Food is nasty. You can’t pick what you eat. It is like someone who is mildly retarded thought of this business model. It was so bad that my parents who usually don’t say anything told them the food was gross when they came by to see how things were. Go to Jewel, buy a loaf of bread and it will be better. You will also be much happier the next day when the food does not have to run through your system.

The Village Hut is a traditional Indian restaurant serving food from the state of Gujarat. Allow me to take you through the evening from the moment I sat down. There were five of us in our party. We sat down, only to find that our plates were dirty. I thought it was just mine, but nope, it was all of ours. When I alerted the OWNER about the issue, he suggested it was just my plate(I was the young one, eating with my parents and their friends). He switched my plate with a plate from a nearby table, only for that plate to also be dirty. When I showed him to his face that the new plate also had food remnants on it, he took all of our plates back and had the busboy re-clean everything. Ok so now we have what we hope are clean plates. I’ll put this behind me. Lets see the food. FOOD: There is no menu, but rather it is called«thali» style. They start you off with some Chaas(chilled milk/yogurt prep) and water. Then they bring a plate full of «appetizers». Our appetizers included ‘candmi’, ‘dokhla’, and ‘bhajya(potato). They then bring out, I kid you not, six different vegetables along with a very traditional bread(bakhri). After this course, they bring out a rice dish(keechri) and a type of «soup»(kadi). Yet, after even this, they bring out sweets. At any point, you can order more of any item. There is no limit. Its like a buffet at your table. The food is excellent. The amount of food and the variety of food is unreal and astonishing. The type of food is traditional Indian food from the state of Gujarat. The meals are either 12 or 13 dollars/person. During some months, there is live show dancing as well. Otherwise, they play some old-skool Gujarati music. SERVICE: sloooow… very slow. be prepared to lose 2 hours. There’s only the owner and(I think) his wife, along with one busboy. So when there’s more than 4 — 5 tables with patrons, service really gets slow. You’ll be waiting a long time to get refills on water, another round of a dish, etc. Why only two stars? Dirty plates and slow service kill the mood. If you can set those aside, then you’ll enjoy the food.
