My family and I have been regular customers at Butch’s since I was a child. It is an absolute staple of summer and a must stop on any Grand Haven trip. The taste is unique and delicious. Great food, fun atmosphere! We love this place!!!

We have had a cottage in Grand Haven for years and have heard great things about Butch’s but never had gone there, so we finally decided to give it a try. I got the chicken burrito and chips/​salsa. It was pretty good. The prices were good, portions big and employees were very friendly. The one thing I didn’t like, and it was probably my fault for not noticing, was that the burrito had lettuce on it. I didn’t think most burritos had lettuce. But, I should have ordered it without. We’ll give it another try but without the lettuce. Their salsa was really good! And they have a great location. It’s nice to sit outside and watch the boats go by.

We had no intention of eating in Grand Haven. We packed a cooler and a bag of food for a day at the beach but this place drew us in! A short wait in line and we were noshing on a Chicken Supreme and Beef Supreme burrito. I definitely enjoyed the Beef more but the Chicken was tasty. I normally don’t like spicy but the 1 alarm salsa was extremely mild. I tried the 2 alarm salsa and it was definitely more my level. The line moved fast and the food came out quick. We took our burritos across the street to sit on a bench and watch the boats go in and out. Definitely worth a trip in!

This place is not good, even for a little shack on the beach.
I stopped in and for a veggie burrito plus a side order of chips and guac.
For a place that only has tacos, burritos and hot dogs on the menu, they Butch-​ered mine; the burrito was split open on one end and falling apart on the other. Nothing to the food, a lot of beans, rice, and some pickled peppers. The $ 3 guac container wasn’t even half full but it was fully devoid of flavor.
Maybe they do other items better, but I wouldn’t go back.

Cool place, near the beach. Friendly service. Food was pretty generic tasting. My boys had hot dogs which were fine (they’re hot dogs after all). I had a burrito supreme. The meat was very bland and overall the thing lacked flavor. Prices were reasonable.

Some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had, not even close to authentic. We were starving and it still tasted horrible. Burritos are $ 5 each, and for the size, a complete joke. I’m convinced this place only survives due to its location.

This is American/​Mexican food. But it is Good, Fresh AM/​MEX food. It is very unique… I’ve never had anything like it anywhere else. Just don’t expect south of the boarder mexican food.
Butches delivers the same food each summer and summer only. Consistent AM/​MEX style with americanized hot sauce also… i. e picante style.
Stand in line, order, pay and get your food before you walk out the door to the OUTSIDE ONLY seating. It’s not fancy. It’s beach food. It’s good beach food.
It’s fast, the drinks are a ripoff, the burittos a bit small but relatively inexpensive, the view toward the beach is great and if your at the beach it’s better than the food at the beach snack shack.
Take the short hike from the beach across the road to Butches.
We go once a summer with the kids who love it. And so do I.

A chicken burrito supreme would be one of my last meals. Butchs isn’t supposed to be «authentic» mexican food. It’s just a good beach burrito place that is a grand haven staple. To those who want authentic don’t go to a place with a name like Butchs…

Fresh, fast, made to order Tex-​Mex food. I was pleased with my beef burrito — they did not skimp on ingredients and the food is reasonably priced. If you come here expecting «authentic Mexican food» you may be disappointed, but if you don’t mind more Americanized Mexican food made fast after a long day at the beach — it’s just the ticket.

Gotta say — don’t really get the high rating this place has so far (currently a 4).
I had a beef burrito supreme — it was fine. Not good, not bad… ok.
Husband had beef burrito and he did not like it. (He pondered how the beef got to the particular color that it was.)
Since they sell their bottle salsa, I’m assuming that’s well liked around the area — and it did seem good.
Service was good. Location was good. The fact that they have a parkiing lot with available parking in it is a double bonus — makes it easy to go there.
Would I return? No, don’t think so.
Would I recommend? Probably not.
