Great local business with great service! I got sick of wasting time and money at VIP and Sullivan Tire, so I took a chance on Carters a few years ago. They’ve never let me down. They have their busy days, but they manage to get me in, especially if it’s an emergency. The staff if friendly and they tell me if pricey work is necessary or can be put off a little while. I trust them with all three of our vehicles.

Great shop, dont have to worry about getting ripped off! They got what was needed done! Being a mechanic myself its nice to know of a shop that can get the work done when needed.

Went in on a whim for a sticker. They had a tech between cars look at mine for a sticker. No appointment. Not saying it will happen this way for

Great place. I remember when I was a kid my parents would take their cars to the little run-​down shack behind the grocery store. Years later, the place is totally redone, but the people (especially Doug and John!) are still there and still great. I’ve driven an hour and a half out of my way to bring my car to Carter’s, and will continue to do so.

I needed some brake work, a sticker, general checkup on my vehicle. Called to see about making an appointment, and was told to bring it on in right now (which I foolishly assumed meant they weren’t busy). Left my vehicle there at 11: 15am and was told I’d be called once they’d looked. Went across the street to Sebago to wait. 2 hours later, I finally went back over and was given a list of problems, including 2 warning lights that weren’t on when I brought it in. I explained that the lights weren’t on to my knowledge, asked for the keys, went to my vehicle and the lights STILL weren’t on. Then I was told that they needed to do diagnostic work to figure out a leak and that they’d work up the estimate, «between other stuff» and let me know. I waited until 2:30pm, then finally went back and said I needed my vehicle and was charged $ 65 with NO ESTIMATE and NO REPAIRS DONE!!! I will not return. WHO CHARGES FOR AN ESTIMATE WITHOUT EVEN DOING THE DIAGNOSTICS???

No worry auto repair. They fix what is needed and do it for the right price.

Went to Carter’s for about 2 years when I lived in Gorham and never had a problem. They were always reasonable and explained everything they did. On at least one occasion, they took me into the garage where my car was up on the lift and showed me exactly what needed to be done (brakes in that case). They worked on both my Jeep Cherokee and VW Golf without any problem.
I grew up with a mechanic (my dad), and have a fair understanding of how much various types of repairs should cost and what is critical and what is not. I never felt like anyone at Carter’s was trying to rip me off and if I still lived in Gorham, I would still be going to Carter’s.
