We were tired of the truck stop cafes and fast food joints along I-5, so we decided to get off the Interstate and see what we could find. We stumbled upon this grand oasis in the tiny little town of Grants Pass! It’s located right on the banks of Rogue River, next to where the Jet Boat Tours dock. It is a stunning building that is plenty of indoor seating and two levels of outdoor patio seating when the weather is good. The building itself is just gorgeous with huge wood timbers, rocks and a very natural, Western lodge house look to it. It is surrounded by landscaping that is more akin to a park with a waterfall and stream running through it. The inside is tremendously warm with lots of oak and big windows. The detail work is just outstanding and it was, obviously, built by craftsman, not your everyday construction crew. The menu was easy to read and had a wide assortment with sandwiches near the $ 10 mark, salads about $ 15 and entrees going up to $ 25. It was about 1PM on a weekday and it was crowded and the people seemed very pleased with their experience. Nobody had a frown or a displeased look about them. I had their special burger and fries and it was a good rendition of this classic standard. My wife had a nice salad(can’t remember what it was, though) but she was very happy with it. We finished lunch with a shared Berry Cobbler that was very good. The views from inside and seated on the patio are just terrific. This, coupled with good service and decent food made it a real treat for us and surely beats a quick meal on the Interstate! Jim

Easily, the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had in my life. The latte was not bad either! :)
