a thing for poodle skits and a 50’s diner, but throw in my nostalgia for my family vacations as a kid to southern California and i’m definitely in love.(Just ask my brother and sister about the time we bought souvenirs at the surf shop and had to take a family shot of tequila!) Anyway back to SoCal Tacos… Its clean, bright, cheery and super west coast. It makes me want to say«Your margaritas are ‘Hella’ awesome dude! Pass me another!»(and PS they really are!) 2.) The San Diego Taco. Holy Crap. IT. IS. SO. GOOD. Panko crusted tilapia with cilantro aioli and cabbage slaw. You seriously can’t beat it. If I close my eyes I can feel the sand and smell the ocean! I feel like i’ve order off the food truck where SoCal first started.(Does this review seem a little dramatic? Of course it does! But you try visiting the restaurant and see if you don’t feel the same!) 3.) The service is super on pointe. Scott(the owner), Ruben and Lacey(the bartenders) are courteous, proficient, personable and super energetic. I love that I can visit with them as if I have know them for ages when really I just meant them on Monday! As for the kitchen staff. I can see they’re just as awesome while I sit at the bar and watch them communicate with the staff and kick-ass at getting orders out fast, efficiently and deliciously! Give this place a shot. I know that you won’t be disappointed!

Its been a while since my last experience here at So-Cal(2 yrs). I must say being at the Unilocal event my experience was so much better. They were ready to handle us as there was a lot of folks that came to this event. The person who took my order answered all our questions(wasn’t many) and didn’t seem annoyed. I ordered the Al Pastor and Steak tacos. They were both delicious. The Al Pastor was my favorite and then the steak. They were both flavorful and had plenty of onions on top. The margarita on the rocks was really good as well. It wasn’t tangy or too sweet. We did order churro fries which were amazing. It came with strawberry, chocolate, and honey sauce. They were all so good. The chips here are thick and pretty tasty with their fresh salsa. I did enjoy my experience this time around and look forward to coming back!

Went in tonight and had a great dinner. Ordered a steak taco and a chicken taco. The steak was better than the chicken but both were quite good. The staff is very attentive and very friendly. The owners story was quite moving and I am happy to be able to support a family owned business.

Wow the tacos here were wayy better than I expected! I haven’t had tacos this good since Austin. They serve chips and a variety of salsa on the side and they also serve alcohol. The owner of this place has a very heartfelt story of opening this place up and adds a personal vibe to the setting. The beef tacos has some kind of seasoning to them that makes me want to come back for more. I will definitely be coming back!

This place was extremely crowded but also extremely fast with my order. I waited less than 5 minutes to get my food. I had the brisket taco– lots of kick in that taco. BBQ sauce they put on it was delicious and I loved the fried onion strings on top. I also had the pork and steak taco all tacos I had were on a flour Tortilla. Both the pork and steak were cooked to perfection. Extremely juicy and expertly seasoned. I also had the Nachos with queso and steak. Also very tasty queso also has a nice kick. I am definitely coming back here again!

It was ok. Nothing special — similar to other taco places. They can probably add more variety of fillings or maybe I am looking for little more spiced/flavored filling. If I don’t to drive far and want taco will go here. If drive not an problem go somewhere else.

Food is great but very much over priced. Chips and salsa are virtually free at most Mexican restaurants around here so to pay $ 3.50 for them is kind of an insult. Tacos are over priced. Beers are way over priced. I’ve gone here a few times — just can’t justify the cost any longer.

I walked in thinking: «This could be ok.» And so I ordered. The food is awesome. Skip Chipotle. Go here. Fresh food. They threw down a giant guacamole cup. Oh and the owner literally patted me on the back while I was typing this review. I’m impressed.

Nice to have some California Mexican to change it up here in DFW area. Had the al pastor quesadilla and I killed it. Literally. I’m wanted by the food police for quesacide. Cheesy and the right amount of pork. Didn’t fall apart too which is common with quesadillas. But maybe because it didn’t last long enough to fall apart. Never forget. I’ve ordered two separate burritos on two separate occasions. I always order no beans and every time they put pinto beans in it. If I had a true allergy to beans I would have some real problems. I guess the morale of the story is check your food before you leave the store and don’t order«complex orders» over the phone.

While Dallas and Fort Worth themselves are stacked on taco options, the middle cities and northern suburbs don’t quite have as much non-chain breadth. Fear not — While So-Cal Tacos doesn’t in my mind trump Good 2 Go, Velvet, El Come, or many of the other top tier DFW establishments, it’s got a great selection, some excellent peripherals, and a comfortable atmosphere. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? With abundant seating, an easy ordering process and quick delivery, So-Cal Tacos caters to the lunch and dinner crowd alike. The staff know their way around the broad menu so they’ll certainly help you out if you’re a newbie. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Like the menu, the pricing at So-Cal Tacos varies quite a bit. While my brisket taco came in at $ 4.99, my sausage breakfast taco came in at a much more reasonable $ 2.50, and my other two(yes, ordering four tacos was too much) fell somewhere in between. These weren’t huge, but they certainly weren’t small either, and there was good value here overall. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Like the breadth of the menu and the range in prices, my four tacos were of variable quality. At the high end of the chart, the brisket taco was excellent, with brisket that tasted as though it came straight out of a top smokehouse. The Al Pastor had a nice traditional street feel to it, and the breakfast taco was noteworthy, with all of the ingredients cooked together as opposed to pieced together. i will say that the San Diego(fried fish) was devastatingly weak especially considering it was slightly more expensive, and there was hardly any actual fish versus some mediocre fried batter and some cabbage. One bad apple out of four isn’t a problem, and I’ll certainly be back to So-Cal to give the peripheral nachos a go given the good reviews. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? So-Cal Tacos hovers between three and four stars, but their truly impressive menu breadth and general solid quality make it such that even nearby Torchy’s isn’t enough to deter me from making SCT a regular lunch spot in what is otherwise a bit of a lacking part of DFW in the taco department. Star Granted.

Visited this evening with my wife for date night. The guy taking orders proved very knowledgable and helpful in choosing what to eat. My wife had the steak quesadilla and loved the flavor and said it was delicious. I had the shrimp taco, San Diego taco, and salmon. Loved the shrimp and San Diego and both had great flavor. I wasn’t crazy about the salmon but it was all right. Staff was helpful, prompt, and friendly. I want to visit again and try the brisket taco. Try this place.

For starters, I did go in at about 8. So *kind of* late. I was pretty excited too, I love a good taco. I ordered a quesadilla and it was SOOO greasy. Like it was in a puddle of grease. The manager told me that specific kind of meat I got was greasy BEFORE being put in a quesadilla, but even so. It was crazy greasy and that’s never good, regardless of the reason. Not so much grease that you have to put a napkin in the bottom of the plate to absorb the grease because your food is sitting in grease, lol. If I haven’t mentioned this already, it was really greasy. There was grease involved. He got a brisket taco, and said it was ok. Nothing spectacular, but it tasted good. We also ordered the quest because the person at the counter recommended it. I’m sure the queso is better in most cases, but ours was, first of all, not hot or melty, and secondly, really chunky. Like it was scraped off the bottom of a crock pot. I am a huge«queso person», so I had higher expectations. The service was pretty good though. And the manager said she would hook it up next time we came in. But I don’t know that I will be back in, to be honest. It’s not hard to find a great taco in DFW, by any means. b

I’ve been meaning to check this place out because of the great reviews, and I was not disappointed! I got the Gamechanger(salmon), and it was heavenly, seriously, one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. They definitely did not skimp on the salmon, and the cheese cubes and sauce were the perfect combination with the fish. It could’ve been cooked a little less though because the salmon was tough in some parts. The atmosphere of this place is resemblance of that of a classic 70s diner. The workers were super friendly. However, the one downside is the temperature inside the restaurant. It was SUPER cold. They had the AC going as well as a couple of fans around the place, making it uncomfortably cool. Regardless, the food made up for it, and I will definitely return to try their other items!

I came in super excited to eat here after seeing the great reviews but was not impressed at all. The food price was a bit over charged, I feel, considering these are simply tacos. Came here for lunch today, Kaitlyn was the girl that helped me and she was very sweet and helpful. I had the shrimp bowl and it was good, I just wished they offered fried shrimp instead of grilled but my waistline is deff not complaining. I oped out of the rice and beans so my bowl consisted of lettuce, guacamole(which wasn’t extra $$ btw so brownie points for that) And grilled shrimp and it sounds plain but it was very good, I added their house sauce on it and it was really yummy. Deff will be coming here again.

It sucks to suck!!! Save yourself some aggravation and disappointment skip this place and go to Esparza’s. The best part of this place is interacting with the bartenders. The steak quesadillas are equal part Gristle and meat. The shrimp quesadillas began really good at my initial visit. However after several visits the quality has steeply declined. In conclusion one of the things that I like best is that this restaurant occupies the space that used to be Zuromas, which was the most disgusting local drunk fest/cigarette smoking contest location i’ve ever seen.

Concerning as in my opinion its going downhill. The last three times I have been in it has been increasingly empty as in No customers. Not sure but I keep thinking they have raised prices also. Tonight, for example at 6PM only two others in the place $ 17 for a burrito, one brisket taco and a fountain drink, would be at least four bucks cheaper at Fuzzy’s. I have a feeling the end is near

At most, meh. There are so many other better, cheaper taco places to choose from Al Pastor & steak taco: decently flavored, but rather boring overall. It needed more veggies, rather than just raw onions Fish taco: so underwhelmed it was just«ok.» The fish was rather unrecognizable Chips and Queso: chips were decent; Queso was bland and under-whelmed Fun and amusing atmosphere Good beer selection Good whisky selection

I have seen a lot of places come and go out of this spot so I naturally did not think this would last or that it was all that good. But boy was I wrong! Their food is very fresh and delicious. Full of flavor! Their tacos are 10x better than anything nearby(fuzzys) their burritos are awesome as well. But the BEST thing here is their shrimp salad! So many places in the area and they all lack good salads. This is my go to place for a quick pick up or stop in for their shrimp salad.

Really happy to discover So-cal Tacos lives up to the hype, and even happier they’re serving such delish Tex-Mex close to home! First visit was an easy 5-star experience from the greeting we received, menu explanation, the damn’ fine tacos they served, to the sincere drop’by’s to see how we were doing. They also have a nice selection of adult beverages that are in line with a nearby competitor. The only, and I mean only downside is the lack of a patio. On a to-hot-to-sit-outside day, it’s perfect! Missing lunch we arrived on the scene around 4:30p for an early dinner and HH(HH is 3p-7p). The manager greeted us with the warmth and sincerity of longtime returning patrons and gave us the skinny on menu items. Between us we had a great menu sampling that included fish tacos, the Pastor, Del Mar and San Diego. The fish tacos are really amazing and much better than any nearby places, as was the guac and pico de gallo. Give them a try, you’ll enjoy!
