Cabela’s

So this place is actually surprisingly fun. I’m not a hunting fishing type girl by any means but I do enjoy an outdoor adventure: (hiking, boating, attempting and failing at water sports etc.)so I wasn’t excited about going here but I was wrong. This place is actually pretty awesome. The aquarium, taxidermy museum, giant fake mountain, and such amused me and the little one. The store is huge and clean. We didn’t even make it upstairs because we spent so much time downstairs. I left with new discoveries. I should buy a kayak. I should take up now fishing. Beware: you could spend a long time and a lot of money here.

I tried y’all, I really did. I wanted to hate this (guy) place but it’s impossible. This place has something for everyone and that was apparent to me as soon as I was walking in. Hello pastel colored canoes… way to appeal to the females Cabela’s.
Yes, there are knives and guns galore here and of course I was made to endure these by my guy BUT there’s also:
–cute baby clothes
–cuter women’s clothes
–aquariums!
–awesome home décor
–stuffed animals beaucoup
We spent hours wandering around here taking in the two stories of awesomeness. There’s a place to grab lunch on the second floor and a pretty great fudge shop up there as well. (I recommend the snickers fudge) Oh and in the fudge shop don’t miss out on the large selection of Burt’s Bees products.
If your guy makes you come here you might just like it as much as he does.

Ok the reason for the one star. Visited the store last night. Employees in the departments were very nice and acknowledged me. We spent over 700.00 on hunting gear. The cashier was so rude. Worse than Walmart cashiers in Marrero. You would think that she would be a little nicer since we are spending a lot of money in that store… No thank you have a nice evening horrible frown… No customer service at all… There’s other places that will love to have our money with better service… Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.

This place is huge! And it has everything. An aquarium even. Also hunting gear, fishing gear, clothing, food, home décor, candy, camping gear. Everything! The people are friendly and helpful. It’s a neat store!

Thanks to Ron, Paul, and Kyle in the gun department for answering all of my questions. Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service. The sold me the item I was looking for and answered all the questions I had to my satisfaction. Great guys, great store. I’ll be back!

I like that they have concessions for the bored girlfriend to partake in while the boyfriend ponders for 30 minutes on what deer stand and feeder to buy. I also found a box of 500 round 22 ammo and that did make me very happy. I haven’t been able to find a large box of 22’s in a really long time. So that made the trip worth it to me!

Boat Service at Gonzales, LA store
Took our boat here for Mercury Authorized Service do to a power issue.
Dealing with Bubba and the others in the shop was a pleasure and the turn time was great too.
They might be a tad higher on the hourly shop rates, but they got me in and out in 2 days vs 3+ weeks every where else.
Was worth a few extra dollars to be able to use my boat over the next 3 weekends with my boys… And not have to miss a fishing tournament. The boys are excited!!!

Of course my husband loves Cabelas for the hunting accessories, my children love cabelas for the animal and fish exhibits, myself I love my family so I enter the store knowing it will be hours before I exit again.
This cabelas from the road doesn’t seem very special, which is sad because inside is very nice and entertaining apparently. We some how just spent 5hrs there and spent less then $ 500!!!
My husband found associates that knew there info and talked the fist hour away, while the kids and I visited the main mountain animal exhibit in the center of the store, then visited the fish aquarium which is about 25,000 gallons all together (very nice!)
The kids and I decided to wander upstairs and have lunch at the café, on our way we ran into my husband… still talking about hunting stuff… Informed him we were heading for food. We ordered a nice meal of burgers, hotdogs and sandwiches which all come with fries and a drink. It took about 15 minutes for our food to be prepared, $ 43 for a family of 5. That included a $ 12 Buffalo meat burger for the hubs (who was still downstairs talking.)
Once we were finished we were all back together and the husband took the kids for a bit so I could wander. I’m not a talker so I went straight to business… The fudge shop upstairs! Yum
We met back up in the Back Country museum in the back corner and read up on monster A-​Typical deer.
Two recommendations for Cabelas…
1) by the hour daycare center!!! I would totally pay you $ 10 a kid for an hour of no questions asked shopping!!!
2) a spouse napping station or massage chair station!!!
I mean I just spent 5 hrs on my feet in your store, I need rewarded!!!

Trip home from NOLA–
Huge, clean store. Employee’s were plentiful and greeted us and everyone with a smile. They were pretty helpful as well.
The selection is huge. We purchased a gift and some smaller items. As I said, the store was clean. People milling around and I did not see one piece of merchandise on the floor or out of place. Not many places can say that.
I’ll be back.

I LOVE Cabela’s! Anything you might need for nearly any outdoor activity is available. From fishing to rock climbing and everything in between, the quality and variety of products is top notch. My only beef is that the top quality makes everything expennnnnsive. That’s ok, because I know I’m getting excellent stuff, but it breaks the bank everytime!
I still love this heavenly place though.

The firearm division is the worst. I had an AR transferred back in 2011. They held on to it for two weeks. Told me their «gun manager» was on vacation and their other employee was out sick. I asked if the store manager could hand over the firearm and they said no… Guess they didn’t sell a firearm for two weeks…
Last month I contacted them to see if they had a pistol in stock or if they could acquire it. They emailed me back saying they would look into it and get back with me. still haven’t received word three weeks after the initial request and I ‘be sent requests each week.

Cabelas is a guys «toys r us»!
Everything you could need for any outdoor sport.
Great aquarium for the kids to check out.
5.11, underarmor gear, and of course the cabelas brand.
Employees were helpful and friendly.
Bathrooms were also clean, a true barometer of a well run business.

Cabela’s hospitality has been wonderful when I hold my workshops, trainings, and my support groups at their meeting rooms.
The kids bday party are fun and organized too! Did I mention the tour and taste of fudge? The cake is included!
I’m not a hunter, but I like the atmosphere when it comes to hunting a good deal! Investing money here is not a problem!
If your looking for a place that is kid and animal friendly, you’ve come to the right place! They have a museum of taxidermy animals, huge aquarium, shooting gallery, deli and candy counter!
Wonderful and friendly hospitality at the door too!

This Cabela’s off of I-​10 in Gonzales, LA is a wonderland of goodies for all sorts of outdoorsy people and non outdoorsy alike! I always stop in because I stay at the hotel nearby while on my way to San Antonio, TX and come back with a smiling face.
Take advantage of the knowledgeable staff and Cabela’s goodies… they have fudge!

What can you really say negatively about Cabelas? They have everything under the sun for the outdoors man.
From fishing to hunting and on and on and on. Personally, I gravitate to the firearms section. Its like a shooters dream. A huge selection of new guns and a used selection that rivals used gun shops. Also the «Gun Library» was something worth spending a few hours in, they had guns still new in box that were made before I was a thought in my fathers head.
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful no matter the department. Also they have things like an aquarium and animal display that will keep the kids busy as you check your online banking to see how much you can spend.
All in all an excellent store and worth a stop for anyone that has ever been outside.

If you never been to a Cabela’s or a Bass Pro Shop, you need to check this place out. Both kinda the same, gigantic, well decorated, filled to the top sporting good super mega store. Lots of cool things to check out. Even if you aren’t a hunter or fisherman or outdoors type, you can still appreciate the store.

Any place that has free kennels for your dog while u shop is good in my book… I could care less what they are selling. Its hard to find anything dog friendly in Louisiana. They also don’t mind if u go in the store with ur pet as long as its on a leash. I put my dogs in a buggie and wheel them around. They love it.
While the dogs and I were on our joy ride my husband sold a gun he’d been wanting to get rid of. He got a fair amount of cash and it was hassle free!

I’ve been to many Cabela’s around the country and this one is typical of most of them. Often local Cabela’s stores will have a special display tailored for the area they are in and this location has a giant aquarium with many of our local freshwater fish species available for viewing. They also have multiple stuffed animals from all over the world so you can get a sense of proportion of different game animals.
They have a huge inventory here and you can also order things online and pick them up here. They have a nice selection of firearms but the prices on the new stock is higher than you will usually find elsewhere. One of the best things about this store is they keep a great stock of ammo compared to the usually paltry and sold out offerings elsewhere these days. They have a small café here with items like elk, ostrich and bison sandwiches but really they are pretty unimpressive. They have a clearance room where you can find some good deals.
This is certainly a great place to tour but the prices can often be higher for their regularly priced merchandise. They do offer top quality equipment here and the only baseball cap I wear on a regular basis is a Cabela’s one. If you need expedition, hunting, fishing or outdoor outfitting then Cabela’s can take care of just about any need.

Cabela’s is a sportsman’s paradise. This store has everything you could possible want when it comes to the outdoors.
I have been here several times, but I am always drawn to the gun section. Most of their new guns are overpriced compared to other retailers, but their section is great. Want to check out a new pistol, rifle or shotgun, come here. I really like the historical guns for sale in the room on side of the main area. There were old single action colt revolvers, German Lugers and Belgian Brownings, all of which were for sale.
In addition to the gun section, the amount of ammunition in stock is incredible. Need ammo for a hard to find caliber? If they don’t have it here, I would be very surprised.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. They also don’t seem to mind if you just browse rather than buy. In fact, the store is a huge attraction. I think most people are just there to look.
