Sooooo this place is a 1970’s greasy spoon. That can be a plus in many cases, but not here. Pros: food was fast and tasted pretty good. Cons: if you don’t mind getting your burger from a place that leaves a lot to be desired in the sanitary department you’ll be in good shape. The place is filthy(and I don’t mean they just haven’t gotten to a table or two, the floor, the bathroom etc) grease all over the blinds along with ketchup from years ago, flies galore, nasty ketchup bottles that were sticky and has faded labels, salt and pepper that the only way you could tell which was which was by the darker shade of gray. I swear it looks like we were in a 70’s diner(even the clientele). The only thing missing was an ashtray on the table. The selection is way to wide for them to be great at anything. Fried rice, steak, hot turkey sandwich, burgers, bacon avocado and cream cheese sandwich, French fries, tater tots, onion rings and fried mushrooms. You getting the picture? The cost for my BLT(which was fresh and tasty) with fries and drink was $ 7 so you can decide what your up for. If your up on your tetanus vaccine, go for it.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Around 10 in the morning. Place wasn’t busy. Ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. Food was decent. Not over the top but good. Price was reasonable. Staff was friendly enough. Service was good. The place appears to be an old Dairy Queen. Homey type place. Nothing fancy. Will return to try lunch or dinner.

A bit dumpy and run down but the burger was above average while the onion rings were ok.

Love this place for Quick Real Food! Lil Ladies are delightful and their food is done right. Would probably give 4.5 stars. Not the most visually appealing joint. But Had to make up for Lauren S’s BS1star review. FDB!

I was working for a customer down the street when he mentioned the Prairie Dog and the specials. I told him I hadn’t been down to «tha Dog» in years. Well long story short, I was hungry and the sandwich was great for the money. The place is not much to look at, but I’m definitely going to try the breakfast next time I’m in the area. Home style places are what I look for all the time… this is one of my new ones now.

The Cheeseburger was pretty damn good. I was surprised. This place didnt look like it would have a good Burger but it does. A cheap place also. The Burger was big and juicy and I had a side of mushrooms that werent too bad for frozen ones that were deep fried.

Look. I’ve only had their breakfast and it’s on par(if not better) than many local diners. What I love is the service and the down-home feel. My dad eats here every week with his friends and I always love dropping in on ‘em. So much history and worth the extra effort to get out of bed to enjoy.

I noticed a lack of reviews for this out of the way, small eatery. As a Grand Prairie local I enjoy visiting some of the smaller local establishments, which is why I ventured on in to the Prairie Dog Drive-In. Upon entering, the place was deserted(which should have tipped me off) and seemingly run down. The owner of the establishment took my order and barked«next order» at me after each thing I ordered(I had 5 others with me) and was quite rude throughout my visit. The burger was awful and I could feel my stomach turn after the first bite. The patty was paper thin and mostly flavorless. I am not sure what the awful taste was coming from, the barely existent«burger» or the slightly stale bread. My kids barely touched their food, though they ordered their favorites hot dogs and chicken strips. The chicken in the chicken strip appeared slightly grey. What may have been the worst part was the drinks. They offered fountain drinks of RC Cola and some other brands. The drinks were like badly flavored water… no carbonation at all and tasted mostly of water with a hint of cola. GROSS. I noticed as we left the only other people there, a few elderly men, all had canned soft drinks; a warning would have been nice). Poor service, awful food. You couldn’t pay me to eat here again!
