This place is awesome but a little hard to find. I had an everything bagel toasted with ham, lettuce, tomato and onion and it was wonderful ! All my co-​workers also got this. We order this most of the time but everything they have is so good !! Clean great service.

Awesome bagels. I got an egg and cheese on an everything and my husband got a sausage egg and cheese on an onion. Both were superb! The sausage on his sandwich was juicy, flavorful, and had a great spice. You can taste the authentic New York, homemade goodness in these bagels– so good. Simple, no frills, just great breakfast. The also serve lunch sandwiches and pizza! I can’t wait to try both next time.

I use them yearly for my mothers birthday to bring a taste of New York Italian cooking here in NC.

The bagels are perfect. I’ve also come here many times for lunch and their sandwiches are super delicious. I highly recommend getting it on the hero roll and getting extra foil to take the second half to go. The owners are actually from Brooklyn and you can tell by their quick, to the point service and no frills setup. This place is legit and I hope this place continues to be a staple of Goldsboro for a really long time.

As close to a New York bagel place as you can get south of Jersey. Breakfast is great but I recommend getting the chicken salad on any everything bagel at lunch! The owner, Steve, is behind the counter every day serving up a healthy dose of southern hospitality with a NY accent.

Five Star is a jewel of a find in Eastern North Carolina. They have delicious bagels, wonderful sandwiches, and a New York feel in the middle of south. If you are in the area, it is worth a stop.

I’d been craving bagels for a while and was told that Five Star had the best bagels in Goldsboro. Stopped by here on the way to work one day and ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. Pretty decent bagel, nice and soft on the inside with a little crunch on the outside. My bagel had salt crystals in addition to the garlic/​onion/​poppy standard, which I thought gave it a little extra taste.
Staff was nice and friendly (even if I only had a $ 50 on me for a $ 2.10 bagel).
The building isn’t much to look at from the outside, actually looks like it’s out of business. Enter through the back.
Would definitely come back here for my bagel fix!

Back when I lived in Goldsboro, I came to Five Star at least once a week.
The place is open for Breakfast to Late Lunch and fulfills both roles spectacularly. Awesome bagels (there’s about 20 different varieties), lox, breakfast sandwiches, prime deli meat, cheese, pasta dishes… you name it. The two brothers running the place are (I’m assuming by the accents) from New York, and their food represents like no other.
Best Breakfast/​Worst Breath combination? Lox on a garlic bagel with onion, tomato, cream cheese.
Best Lunch/​Food Coma? Italian Stallion Hero dressed all the way.
Dessert? Black and White cookie.

Not much to look at, quite ugly really — rather unaesthetically pleasing, but 5 Star helps me keep my bagel and lox fix-​craving-​sanity. It’s really the only place in town to get decent bagels and pastry fare.
I am a fan and so are my coworkers — they take a collection and get breakfast (after the work day has started mind you hmm) at least once a week.
