Super chill and friendly environment plus they have some AMAZING coffee! Went there for the first time today and was extremely happy with the quick service and actual conversation the owners wanted to have while I waited for my drink. This Starbucks gold card member no longer wants anything to do with their coffee after the drink I had today! Bye, bye Starbucks! Hello bald monkey!

Went there for the first time today, the service was awesome and so are the drinks. We got the sexy 7 with English Toffee and The Yeti with S’mores also got ham and cheese croissants, they were delicious. After moving far away from home, it seems like a comforting place to go and we’ll be regulars until we leave SC. Keep up the great work!

Amazing iced coffee!!! They had great costumer service! There was construction outside, but the place was easy to get to.

I found this place as I was leaving my hotel. It’s a small building with coffee written all over it, you can’t miss it. I pulled into the drive-​thru expecting to see a large menu but instead found a small menu on the wall. The owner opened the window to take our order and was very helpful and informative. I wanted to know what the Sexy 7 was that’s on the menu. He carefully explained it was his special blend of 7 beans that he felt was just right together. So cool… He actually took the time to perfect his craft!
I tried the iced while my husband tried the hot. Delicious!
We were leaving town a few hours later and he had a parking lot of bikers at his coffee shop. Seems like a real cool, down to earth guy!

Such a serendipity kinda place. Where else do you find live entertainment on a Saturday morning! Give yourself time to linger and enjoy their coffee and the music.

Great cup of coffee. Owner is super nice and really loves what he is doing. Anytime I’m in the area I stop by and grab a brewed cup or a cappuccino.

Ordered coffee here with a friend who’s a die hard starbucks fan. She can only have sugar free sweetening because of her surgery and she said that it’s the best coffee she had with the price. Starbucks was so stingy on their coffee sweetener most of the time that her coffee taste bitter sometimes. I have her completely hooked to this business.

I like how chill and relaxed the place is plus the iced coffee is really great not that burnt crap from starbucks. If you want good local coffee come here you won’t be disappointed especially if Stony is the one making it he’s great

I like supporting local businesses when I can, so I gave this place a try. I was not impressed at all. The coffee was so bitter I wasn’t even able to drink it. I have only been the one time, so maybe I just went on an off day, but I don’t think I will go again to find out.

I have been going to this place ever since I moved back to Charleston with the Navy. I’m pretty simple– all I want some good, classic drip coffee or Americano. And Bald Monkey definitely delivers. Their Americano with an extra shot is definitely the best around. Strong, flavorful and smooth (very strong!). I’ve always gone through the drive-​through and the owner is really nice. They give military discounts and also have been doing muffins and cookies on the side.
They just upgraded their to-​go cups to a more sturdy design, which was a huge plus… cause the flimsy dixie ones they were using before were terrible. My only suggestion is that they continue to try to upgrade the place. maybe plant some trees in the small section of grass out front and put some nice patio furniture out front. It still suffers from the run-​down parking lot it’s located in. But overall– with regard to the coffee product — they are doing great!

Great coffee cappuccino or latte, cold or hot. I like that you can come up with any mixture. Wish they had more snacks or something to go with the drinks but I enjoy it anyways. The owner is great to talk to and hang out while enjoying our drinks

Visiting Charleston for the first time & we were looking for a good cup of joe. Got a cold monkey with caramel… very good smooth! Reasonably priced & we loved the logo so purchased a mug too. Owner was super nice! Also got a bag of owners recommended sexy 7, nice! A small shop but those are usually the best ones! Support local business!

Support local business! I was flabbergasted when the big chains decided to increase already overpriced coffee rates! If you are looking for an amazing cup of Joe very reasonably priced this is your spot! Free wifi, great reads, and some chalkboards to help explore your creative side! Batista’s are friendly, personable, and knowledgeable! The coffee is always fresh and you are bound to meet someone cool! This place has a unique hipster vibe I highly recommend you check it out!

Great coffee! It’s exactly what they advertise. Good, smooth, cup of joe. I will definitely agree with other customers that it’s WAY better than Starbucks. Only thing that didn’t exceed my expectation was the customer service. By that I mean interaction. The woman was nice but didn’t interact. As a fairly new establishment I expected more customer interaction. She didn’t sell us on anything. She was just there to say hi and take the order. I was honestly expecting more of a «hi is this your first time? Let me tell you a little about what we offer?» We weren’t asked if it was here or to go it was assumed that (even though we came inside on a very ugly rainy day. and they do have a drive thru) we were taking it to go. I always prefer a real mug but assumed they only had to go because nothing else was offered. At the end of the visit we found out they do have mugs she just assumed we weren’t staying. To sum it up I did not get a pleasant feeling with customer service but will definitely return for some great coffee. Hopefully they will also get some good pastries as a compliment because right now they just have vending machine snacks :)

Visiting from Michigan and wanted to get some coffee before heading into Charleston. We were looking for a local coffee shop and decided to stop at the Bald Monkey. We met the owner and he even made our coffee! We got a frozen Carmel Yeti, regular coffee, and a new flavor on iced. It was very good and the owner was a treat!!!

This place ROCKS! Great coffees and lattes at lower prices than the «BIG» coffee chain… This side of the creek needed this!

I love local coffee shops and will seek them out wherever I go. This joint opened up in the food lion plaza which is kind of a rough area but right outside of the Navy base. It is a very convenient location for people coming/​going to the base. I’ve been saying that area needed a coffee shop for years and am glad there is now one. The owners did a really nice job sprucing up an otherwise vacant building and they were very friendly when I went through the drive thru. The loyalty card he gave me (buy 5 get your 6^th free) states they sell cappuccino, espresso, lattes, and all things coffee. I went with their signature sexy 7 drip because if you cannot do a black cup of coffee right then I’m out! They do it right here! Very nice cup of joe. I will definitely be coming here more frequently.
