JHE’s Log Furniture Place

Hello,
I purchased the Cedar Lake Cabin Easy-​Glide Log Futon and two Cedar Lake Half Log End Tables.
Pros: Customer service was good here at JHE, when I called on the phone. The ladies were pleasant and worked out all of our concerns.
Their product arrived timely, well packaged and not damaged.
Cons: Be advised that the joints on these pieces are NOT glued. They are simply screwed together. I found this out when one of the end tables was missing a screw and the leg came off while unpacking it.
Moving on… since the joints are not glued, even after pounding them in further and tightening the screws, our futon is wobbly, with squeaks and creaks when you get on and off of it. I was able to remove and glue the slider feet into place which were very loose.
The directions were not up to date, so I called and left a message about this and needed advice on where to attach the long strip of wood that stops the slider from pulling out too far. No return call… figured that out, no biggie.
Summary: These are great looking products, this finish is excellent. The futon is very comfortable. I have to rate the craftsmanship as poor, because the joints are not tight and will certainly loosen in time. I cringe every time I hear the joints squeak on this thing.
I have since sourced another company which glues and screws all the joints and will be purchasing about 20 pieces from them. They assured me that their products are SOLID.

The RODEO LIGHT King Size ASPEN Log Bed is absolutely of good quality. I know for sure it would last for 10, 20 or 30 years because of the workmanship and the materials. It would look good as the same day as we have received it. Well, it seemed expensive but in hindsight, the cost was very reasonable if we consider the bed’s quality. They also have extremely nice and highly professional staff. They also built a custom cabinet for us and that too is excellent.
Great stuff. Great quality. You wouldn’t regret spending your money for such excellent furniture.

JHES Log Furniture was the one who built the cabinets, beds, chairs and tables for our recently renovated ancestral house. They also did several vanities to our bathroom and kitchen. They were very meticulous in their work as a master furniture builder and made sure every piece was built perfectly. I would recommend their work and their furniture to anyone. Also, I need mention that every member of the family, including my grandparents, were very pleased with their work. One look and we all can see how durable the pieces were made. They use high quality materials and the workmanship was excellent. Thank you. Our ancestors would surely be pleased with your work.

This is an intermediate review, I will update it if things improve after all is said and done.
First the positive: I first ordered a queen size log cabin style futon, and after I put in the order, a few days later (or was it a week?) I changed my mind and wanted a full. Without any fuss they changed my order and refunded me the difference between the two sizes.
Now the not-positive-but-not-yet-outright-negative-let’s-see: The futon was supposed to come today. It did. But: even though it was a wood futon, it came fully assembled. There was no way it would fit through the door. I expected it to arrive in parts rather than fully assembled. If they were going to deliver it fully assembled, they should have been very explicit about it. I had no choice but to send it back with the driver. However, I desperately needed the futon by latest today, given I have family coming over. Given the nature of the construction of the futon – it seemed like a super-​solid thing with wood logs glued to each other in the firmest possible way – the driver said he’d have zero capacity to deal with it all by himself.
I am going to call them tomorrow to see what can be done about this situation. I am really hoping for a feasible solution that doesn’t break the bank and doesn’t mean my family members have to sleep on the floor because the solution would arrive with a big delay…
