Credit Union of the Rockies

I’m really not sure what all of the negative comments are about. I’ve never had issues with this credit union. The staff has always been polite and I’ve never had to wait long to be served. I am very pleased with the service here. I also use their website to transfer funds to my other credit unions quite frequently.

Surprisingly clueless when it comes to customer service.
There have been numerous times when I’ve been standing in line waiting for a teller while watching multiple other CU employees mill about, talking and going about other business while customers stand waiting. Once or twice might be understandable, but this is protocol at Credit Union of the Rockies. Some staff are friendly and helpful, but many seem only half-​engaged and not particularly happy with working there.
Additionally, there seems to be new faces there regularly so turnover is evidently an issue.
I have also had a less than stellar experience with their loan department. To make a long story short, I met with their loan officer at the time (Craig) and the VP about putting together some portfolio financing. They were friendly, helpful and seemed eager to work with me. After agreeing to take action in the next couple of days, two weeks went by with me leaving 2 voicemails for the loan officer. Finally, I got a voicemail back from him stating they were ready to «get started» on the process.
I was literally shocked and moved towards working with another bank.
CUOR is adequate at best only as a CU service center for my banking with another local credit union.

The long and the short of it is that if you want super fast service and perfect follow-​up, you might go with a different bank.
I recently secured a motorcycle loan through CU of the Rockies and while the application process was pretty fast with a great loan rate, the rest of the process has been pretty junky. They don’t do electronic file transfers for the loan docs, so I had to head out to Golden and get the loan docs and then head back to Aurora to my dealership to get the bike.
The dealer sent the title paperwork to me instead of the bank, so I hand delivered the title docs to the credit union for processing, since my bike was being ridden with temp tags. 11 days elapsed after I dropped off the mis-​mailed paperwork and the expiration of my temp tags came due, so I went in to the DMV to get my temps extended for another 15 days. Spoke with my loan rep at the credit union and I’m pretty sure I reminded her to send in the paperwork to the state so I could get my darned license plates.
On a side note, I spoke with someone regarding refinancing my home loan, spoke with them for about 20 minutes (about 5 weeks ago) and never heard back. Nice!
Update: I was recently contacted by a service manager from this bank and he explained to me that there have been some improvements to their system and staffing to enhance their customer experience… I’m still of the opinion that you only have one change to make a first impression, especially when dealing with peoples finances, but I do appreciate that I was contacted…
