Worst campground I’ve ever stayed at. Once you get past the rude staff and owner, you deal with horrible camp spots next to busy train tracks. Stay away of this small hell hole

This place is a cluster! The management, at least for the RV section of the property is simply a mess. Their RV spots are already on the smaller side to begin with and they have a huge lack of common sense so they put smaller RVs in larger spaces so then when a large RV comes and one of those larger spaces is needed there are none available! Getting into the RV section is tight and very inconvenient.
When we got there, they had given the large spots to small RVs (30 feet of less) of course we didn’t find this out until we drove up to our assigned RV spot, nearly got stuck, had to call the office and then go back down to the office so they can move people (that weren’t there yet) around to accommodate our size. I’m not sure what they were thinking, when in fact I told them over the phone that we were 38 feet plus our trailer which was another 20 feet.
There are no convenient locations for trash bins and their hookups are as bad as their management. The water and electrical are at the back of the RV space and the clean out is at the front of the RV space. Most people couldn’t reach both simultaneously. They also say they have wifi, except you have to go sit at the grill they have in order to get any signal, which is awful and not dependable.
Unless I’m stuck in Glenwood Springs and have no other options, I will not be staying here again nor would I recommend it.

If you’re looking to have a good nights rest or get any sleep at all, then this place is NOT for you. A train passes all throughout the day including every hour during the night. It’s extremely loud and it last about 5 – 10 minutes each time one comes through. On the positive side, it’s next to the river and a good place to have a camp site.

Didn’t even get a chance to stay at this place because the phone service and accommodation choices were so BAD.
I called and got put on hold (not a huge deal), but then the phone was picked up by FIVE DIFFERENT PEOPLE, each one saying something like «are you holding for activities?» or «are you holding for rafting?» Each time I’d explain what I wanted and get put on hold AGAIN.
After I finally got to speak to someone about reserving a riverside tent site, they told me I’d have to pay a non-​refundable fee up front without getting to choose my site. WHY PUT A SITE GUIDE ON THE WEBSITE IF YOU DON’T LET PEOPLE CHOOSE THEIR CAMPSITES?
I wanted to be away from the zipline and bar/​grill, over on the other side of the boat dock where it’s quiet and calm. I called three months in advance in order to make this reservation and get the spot I wanted, only to find out they would refuse to give me the spot I wanted.
Not. Cool.
I won’t be bringing my business here. I’d rather sleep in a parking lot in my car.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband’s family. There were a lot of us so we had 1 family cabin and 2 of the basic cabins — the ones without bathrooms, just beds.
It was perfect for us as we were in cabins and didn’t hear any of the noise some of these other reviews have mentioned. The bar & grill was decent — the service was really great for us and we didn’t have a problem with the check-​in process either.
All in all, it was exactly what we needed for the weekend. We packed in a lot of people in the family cabin so it was affordable but I could see how this place would seem pricey for a single family looking for a place to stay.
The only downfall to the place were the beds in the basic cabins — I was shocked that they could even call them mattresses. My husband’s sister’s family were essentially sleeping on the boards under the «mattresses.»

Excellent campground. Super friendly staff, very accommodating! Beautiful views and lots of activities. Only gripe I have is that is was really pricey to do laundry…$ 7.00 for wash/​dry!

If I could give «0» stars, I would. We had a death in the family and could not make it up to this place this weekend. As we still have 3 nights that are paid for that we haven’t used, I called and asked if we could have a credit. Not a refund. We want to make this trip but just couldn’t this weekend. We rented a space for our travel trailer. As a «family» business and family «being #1» around here, you would think the owners would have some compassion and at least let us use our reservation another time. Well, the woman could’ve cared less about a death in the family and just referred to the confirmation email that outlines their «policy.» I told the woman that I don’t doubt that they have a cancellation policy, but since it’s a family-​owned business could they make an exception? Absolutely not! The worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. We’re local and camp with several friends that also have trailers and I will make sure word gets out to not stay at this place. I only wish I had looked on here prior to making a reservation. Could’ve saved my family $ 300+
There’s so many nice campgrounds in CO with great people– skip this one.

We stayed in the luxury cabins and I originally chose this place because it was pet friendly. We ended up not taking our dog and in hindsight, I wish I would have chosen somewhere else (considering what I paid, we could have gotten a luxury suite somewhere else!). But one of their many stringent policies is NO refunds within 30 days — and they charge you for your entire stay up front. They have ZERO flexibility in check-​in time — we asked if we could check in at 3:45 when check in was normally 4:00 pm and not only did they say no but they lied and said housekeeping was still cleaning the cabins and they had the keys to room, which was an obvious lie since the keys were hanging on the wall behind him. Next, when we got to our cabin, it had some obvious damage the outside. Paint was peeling off the doors, a screen window was barely hanging on. The inside had a door that looked like Vandam had been in there doing drop kicks. The closet doors were about to collapse on one another and it was just dirty. Dirt in all of the corners, food between the stove and the cabinets, visible dirt and debris in the vents. It was gross. I realize a) it’s a cabin in the woods, and b) that we got the ‘pet’ friendly suite… but does that imply that quality and cleanliness go out the door? I will say the location is peaceful and quiet (at least where we were). No one we stayed in the cabins while we were here, which made it nice. They are very close together and I’m sure it’d be disturbing if all the cabins were full. We chose to spend our time off the resort mostly and otherwise enjoyed our time in Glenwood.

PLEASE take the time to read the Google reviews as well! Choose another RV «resort»!
We unfortunately read them TOO LATE and found out that we were not alone. First impression by phone when making the reservation — staff, specifically Karen (the proprietor???) is RUDE. Should have been our first clue. Check in — staff is RUDE and even though we discussed having 2 kids and dogs when we made the reservation, that wasn’t taken into account… $ 90 up charge. For three nights we pay OVER $ 300! WHO DOES THAT and doesn’t honor their agreement we had prior to driving to this place! Okay, so we get checked in. Site size is SMALL! Thankful we have a small pop up camper that barely fit side by side to the picnic table. We’ll get over it, but we are quite literally within 6 — 8 feet of the campers on either side. For the HIGH cost of this place, you’d swear their facilities would be newer. They aren’t. The restroom and shower facilities are not updated and although cleaned daily feel VERY dirty. Wear your Crocs!

Beautiful– we are here now, sitting outside, enjoying the scenery. We are on the upper level in the rv section. It’s quiet at night, we’ve had no issues with noise. The bathrooms are immaculately cared for. Plenty of hot water no matter what time of day. Easily accessible 16 mile walking /​bike trail borders the Colorado River. Close enough to town to bike. Dog friendly, but be certain to pick up. Some people might be annoyed by the park personnel who seem to be everywhere, but it looks like good management to me. Resort is very well maintained overall. Best experience on the road so far.

If you don’t like to sleep and you like to have your RV gas cap 1 foot from the neighbors camp fire, this is the place for you. The website made it sound magical and beautiful but the RV spots were parking spots, barely 2 feet on either side. And the train that makes a clickety clack sound, not quite. Try 100 decibel metallic screech 6 –10 times a night. We paid for 2 expensive nights, but refused to stay the last night. It was so very uncomfortable and so noisy, not the lovely site described.

This place is a tourist trap!!! The «family cabins» are trailers. The pictures are very deceiving, the sites have zero space between them. It’s like camping in a parking lot. Not to mention the customer service was absolutely terrible at the park. They were completely unaccommodating. If you are looking for a $ 12 beer, a campsite full of rocks and zero privacy this is your place. Our large group will not be returning.

Thoroughly enjoyed our two-​night stay in a riverside camper cabin at Glenwood Canyon Resort. We had everything we needed (four walls, beds — we brought sleeping bags, electricity, chairs, porch, picnic table, fire pit) all just feet from the Colorado River. The kids had a great time exploring, fishing and swimming in the cold river (even if only the rock fish were biting), and mom and dad had some much needed down time. The only drawback was the No Name Grill. Although we appreciated the fact it was there (when I realized I forgot half the items I needed for dinner the first night), but didn’t appreciate spending such a ridiculous amount on bar food (and a not very good entrée). Oh well. We will definitely be back for more camping cabin fun and can’t wait to try a rafting trip.

DO NOT STAY IN A TENT SITE!!! These sites sound wonderful as advertised. Next to the river. Close to Glenwood Springs. Access to bike paths.
But the truth is the sites are very small. Our site was crammed next to the road turnaround. There was a choice of either the truck or our small four person tent. No room for the six man tent. The kitchen set up… even chairs. Super small.
And almost 35 $ a night to boot!!!
Oh. And the train WILL wake you at least four times a night.
These sites are worth $ 10 bucks max.
We honestly felt like we were in a camping ghetto. To top it off, three drunks stumbled onto the next camp site in the middle of the night and fought the owners. Trains. Dogs barking everywhere. Mariachi music blasting. Drunks. Cops. Man, this getting away from it all is awesome!
The new deck is beautiful. Great views. But the drinks and food are terribly expensive. $ 8 for four Ozs of house wine? $ 13 for a hamburger?
The RV sites above look better and i cannot comment on them.

So I found out about Glenwood Springs while researching a location for a summer vacation with the family. We decided to stay at Glenwood Canyon Resort after looking at various hotels. I read previous reviews concerning the RV and camping locations but figured we’d take a chance on the deluxe cabins. Glad we did. The cabins are quaint but were clean and well stocked with utensils and dinnerware. My children loved sleeping in the loft and the bed in the «master room» was comfortable. The best thing was the view we had. Beautiful. All the employees were helpful and nice. We would definitely stay here again. Oh and they offer rafting on site which we also took advantage of!

Beautiful scenery, a little pricey, RV spots were ok, the weeds were out of hand and I think for the money they charge the camp sites could be weed free. The restaurant and bar closed to early 8 pm :(we got there at 7:30 by the time we checked in it was to late.

We camped in a tent so I can only speak in regards to camping. We just stopped in looking for a place to camp for one night. We didn’t look at the campsite before committing to staying there and I wish we would have.
Each site is literally right next to each other. The area is probably around 12×12 and is crushed gravel. Not so comfortable to sleep on when you’re in a tent. To get in and out of your assigned square you need to pretty much walk though other people’s camping area. There are only community fire pits and grills, not individual for each site. We went when it wasn’t busy and even with the few tents that were up it seemed like there was no privacy. It was pretty expensive just to pitch a tent on rocks in a small fenced in area ($ 28 and not on the river). We bought wood from the office and that too was expensive and wouldn’t even burn, just smoked us out. The only reason I’m giving it two stars was because it was nice to have a shower and the bathrooms were clean.
if you’re camping, keep going.

BEWARE: FALSE ADVERTISING on the Glenwood Canyon Resort website.
Glenwood Canyon Resort does NOT honor the cabin rates that are posted on their website. They state their «off season» is September-​May and rates for their deluxe resort cabins start at $ 99. I called last week and the starting rate is actually $ 179. Contrary to their website, I was told over the phone that their «off season» actually begins in November.
On another note, it’s interesting that Stu B., a representative of the Resort, only responds to Unilocal reviews that give 4 or 5 stars. A resort that knows how to give good customer service wouldn’t exclude more than half of their paying customers. Most business owners apologize for legitimately poor service and want to know what they can do better next time in order to improve.

Do not waste your time with these people! My boyfriend and I had schedule a camping trip to go here. His uncle and aunt both passed away unexpectedly and the funeral ended up being scheduled for the weekend we were supposed to go camping. We tried multiple times to see if we could move our reservation by both phone and e-​mail. We left messages, on both voicemail and an employee said they left a handwritten note for the manager. We received no response. Finally, we were able to get someone on the phone the day before we were supposed to arrive who said our reservation had been canceled — at no point in time had we ever asked for the reservation to be canceled! In fact, I was still going to go camping with some friends if they could not move it.
Their customer service is horrible, they charged us for two nights of camping and then canceled our spot without our request. To be treated with such disrespect is highly unacceptable. Clearly, their staff is incompetent and heartless to pass such disregard to someone who lost two family members. I can only hope fellow campers take my advice and stay away from this organization to avoid being screwed over and treated like crap. I do not recommend staying here and encourage you to find a campground with quality people running it! Camping is supposed to be a fun family and friends oriented event — not a horrid and frustrating experience! I can only imagine what our stay would have been like if this is how they treat people before they even arrive!

You need to know before you go, this place is PACKED. This isn’t going to be a retreat of solitude.
That being said, if you can mind your own business and not mind a million people being around, and kids biking everywhere you will enjoy this place.
The scenery is awesome. Camp on the river and watch the train.
