Best burritos in the state. I try to come here every time I’m in Goldsboro. It’s a build your own cafeteria style place. You don’t build it yourself just tell them which ingredients to use.

Tastes great, selection of ingredients is standard. But once I got a slight case of food poisoning so be careful about who is handing and make sure they wash their hands and have gloves.

Salad fan here, If you’ve had other fast casual Mexican salads, they do things differently here. The bowls are the same size as others«small salad», no tortilla on the bottom, and guacamole is extra. What amounts to a small salad with guac and sour cream runs a little under $ 9.50. Other than the way over priced salad, the food is great. They specialize in burritos, and they taste wonderful.

A good, local alternative to Chipotle or Moe’s if you don’t feel like driving to the Raleigh area. I’ll admit I come here about once a month for my burrito fix. I have not seen the lack in quality of ingredients or service(as referenced by other recent reviews) and I hope it stays that way. I’m not saying this place is better than the aforementioned chain restaurants but is sufficient if you live down this way.

I want to give this place a higher rating but the service is just rude most of the times I’ve been there. The food itself is alright nothing amazing but still the best we have in Goldsboro at the moment. You definitely get alot of food and have a similar to Chipotle experience but it’s still far from the real deal. The Sam’s Club chips they serve with the canned cheese is probably what annoys me the most. Also, they charge for water man that’s cheap. Overall, I’d go back if some friends wanted to go but other than that it’s nothing I crave on a weekly basis. Give it a shot but don’t expect anything amazing. TIP: Must sure you check their website before going they almost always have a coupon online that’ll get you free chips and salsa or a drink.

It’s the only burrito place in town :(their rice is never cooked right. On more than one occasion I have ordered there & the rice is always crunchy and raw.

After seeing a drop in quality over years, then having a terrible experience last year, I figured it was time to give them another shot — this time it was the Bonfire’s of old that we liked and frequented. The preparation and quality of the ingredients has taken a turn for the better for sure(read my last review for details). They also had a couple of options I had never seen before(shredded pork and soup), which is a nice change. The service was not great, but decent and the portions are huge… two things which have never changed. In short, our last trip was an overall decent experience so we may be back soon.

Food is good. Friendly nice people. The build your burrito is delicious. They defiantly give you a nice amount of food at a fair price. The only place to get a decent burrito in goldsboro unless you think Taco Bell is good food.

Fast, good, healthy food. It’s similar to a Moe’s but locally owned. Food seems fresh with lots of options to put in the burrito. There are different sizes(3) and different tortillas(tomato, spinach, flower…). Friendly staff/owners. Clean place. The music is a bit loud and there is just not enough room to handle the number of customers. There is additional seating outside. Overall, it’s a good place to get a burrito.

The food is really good. They have from small to super huge burritos. You can add any kind of meat, veggies, sauces, etc. very good and flavorful. The staff is very friendly and fast. If you need a quick lunch or dinner break head to this place.

Epic burritos… the size of my arm if you get the largest size and just as thick. This place may not have the freshness in quality as say Chipotle or Quadoba but it makes up for that in pure quanitity. They also have a variety of burrito tortillas ranging from plain to tomato basil and jalapeño cheddar. You can really stuff these bad boys up so it looks like its about to burst… and so will your gut if you manage to finish em. It can get pricey but for giant burritos made to satisfy the appetite of the gods… look no further.

Saying that this place is better than Chipotle is not really saying much. Chipotle leaves a lot to be desired. Bonfires is not the perfect tortilla bar, but I enjoy eating there and so does my family. It’s the only place I go for Mexican(–ish) food in the entire town. The only major complaint I have about them is that sometimes the food is overly salty. There is enough seating for groups of 4 people or under — more than that and you’ll need to get two tables. The restaurant is also really small, so be aware you’ll probably be pretty close to the door and keep the weather in mind when you decide to dine in. The prices aren’t super cheap but they aren’t unreasonable either. If you’re looking for a quick lunch or dinner under $ 10, this is a good place to visit.

I started eating here when they opened(I was stationed at SJAFB). Since then I’ve moved back home to Ohio, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss these giant burritos. I crave them so much that sometimes I cannot sleep. Finally, after several years of torture, we stopped by on our way to Myrtle Beach and it hasn’t changed at all. By far the best burrito place I’ve ever been to. F#% Chipotle!!!

In a sad chapter of my life, I was one of the unfortunate who have, at one time or another, found themselves living in the hell-hole that is Goldsboro. For the last year or so of my time there, this little burrito bar was a rare silver lining. Is it awesome? No, not quite. But it was pretty good most of the time(though the meats were occasionally dry & overdone from being warmed too long). I don’t understand the constant comparisons to Chipotle in the other reviews. I’m afraid no one has yet revealed to the other reiewers that Chipotle is garbage. Honestly, is there anyone that can eat such stuff? Anyway, from Bonfire’s, my weapon of choice was a steak & black bean burrito on sundried tomato tortilla, with rice, shredded cheese, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, jalapeño, lime juice and(I think) a mango habanero sauce. Overall, 5⁄10(9⁄10 relative to local restaurants).

My co-workers and I ate here a few times for lunch during the week. Granted this place is a heck of a lot better than Taco Bell it definately is not a Qdoba or Chipotle. I love Qdoba and was spoiled with their greatness when I was in Florida. However this place does make some pretty good burritos. I usually get the regular for lunch and that is it. Chicken, black beans, rice, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, and of course salsa. It is extra if you want a drink, and they have sweet tea or fountain soda. If you do not get someone that wraps the burrito well then it will be pretty messy to eat. Also the lines here tend to be long at lunchtime and there are not many places to sit at. Overall this is a pretty decent place for a burrito.

I know, I know… its not Chipotle! Let me just put this out there: I am really getting annoyed to see all these reviews from the fancy-pants food snobs from big cities come to our small town and rip every establishment we have. I know this isn’t NYC, or Raleigh, but damn it — is everything in Goldsboro completely inedible? We may not have all your fancy 5 stars and big name chain restaurants, but if you can get over yourself for 1 minute… ok, I will quit now. With all that being said, I give Bonfire’s a solid three stars. As I’ve already stated, it’s not Chipotle(yes, I have ventured outside of Podunk, USA and tried your big-city eateries) but it’s not half bad either. I will agree with other reviewers on this point: it is a little pricey. I feel its a little ridiculous to charge .79 cents extra for guacomole(.59 for sour cream), but that doesn’t detract from the fact that it is a pretty good burrito. Be sure to check ‘em out on Wednesdays, as the special is shrimp burritos — my favorite! ITISN’T CHIPOTLE, but it’ll do in a pinch.

After hearing that this was THEPLACE to go for a burrito, and that it was even better than Chipotle, I figured I should definitely check it out. I’m so glad I did, but for all the wrong reasons. On the suggestion of my brother-in-law and his friend, my husband and I opted for Bonfire over our original decision to get salads at Ruby Tuesday. We are huge Chipotle, Qdoba, etc. fans, so we knew we would love this too. Boy were we wrong. I ordered the bowl(not on the menu; I had to ask for no tortilla) with rice, black beans, grilled veggies, cheese, lettuce, onion, cilantro, tomato and mild salsa, with sour cream and guac(which were both an extra charge). I figured I couldn’t go wrong. Unfortunately my rice was barely cooked through and the guacamole seemed like it might have been days old. I couldn’t finish the meal due to the hard rice and overall disappointing flavors. My husband ordered the regular burrito on a flour tortilla with chicken, pico, verde sauce, rice, cilantro, cheese, and grilled veggies. He too had barely cooked rice. Also to his dismay, the verde sauce was actually more like a sweet and sour sauce. hmmmm. He actually had to smother the burrito with green tabasco in order to get through it. We looked around to survey everything while we slowly tried to consume the almost inedible and noticed that most of the ingredients were not fresh or homemade. The tortillas are made off-site, the chips came out of a plastic bag, and the guacamole was aged(not sure if they make it there or not). I don’t usually review a place after only one visit, but this visit was so poor that we felt it necessary to share our experience. To be fair, as this was our first and only visit, if we ever go back I will be sure to update this review. The silver lining: I’m not sorry we checked it out, as we would have always wondered.

Almost everyone says«its better than Chipotle» —(insert skeptical one eyebrow raised look here),((I mean come on, am I really supposed to believe them? I LOVECHIPOTLE!)) Everyone also said it was a little pricey but since I’m in the skeptical spirit of not believing… It’s Monday, its lunch, and its no Chipotle, but comparing the two burrito bars would be like comparing apples to oranges. I got the regular size burrito(they have 3 sizes: junior, regular, and Beast lol) with shredded marinated steak, grilled onions and green peppers, cilantro leaves, shredded cheese, and refried beans on a flour tortilla(came to 6.24 total w/o a drink). They have several tortilla options as well(I remember a green one and sundried tomato). The burrito was good and a perfect size. A little messy(drippy) but food isn’t always neat. I really wish Unilocal gave half stars because we’d be working with 3.5 to 3.75 stars here. So if you are in Goldsboro and need a quick/easy(conveniently located) burrito fix… Bonfuego it is…
