Golden China Restaurant

I am 32 years old and have been coming to this restaurant pretty much all of my life. The restaurant was gracious enough to allow us to reserve their back room to host a family gathering to celebrate a special occasion. Everything was setup for us already when we got there. The food was yummy and the service was excellent as always.

Was looking for Chinese restaurants around triangle area. This one is OK, the beef we ordered is good, fish and mutton are just OK, rice is not that good. On the other hand, their price are obviously higher than Chinese restaurants in Durham.

Golden China is by far the best Chinese restaurant in town!!! John is the best! I all ways get won ton soup and it is always great! The sweet tea is also great and is a big selling point for me!!(you know cause we’re in the south) it is also very convenient to get take out since its on my way home from work! 5 stars for golden China!

After reading reviews I figured most were posted by folk who did not venture too far from home and did not know good chinese. I took a chance on this place and WOW… this little strip mall joint is serving up the real deal. Orange pineapple chicken!!!

Pretty Solid Chinese. Reasonableness prices, and good quality. Will be my go to for this Area unless I hear of something that’s suppose to be better. I’ve eaten at 3 other places in the area. This is the best so far, also has a nice dine-​in area.

when the Owner said to me «I Don’t Care «that was enough. Our new home is in Graham and we eat out all the time and Chinese food is one of our favorites. PF Chang, Red Bowl and many others and I ordered Orange Chicken !! very common dish. I was expecting it to be prepared like sesame chicken (fried nuggets battered with orange sauce) but it was served as a Plain Breast of Chicken and a side bowl of orange sauce to pour on top of breast of chicken ??? um… well Ok I thought… I took 2 bites and it was tough and dry (just a bad piece of chicken) so told waitress I did not like it and I asked for sesame chicken. It was served the why I expected !! when I went to pay… I told the Owner what I had experienced… she said … You ate Half !!! I said 2 bites and it was terrible piece of chicken… She said … You Pay… I said but it was bad… She said … I Don’t Care !!! I said its a 6.95 meal that cost you $ 2 and I explained I would not be coming back !! She Said… Again… I Don’t Care !!!
So if the Owner does not care… this is a place I will not support… by the way… they own a few newer Lexus in the parking lot… so I guess … I don’t care Pays Well

We have eaten at this restaraunt a few times and the food has always been good. Today we stopped in for lunch and ordered a lunch special orange chicken. It was served and it was a dry, overcooked fried piece of chicken. Neither myself or my husband liked it so we asked if we could order something else. We ordered sesame chicken which we enjoyed. When we were given our bill it had both lunches on it. My husband asked to speak with the owner and we were told we ate half of the other lunch which we didn’t. We both tasted one bite each. We tried to explain that we felt like this was a bad business decision over a six dollar lunch and ultimately we just paid for both lunches. The owner responded «I don’t care»! We live in a small community and one would hope they would have done the right thing. I can say we will not support this business in the future even though the food is good.

Still love the food here but I was a bit disappointed when the lady who rang me up (I’m guessing the owner since she acts like it) charged me for a little tiny cup of chili sauce. Most places give this to me for FREE and I felt like I got taken advantaged off. I can’t eat my food without this so I may have to bring my own hot sauce when I eat this at work. Not sure if I’ll come back which is also disappointing because I love the service I got last time but the owner is ridiculous with her greedy self.

Remembering that this is, after all, NC — I give high marks. The menu is so much fun to read– they have it all! Egg roll may not have the best filling, but the wrapper is crisp and grease-​free, and for us– it’s all about the wrap! The Shrimp and vegetable dish that I ordered, consisted of perfectly cooked large shrimps and al dente veggies. Everything was good — and they have the best HOT mustard– knock your socks off! Oh, and ICE COLD BEER — frosted glasses– superb. AND the prices? ‘OMG– so inexpensive!
John is the best waiter– ask for him. Please tip him in cash or the owner will steal his money.

Eat here a couple times a month. Excellent egg rolls & I truly enjoy their hot & spicy chicken.

If you are looking for a decent sit down Chinese restaurant in alamance county/​Graham this is the place. Their food quality is great and their service is excellent. My only con would be the men’s bathroom needs a little makeover.

Golden China is a decent Chinese restaurant with some quality food, but a few weaknesses that keep it from getting my full 5-​star rating.
First, the food. With the exceptions of the lemon and orange chicken (which seem designed more for kids than adults and are, frankly, a little unpleasant), most of the food is top-​notch and flavorful, with generous portions that can easily last you 2 meals. I’m especially fond of the scallion chicken and mu shu beef, but there’s plenty of good food to go around. There’s not a lot of healthy options on the menu, but this is Chinese food, not health food — although I would like to see a few lower-​sodium selections.
The table service in the restaurant is inconsistent, and probably the biggest fault I’d give the place. They’re nice enough, but I often find myself waiting and waiting for a drink refill (one of my pet peeves). The girl at the front is quiet and mostly noncommunicative, but friendly. Again — no glaring problems, just a need for a little better service.
Other (minor) downsides: The atmosphere is a bit dated and dark. The prices have gone up recently, but they’ve been so low for so long that I’m surprised they didn’t go up sooner.
All in all, Golden China is a decent Chinese restaurant that most people will enjoy.

The best Chinese restaurant we have eaten at either nationally or internationally.
Traveling extensively, we always look for a good Chinese place to eat and we have tried numerous locations, but this remains our hands down favorite.
Great steamed dumplings and spicy honey chicken. All the food is very good.
If you go… ask for John as your waiter. Great service, attentive, and friendly.

We love Golden China, we eat there at least once a week! I took my best friend from Raleigh and she said it renewed her hope that there are still good down home Chinese restaurants out there, she loved it! And the service is awesome! It doesn’t take long and they know you by name and exactly what you like to eat!

Maybe I showed up on a bad day, but I will never eat at Golden China again, and I’ll recommend against it to anyone that asks.
I needed to order take-​out for lunch and was thrilled to find Golden China had a menu online, with lunch specials even! So I called up and ordered the Orange Chicken. The lady who took my order was very short, speaking only about 8 words the entire call and sounding very annoyed at my presence. Oh well, I thought, and brushed it off. I was so excited for (what was supposedly) good Chinese food I could excuse that. And the price? $ 5.60 for the lunch special with rice and egg roll — another reason I chose to order from here.
When I got to the restaurant, I waited in line for a few other take-​out orders, no biggie. Got to the register, told her what I’d ordered…$ 7.26, she says. May not seem like a big deal, but even with tax that’s a good $ 15% higher than the price on the website. Again, I thought, no biggie. I was still excited about the orange chicken.
I drove home quickly and opened the box… to a major disappointment. I saw a fried chicken breast cut into 4 pieces, a decent amount of rice, and a styrofoam container of a syrupy-​sweet sauce that had a hint of orange flavor — nothing at all like what I’ve come to expect from Chinese-​style orange chicken.
I was really hungry, and had no time to go back out, so I tried to eat it — I really did. It was absolutely disgusting. The chicken was way overcooked; dry and chewy. The breading came off as soon as you tried to cut a piece of chicken. The sauce was way too sweet and had little flavor otherwise. The only thing halfway decent about this meal was the rice, which was fine. Then again, it’s pretty tough to screw up plain steamed rice.
All in all, this was probably the worst food I’ve ever been served at any restaurant of any kind. Is it possible I just chose a bad day? Maybe the staff was having an off day? Sure. But there’s no chance I’ll be going back to find out.

As far as Chinese Cuisine goes for Alamance County… Golden China is the ONLY Chinese Restaurant that is worth going to. I’ve tried the many others in the area but they don’t even come close to the quality of food served at Golden China.
The Hot and Sour soup is awesome! The service is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable.
On this date they had a 100.00 sanitation grade! Great place!

When I want Chinese food in Alamance County, I choose Golden China! You get a heaping mound of food that is always good. There may be other places just as good, but I won’t know about them because I am so happy here.
If you are lucky, you’ll get John as a waiter. He will remember you when you come back and what you had to eat. If you are eating with a different person, he will ask about the first person you were eating with in front of the second. So be careful!
I am a big Kung Pao person, and Golden China always delivers. Same goes for the Spicy Honey and the Hunan.

Golden China is a favorite place where my grandmother and I often have lunch. I’ve had dinner there a few times, too. Every meal there has been fantastic — well prepared, fresh ingredients and SUPERB service.
As I tell people in Greensboro (where I am), you have to go to Graham for good Chinese food. If you want entrées and specials, Golden China is THE place to go.
Be sure to ask to be seated at the tables (not booths) along the side wall in the back left corner.
