They have excellent food, but what is the deal with that old Vietnamese guy? He was making me VERY uncomfortable and I do not think I did anything to offend him. There was also an older woman working there who was clearly very annoyed with him.

I had Phở steak. Customer service wasn’t great. The waiter was hard to understand. After 15 minutes of waiting after we had ordered, the waiter told us they had ran out of white rice, and offered vermicelli noodles instead. The place was not busy and we were never checked on, not once, since our food arrived. I’m just glad I don’t live around this area, because I would not come back!

I’m a frequent visitor at phở restaurant s but 14.50 $ for a large soup and small(very small) Thai tea… bogus!!! I’m never going back to this location.

I’m in search of a good Vietnamese restaurant since Bobo Café went downhill yrs ago. Ordered the pork spring rolls & vermicelli bowl with chicken. My friend ordered a soup. The pork in the spring rolls was way too salty. The peanut sauce was watery. Not impressed but ate nonetheless. Vermicelli bowl: the chicken was weird & salty. When I was eating the last part in bottom of bowl, there was a bad taste that I didn’t like in the sauce as the ingredients all came together. Not thrilled with this dish but ate it. Probably won’t be back, still on a search for a great Vietnamese restaurant! The people working here were ok but not engaging & never smiled.

This was our first time to this particular Phở restaurant. Upon entering we were politely greeted and seated promptly. We were given a menu and glass of water. Shortly after we were asked if we were ready to order. We ordered egg rolls, which were really greasy. They lacked a lot of flavor and were saturated in oil. We were then brought our noodle bowls which also lacked flavor and our noodle bowls also had a lot of grease floating around. Overall, the quality of the food was alright and the service was good. I probably wouldn’t return though. Just wanted to try it out.

I am Vietnamese/Chinese and I grew up in San Jose. My review is based on the authenticity of the food as compared to SJ. If you don’t eat Asian food often or not hardcore Asian like me, you’ll like this place. I was craving for Vietnamese food one day. My husband and I drove to this rest. I I ordered a rice plate and my husband ordered a phở. My things on my rice plate were dried. The soup in the phở didn’t taste good. It tasted like it was made from store bought beef broth instead of long hours of cooking the cow bones. The food didn’t look like the pictures on the menu. I was disappointed when I got my food. Overall, the décor, the service, cleaniless of the restroom, and everything else is good.

I personally love this place, I’ve been coming here since it opened! Although the ambience is not exactly up to par, the phở is, and that’s why I’m here! I typically order a number 12; regular phở with just sliced beef. The flavor of the broth is excellent and is always piping hot. The service is nice here, quiet but fulfill their job.

Great Vietnamese food at a decent price. I eat here a couple times a month because it is close to work. Spring rolls are good and noodle dishes are yummy. It is a must try folks!

Started with the spring rolls and was quite disappointed. Spring rolls, in their simplicity, are extremely flavorful when done correctly. But these spring rolls were so blah. It was made of only shrimp, lettuce, vermicelli noodles, and bean sprouts. WTF. I have never had spring rolls with bean sprouts in them. As strange as that was, that wasn’t the biggest crime. Instead, it was the fact that they lacked the fresh herbs like basil and mint. I always eat my spring rolls with fish sauce instead of peanut sauce. The fish sauce was the worst I’ve ever had — tart and watery. Fiancé says the peanut sauce was not good either. Another huge let down — no basil for my phở, only cilantro. No bueno. The phở broth was decent, but I was disappointed the pieces of tendon and tripe were so tiny.

Okay, so the place is actually called Hao Viet(as printed on their store front and menu). I’m not sure if it used to be a Hoa Viet and them changed or what. Besides the point, this place was actually pretty surprising to me. The décor was very modern and up-to-date when compared to many other Asian/Vietnamese restaurants. The things went together nicely and all the the tables/booths/chairs seemed to be pretty new or at least in decent condition. This place — hands down — provided me with the best customer service I’ve ever gotten at a Vietnamese restaurant. They spoke to us instead of barking at us and demanding our orders. They were very attentive and the food came out quick. Their phở was good, not the best, but definitely tasted well-made and was a decent portion. They also have a happy hour menu here, but I wouldn’t really recommend it. Portions are extremely small and it seems more worth it to just get a full order at regular price. My main disappointment was my mango smoothie which was 99.9% artificial and did not have a great taste to it. It was the only thing I couldn’t manage to finish. Overall, I had a very good experience here.

Phở here is good. New staff however yell at each other in front of customers. You’re a restaurant in Roseville/Granite bay… act accordingly. I don’t come to hear you guys bicker at each other.

Pretty good Vietnamese food in Roseville. This place is great for getting your phở fix without having to drive all the way to South Sacramento. Good service and fancy décor, too!

First of all, I believe this place is under new management and is no longer called Phở Bac Hoa Viet. It’s actually called Phở Hao Viet. My friends and I were on the way back from Tahoe, after my hubby and some guys had finishing doing the Tough Mudder, so we were craving for soup. This was the closest place, and Unilocal gave it some fair reviews. First of all, considering it’s in a posh area(Granite Bay), the décor was very nice and modern, not like you’re typical Vietnamese restaurant at all. The workers were all extremely nice and polite, and our waters were always full without asking. I ordered a small bowl of phở with rare beef and tripe.(As always) It was a good size, broth was flavorful, and the noodles were good as well. Everyone ordered phở and seemed pretty satisfied. They also had happy hour where you could order appetizers and drinks for around 3.00. My friend ordered the rare beef dish w/lime. It was such a tease! A very tiny dish that left us wanting more. My sister ordered the mango smoothie, kind of a disappointment because it didn’t taste fresh, and I also tasted some sort of artificial flavor in it, which I hate! Overall it was okay, probably the best place if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food in Granite Bay, but certainly not the best overall.

Alright, I’m a fan of this place. It’s location’s a bit odd and kind of nondescript, but the food is good and the pricing makes it easy for a random weeknight dinner. We went in the first time last week and ended up going back for round two today(I surprised myself by craving phở for lunch). It wasn’t incredibly busy when we were in the first time, but the service was good; very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Their menu is pretty expansive and has a nice range of noodle soups + other Vietnamese dishes. On both occasions I special ordered a pescetarian-friendly phở since I don’t eat meat(beef seems to be a pretty standard option). I got mine with shrimp and tofu and was definitely happy with the mix.(Note: add the basil, mung beans, hot sauce, lime, etc… it all adds a lot to the soup!) My boyfriend had a more standard version + tried the lemongrass beef today and was happy with his order. It’s too hard to pass up getting a large phở(vs. the small) when it’s only $ 1 more, but the large is MASSIVE so be warned. I ended up taking half home the first time and had to break mine up into two servings today. When you’re paying under $ 8 for a large though, it’s hard to beat. Also, don’t pass up on the shrimp spring rolls — they’re quite possibly my favorite thing on the menu. :) Food aside, I should say after today I was really impressed with their friendliness and integrity! My boyfriend somehow left a $ 100 bill on the counter when we left with our lunch order(major oops!) and when we called in about ten minutes later in an attempt to find it, they told us they DID have it and kept it up front for us to pick up. Since honesty and integrity are two things I value, that alone is enough to make me want to come back!

My mother and I come here. We always order the Phở and the Vietnamese Coffee – two important staples in Vietnamese cuisine. And it’s pretty damn good. I’m sad the reviews are not as positive here. I like this place. The staff is friendly. The food comes out quick and its fresh. They’re not stingy on the beans sprouts. The pricing is decent for being in Granite Bay. I like that the owners are Vietnamese, it’s family run, and everyone is down to earth. When I don’t feel like driving to the other side of town to get my fill on authentic Vietnamese food, I come here. I also like that this restaurant doesn’t try to position itself as «fusion» food or a place that sells Chinese cuisine… or whatever bullsh*t so many other places are trying to do these days. Phở Bac Hoa is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant – if you want frills or extra ambiance, go somewhere else – I’ll be eating here.

I’ve gone several times and have yet to be disappointed. I typically order charbroiled pork over vermicelli and its been consistently good each time. To drink, the smoothies are delicious! Last time I ordered a mango smoothie and I was in heaven, even chewing on chunks of fruit as I sipped. Besides my vermicelli dish, the 3 colors sweet drink is my second staple, and I order it every time I go.

Coming here again recently reminded me why I liked the Madison location the best. I try not to base my reviews too much on service since I’m usually just there for the food, but my last visit was an exception. They took unusually long to come back with our order and when it came my order had rice noodles instead of the requested egg noodles. After waiting longer for my corrected order it came back and the meat wasn’t very tender and came with lots of fat and tendon chewy pieces. I hate when my noodles stick and clump together… and that’s exactly what happened! The broth was still good of course, but everything else was pretty dissatisfying. My other visits here were never too bad; they always serve good Crystal Walnut Shrimp, Fried Rice, and Phở. Their beef stew(which happens to be one of my favorites), however, always seems to consistently come with not-so-tender meat and chewy extra tendons. I only come here when I’m in the area and don’t feel like going to the Madison location(where they serve generous amounts of everything btw). This is still the best Vietnamese location in East Roseville/Granite Bay though! Good prices and good food for the most part; just steer away from the beef stew.
