Neighborhood staple. Variety of tasty food options, fun atmosphere(for dining or just drinks) and quiet patio where they allow our small dog to hang out at our table … which, having recently moved from Colorado, is a tough amenity to find in Jersey. Husband loves the Kentucky Bourban Ale on tap … tough to find anywhere else. Great service too.

I had no idea that there was even a restaurant or bar in Glen Ridge, so when someone told me about this place, I had to come down for a visit. I don’t know if this place has been there since 1928, but it does seem authentic. I was thrilled to find a bar where the bartender actually acknowledges a single woman at the bar … usually, you are ignored in this area(unless you are a 20something). People at the bar were actually friendly, which is also rare. I really liked the interior, since it seemed original it was not pretentious. They have a nice selection of beer on tap, and I ordered an nice IPA to go with an order of pork chops with red cabbage and potato pancake. The chop was delish, the cabbage was ok, and the potato pancake was really unpleasant. The lower rating is because of the cabbage and the pancake, otherwise I was happy. I also had a side of spinach, which was not sauteed in garlic, thankfully. I love plain spinach. The bread and whatever the sauce they give you to put on it was nice. Overall, a good experience, but I will stick with more bar type food until I can judge the kitchen better. I will definitely be back.

Ugh, I wanted to love this place. We live close by and I love to support local businesses. Well, sadly, I have never had such terrible service. The bartender(maybe 40’s, white female with dark brown hair) was beyond rude. When I asked for a modest modification to my order she said«It’s your world lady» and was so snarky. She never once checked on us and I had to ask for everything(napkins, more drinks, ketchup, whatever). I was so bummed she was rude because I wanted to love this place. Don’t visit this place; clearly customer service is not something they care about.

Came to Fitzgerald’s for a company Christmas Party. The food was great and I think most went back for seconds. There was enough variety for everyone to pick something they liked. The back room was just enough space and the staff was prompt in keeping the tables clean and free of used dishes. We had the party room from 8p-11p and we still had about a table left of people lingering and finishing up drinks around 10p– however, they were packing up tables, rolling them out of the room and we all felt about forced to leave early. Wished they would have waited until 11 to start cleaning up.

Food is average, menu recently changed. Tuna tartar was very bland. Lamb burger not as good as it used to be. Pizzas are good. Price to value not terrific. Ambiance is great.

1 day ago we had a horrible brunch experience. The awkwardness of the restaurant layout Interferes with service and digestion. The kitchen has one door for in and out traffic. The rest rooms /kitchen/outside entrance way/basement steps/and make shift coffee station converge into one aera. Not crowded seated immediately. One would think our service would be exmpleary at best or friendly and accomodating at least Our waitress left the impression that she was doing us a favor just by being there. Food special . steak and 3 eggs. Don’t bother to ask for Med. Well done Steaks. They come medium rare. Don’t bother to oder 3 egg over mediun. They come runny yokes unrecognizable Not sure if you even get 3 eggs. Under normal circumstances l would send the entire meal Back to the kitchen. However the long wait for coffie /food I was to hungry to send it back I had walk the entire length of reastuant To ask for cream. Waving for refills water/coffie didn’t Help . I would not recommend the facility to Anyone. Raven

This is an unfortunate review for a place we go to often. Tonight was an exception that I hope won’t become the rule. First, it is a Tuesday night and the place was full and loud. Not a problem — they do a good bar business and it is a clearly a favorite with a bunch of regulars. Now I go to Fitzgeralds frequently and have come to expect decent service and a nice atmosphere. Tonight I met a friend I haven’t seen in a year and we were really looking for a long talk to catch up. Ten minutes in a young family was seated next to us — right next to us — with a 3 year old at my elbow. I like kids, raised two, and kids aren’t a problem. Yelling, screaming kids are a problem. The hostess had many other options to seat this family — preferably next to one of the other many families in the place. But no — right next to the two adult women sharing a bottle of wine. That, combined with extremely slow service, made for a frustrating dining experience. I was sorry to have suggested Fitzgeralds to my friend who had never been. Hostesses should think when making seating decisions and service needs to pay attention. I couldn’t even get more water. I’ll go back because this is a exception but you need to be aware that this is a favorite of people with young kids and the noise is a problem if you are looking for a nice dinner out.

A favorite local watering hole — beer selection is strong and the staff is top notch. Food is also good… not talking fine-dining here but always consistent and a broad selection.

This place is so cute. The drinks are fantastic, but the food options for a vegan are slim. I was able to eat the guac and just ordered raw veggies with it.(Guac is not an app but they accommodated me when I asked for it as one.) for dinner I had the kale salad with no cheese. It was very good. I didn’t get the veggie burger since it is cooked on the same grill as the rest of the meat. The waitress was patient and very good.

I’m glad I had a completely different experience from a good amount of previous reviewers. Taste and texture galore! Came here during lunch for Bloomfield Restaurant Week. Although I was absolutely floored when I came across a locked door on Tuesday afternoon, I’m glad I gave them another shot on Thursday. If you know me or have read my other reviews, you know that I absolutely love dining al fresco! We’re off to a great start already. I apologize in advance for my selections not making sense, but different items on the prix fixe list caught my eye. First, I went with Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale on draft. Served in a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale glass. I always love when that happens! They have a lot of cocktails I wanted to try — a lot of classic ones especially. My appetizer of choice was the Charleston Crab Chowder/Soup. Lot of little pieces of crab in a milky broth. I’m surprised I they didn’t provide any oyster crackers or anything. It wasn’t necessary, but could have elevated the dish. For my entrée, I couldn’t resist going for the eggplant with goat cheese. Thick eggplant rounds, covered in panko and fried to a dark brown with goat cheese in the middle and topped with a diced tomato sauce. This is their play on the eggplant parm, and this definitely beats out all the eggplant parms I’ve ever had! The panko and frying beyond the typical golden brown allowed the eggplant to stay very crunchy even with the sauce. This is important because it contrasts the melted goat cheese perfectly. The dessert was a brownie sundae. I didn’t expect much from it(I’ve had dozens in my lifetime as it’s my favorite go to dessert), until I saw it. The brownie was another textural masterpiece. First of all, I love fudgie brownies. I don’t like the cake type ones. If I did, I’d order chocolate cake. Not only was this brownie fudgie, but it was also crispy(read: not overcooked). Amazing! Also, the chocolate drizzle adds even more dimension. Best brownie I’ve ever had. The service was great(I was the only one dining at the time). Combine the great service with outdoor seating and two items being the best of their kind that I’ve ever had, this is an easy 5 star!

We were so happy to find this little gym right in our community. The ambiance is cozy and classic. The food is delicious. I would call it real classic comfort food done right. I had lobster mac and cheese and my guy had the veal chop. So good! There was even a cool instrumental band playing. We really liked it here and we’ll be back.

Went there for Mother’s Day Brunch. I ordered Steak and eggs, Steak I asked for Medium, it came out mooing still I requested they take it back and cook it more. Got it back Still as rare as rare could be. My daughter and husband got Eggs Benedict, English Muffins weren’t cooked, Hollandaise sauce had way too much lemon and the Orange wedge they put on plate had an overwhelming taste of garlic. We also got Bloody Mary’s and they were the worst ever made. Waitress Brittany was nice an apologetic taking one meal off the bill. The bill was still over $ 80 bucks and the food got all of us sick. Then we had a baby with us 11 months old they wanted to charge the $ 22 brunch fee. For 2 scrambled eggs. Service was horrible. We used to go for Brunch on Mother’s Day every year but never will I waste my money or time. Suggestion to the owners: Hire chefs that actually know how to cook whats on the menu and a bartender that can’t mess up a Bloody Mary or Mimosa… I’d Pass on this restaruant.

This place is deceiving. Very old fashioned inside, tavern looking, with servers that remind me more of diner-style establishment. However, the food does not reflect the interior. I pictured a menu of bar food, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, nachos and wings. I was wrong. Our server was great. Upbeat, attentive, and friendly. He also looked like a celebrity that neither myself nor the rest of my party-of-four could put our finger on. Brought out bread and some kind of mystery spread(thinking mashed chick peas/garlic/hummus-like) and it was yummy. I got the eggplant & goat cheese dish. Goat cheese sandwiched between lightly fried panko breaded eggplant slices, topped with a tomato sauce. Picture a hybrid of lasagna and eggplant parm but instead of pasta — eggplant, and instead of ricotta — goat cheese. A bit on the salty side, and I wish they removed the skin from the eggplant. However, it was tasty(but not exceptional). Perfect sized portion though. The other folks in my party thoroughly enjoyed their food. A bit pricy, but I would return to try out some other dishes. 3.5 stars if I could.

Fitzgerald’s has been a place I’ve been meaning to check out for a few years now, I’ve even told other people«there’s this place Fitzgerald’s in glen ridge you can try?» when asked for suggestions. It wasn’t a disappointment. We made a reservation for our party of 4 on a Saturday, but I think we would’ve been alright without one. There’s street parking = on the one-way street off Bloomfield Ave, and a parking lot. When I pulled up, a delivery truck conveniently pulled in and blocked me from getting parking. Street parking wasn’t a problem tho. We drank. My budd pounded a few whiskey and cokes. I had some signature cocktail that involved Maker’s Mark. A little on the sweet side. The gals got vodka, can’t mess that up. Our waiter was great. Grey haired gentleman, very friendly and attentive. Made some recommendations throughout the evening. The menu makes it seem like Fitzgerald’s is trying to wear too many hats. Broad range of different meals. But they nailed it on each entrée. I had the half yard-bird, basically semi-boneless chicken. NOCHICKENLEFTBEHIND. it was cooked just right, with just enough seasoning. My girlfriend got the tuna-steak. It was awesome, she thinks better then what Fin has to offer. A friend got the eggplant and goat cheese, she seemed to like it. The steak eater ate his steak. Portions weren’t small, weren’t large. Just what a person should consume for dinner. Price was a little high for the portion size, but not crazy. I I will most definitely go back to try some other foods. tacos, caramelized onion pizza, mussels. I want all that. ProTip**get the fingerling potatoes or mashed potatoes if you can choose a side*

Unfortunately third time is not a charm. My first two visits were great, but on my third it happened to be a very busy evening and overall bad experience. They told us the wait time would be about 5 – 10 minutes, which turned into 15…, 20…, you get where I’m going. When we were seated the waitress came by and took our order. I ordered the grilled chicken over salad and it was awful. I can’t even stress how bland it was and the chicken was rubbery and fake tasting. The salad dressing had no flavor at all. I ended up stealing some of my friends sweet potato fries, which were very good.

I came here on a Friday around 7 o’clock. There was about a 20 minute wait time. The atmosphere is cool — a big open space with a classy feel. The beer was very cold. The side salad, as pretty as it looked, had absolutely no flavor. The ranch dressing also tasted like nothing. I couldn’t wait to try my bacon cheddar cheeseburger. When it a arrived, there was no bacon on it. When I told the waitress that my burger didn’t have bacon she brought me a side plate of bacon(which I thought was a little tacky). The burger needed salt and pepper — it had no flavor and the bacon wasn’t great either. My French fries were barely warm and tasted stale. All in all, I unfortunately didn’t enjoy the food here at all.

Cold night in Glen Ridge but warm reception at Fitzgerald’s. Bare tender and waitress were top notch as was the grilled salmon. The reason for the meeting was to hatch another co-Ed youth flag rugby team.

Solid local business. I’ll definitely come back in because of the location(close to the Glen Ridge Train Station) and nicely stocked bar. Service was good, food is OK and atmosphere is exactly as it should be: typical, local, and comfortable.
