The service at this place is HORRIBLE. Unfriendly staff and waiters no one cares about your order. We sat for 20 minutes while everyone else is looking aimlessly for their order. We got up and left. I will never come here Again

I would give this no stars but it wont let me post it. The service sucks, took half an hour just to get a waiter to come over and get our drink order. The family that came in after us got their drinks in 5 minutes. I cancelled my order immediately

This review is for the current place which is under new ownership and chefship!
The food is fresh, delicate and exactly what you want on the beach at sunset. They are working on a permit so for now it’s BYOB and there is a great wine shop up the street in sea crest called village wine merchants. Try the street style Mexican corn and crab cocktail for something you will want to go back for more.

If it was possible to give this less than 1 star, I would have. We went to a relaxing lunch on Labor Day, we were surprised to see they weren’t busy despite the 25 – 30 minute wait time. We went to the bar for a drink and to wait, an was swarmed by bees for the duration of our meal. The bartender didn’t quite understand that cherries and other garnishes needed to be covered, and despite bees covering them he served them anyway. It was only after what appeared to be an experienced server who ordered him to throw them out.
We finally sit at our table, and order our drinks. Out on the patio, we were given a table with no umbrella in 90+ degree heat. That’s perfectly fine as it was a beautiful day, but the waitress made a joke about it with no offer to move us (don’t forget they were filled to half capacity max). I order my salad which should have been mixed greens, pineapple, macadamia nuts and shrimp with dressing on the side. I wish I would have taken a picture of what I was presented with. A plate of mixed greens, drowned in dressing with chunks of pineapple thrown on top. She gave me my salad, followed by an «oh, you had shrimp didn’t you? Be right back»… 4 pieces of shrimp later and this cost me $ 26.
Needless to say, we won’t be back anytime soon.

The location, view, playground next door for kids and atmosphere is pretty unbeatable (main reason for 3 stars, versus 2). They seem to have a nice happy hour but unfortunately, the food is bland and listless. I also noticed many comments about the bartenders and I have to agree, for the one drink I went to order while waiting, I had to nearly reach across the bar to get the attention of the bartender, who was simply standing there, blank-​faced (i.e., she had finished taking other orders and was distracted — perhaps an off night, who knows). It was strange. I also agree that this place would greatly benefit from some restaurateurs that know what they are doing. Sea Cliff and Roslyn are such meccas for food, so there is no chance I would have a proper dinner here again, but for the location, I would definitely go back for drinks, appetizers and maybe dinner for the kids.

Ok so I know it’s hard to keep a seasonal place up and running but with that said, YES. ITS VERY EXPENSIVE, for what you get. We had three drinks at the bar. With tip it was $ 54 dollars. Two mixed and one beer. The food is mediocre at best and the service, yes the service. They are kids, it’s a summer job and they all have 0 experience so management/​owners decide to train on the fly at the patrons expense. I believe they change managers and chefs a couple times already in the last couple years. At least they are trying but until they get it right. It’s one star. Better luck next season

Bartenders are extremely inexperienced! Could wait 20 minutes simply to be noticed, then another 20 for your drinks. Beautiful view but be prepared to wait for your drinks!

Went to this place for lunch with a friend. I have been here on numerous occasions and never thought the food was great but it is a beautiful location. First, I waited ten minutes for a glass of water. Second, we were told the soup was homemade it was far from homemade. My friend ordered it and I could tell it was canned with lobster thrown on top of it. No bread on the table, which is a necessity when having a restaurant. Ordered a frozen margarita and I got one on the rocks. Nothing was taken off the bill or even given a free drink. I would only recommend this place for drinks at the bar. They were also out of steamers and mussels during summertime. I had a crab cake which was fair. The baked clams were overstuffed with breaking and not hot. This place needs to get a better waitstaff especially when charging the prices they do!

Good service, beautiful view of the sunset. Buffalo shrimp wrap was good, coleslaw was very crunchy and tasty. My nephew loved the shrimp tacos, and wished there was 3 rather than 2.
Overall a nice dinner. Would come back and have a few drinks with friends. Prices were a bit high, but I guess you’re paying for the view.

Four stars because the location is fantastic, right on the beach! Amazing place for a beautiful sunset on a balmy summer night. This is their second season and I am happy to say that a trip to the Seafood Shack will leave you happy and relaxed, like you are away. The menu offers a good variety of seafood, burgers, fish tacos, lobster and lobster roll and tilapia to mention a few, and everything we ordered was satisfying, actually quite good. The staff seemed on the ball, thank God because this seems to be a problem in the area. These local spots on the water just cannot get good help and seem to be oblivious to the fact that it is key to their success. Our server was professional and friendly and we had no complaints. They also had a DJ that added to the vacation ambience. The only complaint I would have is that the restaurant shares a not so clean public restroom with the beach. Kinda tacky but maybe they will eventually change that. Thank you Singletons for giving us a local waterfront place that is a pleasure to patronize!

Clearly they have upgraded their chef, menu to die for, and staff (we had waiter Kevin)!! Will definitely be back! Happy Hour every day starting at 5p told it’s packed!

We came here after a gig at Bar Beach across the water. Was hesitant because of all the bad reviews about service but took the chance anyway and boy were we glad we did!!!
They must be reading the reviews here cause the service was excellent! Devon was our server and he was very attentive without being imposing! And the rest of the staff really seemed to have each others backs!
The food is a bit above average but not excellent. The lobster roll is a little flavorless — the crab cake burger special was much better! The fish tacos could have used more fish (even if it meant raising the price to cover cost) — would make it much more worth it! Fried calamari and mozzarella sticks were nice too!
All in all this place is worth the visit. The weather helped too! Nice and breezy and warm!

Maybe the negative reviewers went to a different restaurant! We went on a Wednesday night, and the service, food, and view were excellent! Our server Matt was attentive, knowledgable, and friendly– a plus for the restaurant. My wife ordered talapia, an ordinarily tasteless fish, and the chef’s sauce made it delicious. All of the other dishes were similarly tasty and well prepared (including my non-​fish entrée). It was a wonderful dining experience and we will return soon.

Great scenery, excellent food and drinks, amazing waitstaff and management! Beautiful beach views! Loved the fresh seafood.

Ugh, didn’t like this place. I’ve eaten here twice and I wasn’t happy with it either time. The menu is small and basic, the food follows suit. It’s expensive and the service isn’t great. The views, however, are nice and it’s a relaxing place to enjoy a meal.

I honestly want to love this place. Great view, decent food, but the service… let’s just say it can use some work.
I understand people make mistakes, but when your server spills a full drink all over you that shatters glass everywhere, they (or a manger) could at least apologize for you being covered in rum punch and then maybe offer to at least not charge you for that drink.
If it wasn’t for the view I would never consider going back. If anything, just stick with the bar, and even then, prepare to encounter a pretty pricey bar for Glen Head/​Sea Cliff.

I wish this gets bought out and made much better… place was run to the ground… horrible. Glen head deserves better

Great view, great ambiance BUT the service really isn’t that good, very unfriendly server .
The food was just ok nothing special .
I would probably come here again just for the scenery and maybe have some cocktails but that’s about it, overpriced as well !

Was really hoping to come back this year (after several terrible experiences the previous year) with something positive to say… but alas nothing has changed. The service is just bad. The food is subpar and the prices are unnecessary.
The location is the only one of its kind in the area so that has to be the only reason people come here. I wish they would put a little more effort into running this place… it makes me sad.
