One of the best places for Chinese food around! I’ve known the people and the place since the beginning. One of the things that makes this restaurant a stand out is the fact that almost everything in there is hand made. Sauces, soups, egg rolls, wontons, dumplings, you name it. I’ve also worked here in and out for a few years and can attest to this. Through the years, if there’s any critiques I had for the place, it would be this; Time. Whether you’re eating in, or taking out, give or take five minutes for your order. This is usually a steady, but busy establishment. Times can change greatly! But you’l be sure to experience a kind staff, great food, and a nice atmosphere! Drop by sometime!

Hong Kong is our family’s go to local Chinese carry out restaurant. Little wait if we call ahead. I like that food is made fresh and they will adjust spice in dish to suit tastes. There is something for everyone. Crab ragoon is popular at our house. I love the home style bean curd and steamed options. Not everything is fried like so many Chinese American restaurants. Steamed spinach dumpings — yum! The picky child likes the shrimp and steamed rice. Husband the ribs and heartier dishes. Thumbs up!

Best Chinese takeout in Burlington. Always fast service and fresh food. There’s limited seating but we always get it to go. They also have a menu of extra-healthy options. The John’s special is very good.

Oh how I miss you yummy Hong Kong Chinese! No others compare! Now that I live in Florida and soon to be Texas, I can say that I have had Chinese in other areas such as West Palm Beach and I long for your fresh and ample veggies, fresh ingredients, and overall superiority!

This has become my new favorite Chinese take out restaurant in Burlington. The food has always been great, and consistent with each visit. There are only two reasons why I am not giving Hong Kong 5 stars, one of them is my own personal reason. 1: The Boneless spare ribs need to be cooked just a bit longer. Each time I’ve ordered these there are some really chewy fatty parts. 2: The pu pu platter is on the menu, but I have yet to be able to get it made. Other than those two issues, this place is rock solid.

Let me start by level setting expectations. Hong Kong is a Chinese restaurant in a stripmall. I am not holding them to the same standard I would a restaurant with waitor service in Chinatown in San Francisco. By stripmall Chinese restaurant standards this place is amazing. They have proper restaurant quality food at stripmall prices. Atmosphere 3 — It is well appointed but a bit tight. That is usally not too much of a problem because they do more take out business than eat in. Service 3 — I have been to Hong Kong a number of times and I have no complaints about the service. It is counter service but the people at the counter have always been polite and freindly. Cost/Value 5 — For the quality of the food the prices a very reasonable. I have never been disappointed with thier food. Food 4 — The food was tasty and well prepared. All too often what you get in this type of restaurant is lackluster thrown together junk. Most recently I ordered Kung Pao beef and it actually had dried hot pepers in it like at a real restaurant. Compared to all of my other options for quick and easy Chinese this place is the best in Burlington.

This place is amazing! My fiancé and I get food from here all the time. Their sesame chicken is incredible, not overly breaded, just enough meat and a delicious sauce. My fiancé is in love with their general tso’s chicken as well(which is something I never get because I’m not a big fan of spicy food, but he is!). I’ve also had their sweet and sour pork(fantastic), their crab rangoon(amazing) and their lo mein(incredible). Their spring rolls are always right out of the fryer and taste outstanding. I would recommend this place to everybody.

My companion and I went by for a quick dinner on the way to an event at DPAC based upon Unilocal reviews. While decorated nicely, the restaurant is a little tight for handicapped access but we made it through. We placed an order for a the Spicy Beef dinner combo, an extra egg roll and a pint of Hot and Sour Soup. Everything came out nice and hot, the spice in the food was just about right for our taste, could have been a little spicier but since other reviews noted that Hong Kong tends to spice it up a little we decided to err on the side of caution. Soup was very good and the accompanying noodles were perfect. The only thing that marred our visit was the oil that the egg rolls were fried was old and really needed changing. It wasn’t bad enough to send back but worth mentioning. Overall, I’d eat here again if I was in Burlington or going through and had a Chinese food craving.

Their wonton soup was hands down the best I’ve ever had-and I always get it when I eat Chinese! I would LOVE to give them more stars but my friend got the chicken and broccoli from them and was saying how it was abnormally spicy. Whenever he gets it elsewhere it’s never spicy so he didn’t like that at all. All in all definitely try their wonton soup! If I lived closer I would get it at least once a week it’s super cheap.

Our second visit here. Service was good both times. The food was not that great either time. Probably won’t go back for a third try.

WOW! This tiny place serves up some of the hottest Chinese dishes we’ve ever encountered. The only place that comes close is 35 Restaurant, located then in Cary. They are in a rather large shopping center at the corner of Church St. and Huffman Mill Rd. They have a small amount of seating, but seems to be mainly a take out restaurant. We ordered two lunch specials — Mongolian Beef(an old favorite) and Hot & Spicy Chicken(a new dish, to us at least). The Beef was $ 6.25, the Chicken came in at $ 5.95 — both with Pork Fried Rice. The Mongolian Beef was far from the classic version, which is composed of sliced beef(often flank steak), sliced green onions, and a sauce with some heat. The dish here had a variety of vegetables, including very coarsely chopped green pepper, onions, baby corn(awful stuff), and a little carrot, along with the thinly sliced beef. Too many Chinese restaurants use the over-abundance of vegetables in far too many dishes — filler I guess. The sauce was thicker than that I’ve normally seen, or than that I prepare myself, and there was a great deal of it, and it was extremely hot. The beef was served along with the pork fried rice in a plastic bowl, allowing the sauce to pool at the bottom, and soaking a good portion of the rice — not a plating technique I care for. I’m not phobic about having items on my plate touch, but I don’t particularly want everything to combine almost like a stew either. The chicken dish was basically the same — thin slices of chicken(prehaps pounded flat), in the same sauce, in the same amount, along with same vegetables, all served together with the rice in a plastic bowl. The overall effect and taste was the same, as well. We like hot dishes, but these two were a little over the top The Pork Fried Rice was awesome, as good as any we’ve tried. The grains were perfectly separated, the texture and flavor were excellent, and there was plenty of pork. We’ll probably try some other things here — wings, egg roll, egg foo young, lo mein, etc. This is not the place to get authentic dishes, but there is some potential for good Amercanized dishes, which have their own appeal, at least to us, from time to time.

I visited Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant for lunch one afternoon after reading about their fresh ingredient and commitment to quality online in reviews. I went and ordered the lunch order of General Tso’s chicken for take-out. The restaurant was small and clean although it lacked anything special in regard to the décor. The person who took my order was friendly and the menu had pictures and statements from the restaurant owners who clearly take pride in their establishment and desire to produce a quality product. When I got home with my food I found it to be of better quality than I expect from an average Chinese restaurant but it didn’t blow me away. Maybe I had too high of expectations? At any rate, I have not been back to this location as there is a Chinese chain restaurant in Alamance Crossing that I prefer due to the noticably higher quality ingredients in their food. All in all though, if you are in the area this is probably the best non-chain Chinese food in the city.

This its the best chinese restaurant in the city, by far! I just happened to walk in here one day and was instantly hooked. The food quality has me saying things like, «Hong kong makes it better.» «This is nothing like hong kongs…» «You like chinese, let’s go to hong kong.» This quaint little shop has quickly become my standard for chinese cuisine. The restaurant itself is tiny, but not cramped and the décor is charming to say the least. A local artist, who is an avid patron of the store, created portraits of all of the cashiers and they adorn the wall along with some traditional chinese prints. Another aspect of the restaurant I enjoy is the viewable kitchen, it’s neat to watch the chefs skill while they flip food in the woks. Another thing that sticks out to me is the amazing quality of their fried rice. It’s the best rice I’ve ever had and has made all others taste cheap and bland. I am and will always be a regular at this great restaurant!

Soooo good. Food is excellent! I love the plastic containers. It eliminates the need for costly ziploc container purchases. My wife & I have quite a collection going. The only problem is the misery that comes from having stuffed yourself after being unable to put the sticks down and back away from the table.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside(or even from the inside), but their food is excellent — probably the best Chinese food I’ve had in North Carolina! It’s part of a strip mall and seems to be geared towards take-out orders, though they do have some tables. The menu is on a board at the front and you have to order at the counter. Sadly, the food is served on styrofoam or in plastic containers, which is not only incredibly wasteful, but also does not lend much to the ambience of the place. Don’t let that deter you — my family and I have been coming here regularly for over 5 years. The owners of this place are good people and the food is consistently excellent and seriously makes up for the fact that you have to eat off of styrofoam. Also, most of their business is made up of repeat customers, so that must mean that they’re doing something right!
