I have been many places for sesame chicken, but this sesame chicken is the best. I would walk on hot coals and lay on a bed of nails if it was the only way I could eat this chicken.

West wok is always fast and hot. Every time I call in an order they say 10 minutes. Guess what? It’s always ready when I get there in 10 minutes or less. Service is always friendly. Food is your standard Chinese take out. Not exceptional, but certainly not the worst around. Good better then average food. At a very fair price. Lower then others in the area.

Live a mile a way and have stopped here for years. Owner is very nice, the servings are large and quality is decent. Prices are very reasonable. Service is very fast.

I think a second rating that *does* give 4* strikes a good balance, actually: still friendly, utterly reliable, and never going to be in the same universe as a Michelin star :). In terms of food quality and amount per $$, very hard to beat. And the moo shu is great.

One of two strip plaza Chinese takeout places at opposite corners of the Route 9W/Feura Bush Rd intersection. West Wok is located in the newer Glenmont Shopping Plaza. I was in the mood for Chinese takeout and I was in Glenmont. I flipped a coin to decide which Chinese takeout place I would go to. It was«heads» so I ended up at West Wok. West Wok is very small, with an open kitchen and a couple tables and chairs for waiting. I enter the place and the guy behind the counter was chatting very loudly in Chinese over his cellphone and would not get off. Since I was a bit in a rush, I grabbed a menu and circled my lunch choice, which was L5 Roast Pork Lo Mein served with pork fried rice and choice of soup(I chose hot & sour). The guy takes the menu and gives orders to the cooks in Chinese and gets off the phone. The cooks were super fast cooking my meal and the order was ready in 5 minutes flat! The total came out to $ 4.48 with tax, so I hand the guy a $ 5 bill and I was going to leave the change(52 cents) in the tip bucket for being very quick, but the guy shortchanged me keeping 37 cents, in a sense«nickel and dime-ing» me to 15 cents. Be warned to count your change. I get home and the hot food was actually pretty good, generous portions of tasty lo mein, with lots of lean roast pork strips. The pork fried rice was yellow in color with roast pork chunks. The pint of hot and sour soup was very-very spicy with lots of tofu, bamboo shoots, egg, pork, peppers, and spices. The overall food and service would’ve given this experience a solid 4 stars, but I have to stick with the principle, though very minor and petty and deduct one star for imposing their own tip underhandedly.
