I love the authentic, fresh food here starting with tasty salsa & chips, flavorful beans, rice, guacamole etc. When I visit from Texas I’m assured of getting my Mexican food fix here a couple of times and while I’m vegan, my family enjoys the meaty enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas and more. I wish they served margaritas.

Service severely lacking — very disordered. Only one person working the floor(lunch time). The«Mexican rice» was like Rice-a-Roni. I had the loco grilled chicken, which was good… the guacamole was good too. But, rather mediocre, at best, overall experience.

The Mrs. had Jury Selection, so after walking out of Matterns, we saw a little sign for El Duranguenze and followed it. We found a neat little Mexican joint kinda tucked off the beaten path. Chips and Salsa were excellent! Kel ordered a Asada Quesadilla that was nearly an inch thick. I would have liked more cheese and less meat, but that’s me. She loved it. I got the El Duranguenze Burrito with their green salsa… pretty good, but there was a LOT of rice in it… not sure how I feel about that yet. Funny side note… the whole time we were there, we heard this slapping noise coming from the kitchen… I asked the server what it was and she said they were making the gorditas… it was cool that they go that extra step for quality. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5th star, besides the rice… It was lunch time and I had to get back to work… the check wasn’t delivered in a timely manner, so I had to go wait at the register for the server to get the hint…

Because of its proximity to Motion Left Mopeds, I’ve made several food runs to El Duranguenze. The food isn’t spectacular, but it’s reasonably priced and fairly quick. The chicken isn’t terribly well-flavored, so I’d stick with carne asade or other meats.
