Pick of the Litter

This place may employ great groomers but I wouldn’t recommend boarding your pet there. We picked up our dog last weekend and she had a cut on her lip, was lethargic and just laid on the floor for hours after she got home. She was also trembling and wouldn’t even make eye contact with us. She is normally a very happy, interactive dog. I called them after she got home and asked them about the sore on her lip, and they said she inflicted it upon herself from the chomping she was doing with her jaw. She didn’t eat or drink for a whole day. We took her to the vet on Tuesday night and they said she most likely suffered a neck injury while she was there by the way her front legs were falling out from under her and prescribed Prednisone to alleviate the inflammation. Something clearly happened to her while at Pick of the Litter because she wasn’t acting like this when we dropped her off. Pick of the Litter called us twice on Sunday and said «when are you coming to pick up your dog.» When my husband went to pick her up, the owner never said anything about the sore on her lip or anything else. It was clear that they just wanted to get our dog out of there. We have boarded her there in the past and never had any problems but we will never take her back there. If something happened to her while under their care, they should have talked to us about it. My sister-​in-​law has taken her dogs there over the years and said they are good groomers but the place is always filthy. The vet gave us a list of boarders they recommend and Pick of the Litter wasn’t on the list. We will not be using them again.

Boarded a dog there twice first time he came back and his bedding was all wet. Why? Why not say something to me that its wet? They were also supposed to bathe him and they didn’t. The second time he came back with kennel cough. Seems like they need a better kennel/​cleaning staff. Won’t be going back.

I took our cocker spaniel in today. He is energetic and a handful for any groomer. But the ladies there took very good care of him. Trina was beyond wonderful. The price for my medium sized dog’s haircut was cheaper than I expected it to be. The location is off the beaten path and their modest shop might not impress, but the staff and the prices are wonderful.

New to the area, this came highly recommended, and deserves to be. Although told to ask for“Barb”, who was off my date, Trina was wonderful. Very professional and very nice personality, and proved to be a great groomer. No cute little bows or neck kercheifs, but no need. The prices are so reasonable and the job so well done and complete, that’s was matters.
