My fiancé and I went here for a cake tasting and the gentleman I spoke with only told me what Indulgence couldn’t do. Very unprofessional, unorganized, and untimely; he acted as though we hadn’t scheduled an appointment. I can’t speak on his product because we didn’t get that far, but I can say the service/management is terrible. He told me the have been in business for 8 years, I’m amazed. UPDATE: Sean W., I’m very appreciative of the fact that you have taken the time to reply to my review. So that I am perfectly clear: it wasn’t a scheduling conflict(as in your business’ availability to provide cake on our desired date) that accounted for your poor service. It was the remarkable disdain you displayed, the startling disrespect you exhibited for our time, and your overall insolent and discourteous behavior. Your disposition poorly portrayed your business. Maybe you are understaffed, but your presentation was so distasteful that regardless of your availability to provide a service, I would have little to no interest in doing business with you. I thank you for your support. I wish you provided a service for which I could be thankful.

Indulgence has yummy cupcakes, savory lunches and they make unique, custom cakes to order! I use them for birthday cakes, most often. I love their mushroom brie soup but I tend to go to their other restaurant, Sassy’s, in the mall(now going to Heritage Square) for lunch.

I was a little underwhelmed by indulgence! I was craving a home made breakfast… But unfortunately my experience fell flat! It all started when I bought two cinnamon rolls to share with my kids while we waited for our burritos and coffee. They were a dollar a piece; the price reflected the taste. They were rock hard and barely had any icing on them! Since I was CRAVING the pastries… I was so sad!!! The burritos were just ok but the coffee was pretty good. I really would like to go back to try some other pastries and to give this local spot a redemption review!

A BIG Disappointment. I purchase gift cards for kids who attend an After School Program for their birthday. One young lady went in with her grandmother to use her $ 10 gift card, and was told by the owner that because it was older than the ones he is currently selling that it probably had been stolen. I stopped in this afternoon to request a refund for another unused gift card(and I had the receipt), but the owner refused to refund it. I would encourage you to take your business elsewhere.

Indulgence is what I would call a contemporary bake shop. Some of their items they have, like certain pastries are very unique. During the fall they had this pumpkin cup cake in a dome shape and it was filled with pumpkin mouse. I though that was very unique and gourmet. Indulgence is definately not your typical granny style bakery. It’s more of a new millennium bake shop, as far as some their sweets selections. I would say what stood out to me was their unique spin on some sweets they have on their menu. But the taste factor ehhhhhh… was fair. During certain times of the year like the holidays they have nice twists on classic deserts. However I have not tried their savory items on the menu, such as sandwiches etc. I’ve only had their sweets. Overall I would say it just so-so.

The little pastries are pretty good in our area but sometimes the cheesecake seems a little gummy like it is not fresh fresh. The pastries are good though.

TL;DR: Do not waste your money on lunch here, stick to the deserts. The coffee is pretty good too, but it depends on who is making it. The lunch at this place has severely declined in quality since its opening. The deserts are still excellent but lunch is a total waste of money for what they are dishing out. I used love their lunch here but now it’s like they don’t even care. I liked their old lunch menu better, this new one just gives you the same sandwich 4 different ways. It tastes exactly the same, bland, flavorless, and sloppy. I was there this week to pick up a mini desert for my boyfriend mom’s birthday, that part was easy. I also decided to get lunch I looked at the board and I told the cashier I’d take the special. She asked me what the special was. I told her roast beef and cheddar and santé fe chili. She said they don’t have santa fe chili today so I then told her she should take that off the board. I still went with the roast beef and cheddar. The guy making it was totally confused about the order and I over heard him say who the heck came up with that. After a few more moments of confusion he began to make the sandwich in haste and told me it will have peppers, roast beef, and cheese on it. I said okay. The sandwich was terrible and was still cold in the middle. The cheese was barely melted. The peppers tasted old and mushy. There was no sauce. It was nearly $ 9 for probably the worst sandwich I’ve tried in South Bend/Mishawaka. This is absolutely last time I will ever get lunch here. Martin’s deli and other places have much better sandwiches at half the cost. This place can in no way justify the cost of their lunch with the quality in which it is made. Also, don’t ever get the pasta salad. It comes in a huge tub and tastes disgusting. The last three times I’ve come here, lunch has been an expensive and terrible disappointment. I like their deserts, but I’m pretty much done with this place, which is sad because I used to come here often in the beginning when they still cared about the quality of their food products.

I used to love this place. I made it a point to eat here every time I flew back home. I stopped in a few weeks ago and ordered my usual sandwich, the goat cheese panini, add chicken. When I received it, I thought they’d given me the wrong item. It was half the size for the same price. The bread was incredibly thin. It moved from a meal to a snack, but the price didn’t. I once recommended this place to everyone, but won’t anymore. What a bummer!

Pretty nice place. The staff isn’t very knowledgeable. I asked them if they made anything that was vegan and she said«I don’t think so» and then proceeded to ask us if salads were vegan. #Wow Other than that the presentation was very nice and the chocolate some was fantastic!

Indulgence has the BEST pastries and cakes. Their chocolate dome is one of my all time favorites and all their sweets are arranged with a beautiful presentation. I also enjoyed my lunch here the other day. I got the Mushroom Brie Soup along with the Tomato, Mozzarella, Bacon salad. The salad was a little on the small side for a full size, but along with the soup and fruit that came with it, was plenty for lunch. All the flavors were just right. Finally, the service was excellent and very quick. The girl who took my order was able to recommend items and my lunch was served very quickly. The eating area was cozy and clean. Overall a great experience!

Get the pastries and try to ignore the semi-surly service. The young lady that waited on us was completely devoid of personality. Not mean, just not anything at all. Does that make sense? I had a wonderful mocha mousse that made me sad when I was finished. My better half had a panini with pasta salad and the pasta salad tasted like boxed pasta salad. Think, «Suddenly Salad» — it tasted exactly like that.

This was rather disappointing. After hearing so many not great things about this place(including from past employees), I decided to give it a try since South Bend is in a dire need a pastry/bake shop. First of all, the cupcakes are wretched. I had a red velvet with cream cheese frosting. The cake itself was moist but rather flavorless. Basically like baked flour. Very reminiscent of a supermarket cupcake. And the frosting! It tasted like cooked off fat from the bottom of pan. The sugar cookies were pretty unappealing as well. You’re probably better off just eating sugar and chalk. They are so utterly dry and flavorless that I nearly prayed for death. I also attempted their raspberry cream cheese brownie which didn’t look that bad. But I was wrong. It was essentially a Little Debbie’s cosmic brownie with a layer of flavorless mush on the top. I was actually surprised that there was literally no raspberry or cream cheese flavor at all. Now how can I justify those calories?! Last but certainly least was the apple cheesecake. Certainly it wasn’t as bad comparatively to the cookie or cupcake, but price wise, it kind of seals the deal on being the most disappointing. The frosting was probably the same as the cupcake, tasted oily and like fat. The cheesecake itself was sort of flavorless. It had a hit of apple, but that was about it. And the crust was sooo dry. Very disappointing. If I could give this place no stars, I would. Whoever the baker is ought to be ashamed. Passing this off as a «dessert» is akin to a crime.

I will start with the good. My family and I have placed many orders with this bakery over the past 5 or 6 years for cakes and pastries. We order around 30 – 40 croissants and danishes ever year at Christmas and cakes and other pastries throughout the year and they have always been tasty and delicious. I never even liked croissants until I tried one from here. As far as the pricing goes, very reasonable for the quality and the amount you get. The specialty cakes, like a birthday cake are delicious and very little more then what you would pay for from a grocery store but much better quality. If I didn’t have a problem, they would have easily got FIVESTARS. Heres the problem, the last birthday cake that we had made here was skimpy and over priced unlike our previous experiences. The cake had only a couple of flowers on it and we brought in 4 butterfly embellishments to add to it and they charged us $ 5 extra to place the butterflies on the cake. First of all it only takes a minute of your time to place the extras on the cake. We have spent hundreds of dollars at this bakery and even if this was our first purchase you should be happy that we chose your bakery to make our special cake and when we ask you to take an extra minute of your time you should do it without being greedy. I wish I could have given you 2 ½ stars. We will no longer purchase our birthday cakes from this bakery.

My first visit here was just okay. Ordered spinach & feta omelet with red potatoes and wheat toast as sides. Food was good. Service was NOT. Unfriendly wait staff… simple. Doubtful I’ll return. Pumpkin latte was decent as well. Not an inexpensive place which would lead one to believe they’d have better service. I’d give 2.5 stars if I could.

I only go here for breakfast foods and ice cream, both of which are VERY good. Weirdly enough, the pastries are always dry! Just recently they put in booths, which are nice. And I love the fact that the two managers(owners?) seem a bit Bert & Ernie, though one looks like the Swedish Chef!

Obviously no one in the town of South Bend has taste buds. You give people the wrong impression about a place when you know nothing about food. A review is an opinion but an opinion means nothing when you have never eaten good food. The carrot cake is awful. If you want the best food indiana has to offer go to Michigan City to Panini Panini Euro Bistro. The carrot cake is worth the 40 minute drive alone but its all homemade from scratch out of this world food! The food is insane.

I stopped in here once or twice to buy some coffee beans, because they had Intelligentsia beans out of Chicago, which previously I could only get from the now-defunct Bella Vita in Granger(which I loved). Not sure the beans were super fresh here, but very good. I do want to add a further comment that might seem very random to some readers: I’m male, and I have to overcome some resistance to go to a place called«Indulgence.» It just screams«female hangout» to me. I love women and admire the hell out of my three sisters. But it’s not what men do to regard getting a muffin as «indulgence.» Just saying: a naming-fail here, in my opinion. Nothing against the actual place, though.

I really, really, really like their cakes cupcakes other cakes cake cake. It’s all very good. The style is not too sweet, very technical, and perhaps a little clean — I’ve talked to people who say«it doesn’t taste like any love went into it,» and I kind of get it. But it’s still much better than almost all of the other options around here(only Whole Foods has it beat so far). I got some food, too. The flavor combinations are all very good, but not perfect. The mushroom brie soup was a little salty, and the tuna melt was really sour. Still, overall a good place. And the staff are friendly and professional.

Went here when visiting my father-in-law and it’s a pretty good café. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and the prices are in line with what I would pay for such meals. And if you do visit here, try the pastries, they are excellent.

Indulgence is a fantastic place to pick up pastries and baked goods. With a variety of freshly baked goodies in the glass case every day, there’s something for every sweet tooth. Danishes, cupcakes, cheesecake, cookies… It’s all delicious! But Indulgence also offers sandwiches, soup and salad. This is a great alternative to chain restaurants and cafes. The caprese panini is heavenly with a good portion of fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil on freshly made bread. Try the eggplant pita for something unique. Sandwiches come with your choice of chips, fresh fruit or cookie. And for the coffee snobs, Indulgence serves Intelligentsia coffee and espresso. You’ll never go back to Starbucks again after trying these coffees.
