Italian Smiles

I have been a patient at Italian Smiles for about 10 years — even though I’m not Italian… I’ve always been treated fairly and respectfully and that policy is clearly being carried forward. Having recently retired and trying to live on a fixed income, I recently experienced a nasty dental problem. I was treated by Dr. Prade who did a great job of taking care of me. He even agreed to help me keep the temp tooth longer than normal until my 1 year wait time for new Dental Insurance was up so I could save some money. When the temp tooth broke, I went in and Dr. LaVant took care of me this time. For various reasons they couldn’t make a replacement temp tooth the standard way. So, the Manager stepped in and tediously created and sculpted from scratch a tooth that fit perfectly. A Michaleangelo she isn’t :) but she did a great job and it fits and feels perfect. I’ll bet you won’t find too many dental offices that would go to all that trouble just to save a patient a few bucks. I think the new management and staff are great. You won’t be disappointed with their courtesy and professionalism.

Dr. LaVant and his team are awesome! If you’re looking for a great dentist you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for all your help Doc!

I had a wonderful experience at Italian Smiles. I was a little turned off at first because of the one star review I saw, however after calling the office I was informed that the office is now under new management. Dr. LaVant and his staff were so friendly and welcoming. They took time to get to know me and ask me questions about my life, and genuinely were interested in what I had to say! It was like no other experience I have had before. When they learned I had a young son, the hygienist made me a bag with a children’s tooth brush and some floss to take home to him. It was so sweet and I will definitely be going back as well as taking my son there!

Italian smiles is now under new ownership. I have known Dr. Lavant for years and there is not a more trustworthy dentist in town. Highly recommend!

Went in for teeth cleaning and some fillings, under the impression they were going to do all the dental work, not just four hours of teeth cleaning. I chose to be sedated with Halcion, a high power benzodiazapine, before treatment due to extreme dental anxieties. When the Halcion didn’t work and an hour in, after two doses, I was still having difficulties calming down on the table, they called the appointment off and sent me home. I rescheduled the appointment for just the teeth cleaning on the Tuesday of the next week, and when I showed up, they had just decided to cancel my appointment, claiming they had sent a letter to me about their refusal of treatment due to my anxiety, which would have been avoided in the first place for me if they had communicated effectively what was happening on the day of the initial appointment. No phone call, just a letter, which I didn’t receive. On top of that, I requested for them to send my xrays four days prior before a new appointment at another dentist office that they felt could better treat me. I show up for that appointment, and guess what? No xrays were emailed, and they were closed that day. When I talked to Italian Smiles after showing up for my ‘canceled’ appointment, they said they just didn’t bother to send them until the morning after my other appointment– how does that help me again? I had to get new xrays done because your secretary was to lazy to spend five minutes emailing another practitioner four days prior. I have no words for how unprofessionally they treated me. I understand that working with people who have dental anxiety can be a challenge, and I warned them about it before hand which is why I chose to be sedated. Which I was still charged for, even though no work got done and I obviously had no reaction to the Halcion they gave me. This was the worst, most time wasting interaction with a dental office I have ever had. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone, ever.
