I don’t even love Chinese food(MSG and all). However, everyone craves it every once in awhile. Such is my family. If you are in for some actual quality, fast, efficient, and always correct orders of delivery Chinese found this is the place. Only downfall.. . You might not be in their delivery zone.

It’s ok. This is the hubs’ favorite Chinese place. They are open fairly late, which is a plus. The food is good just a bit pricey compared to other places. They have a lunch buffet which is good and a great price. You can dine in here and there are cocktails and smoothies.

Even though I’m only giving 3 stars, I want to make clear, I like this place, for what it is. It’s fast, pretty decent take out or eat in Chinese food. Better than Panda Express, but by no means fine dinning. We go here all the time and have enjoyed the food we get every time. If you’re in the area and looking for decent Chinese, this is a pretty solid place.

Everyone knows when you order Chinese food you should plan on having left overs. Nothing beats left over Chinese food. Unfortunately, after having food delivered from here tonight, we will not be eating these left overs. The leftovers are already in the garbage and we are still hungry. The egg rolls weren’t good, the fried rice tasted over cooked, and the sesame chicken tasted like we were eating straight salt. So disappointed after reading other reviews. We will not be ordering from here again.

I love this place and I have been ordering or dining in for almost 20 years now. When we moved houses one of the first concerns was if this place would still deliver. Thankfully they do! We have tried nearly every delivery place in the area and always come back to GWII. They have the friendliest staff and the credit card machine when they deliver to your door is the greatest. Keep it up and we will keep coming back!

Spent 30 bucks on food and threw it away. Over cooked greasy and disgusting. The people who work there are very nice polite and warm hearted people don’t get me wrong the inside of the store is very vintage and pleasant. But my food was unedible

Great food. Delivery is so so. Reason for only 1 star, they forgot my fried rice. Yes you have to wait for that so so delivery to come back with it. By which time the rest of your meal is cold. Always check your order from now on.

Wow only 64 reviews for how long the place been there. Again with the selection of Chinese food in the area are poor quality in food sadly. OK. G/W the building’s the landscape it sad looking. The inside of your place is mortifying the water fountain must have a leak or something because I smell MOLD. Where you pay is filthy and a mess of papers too. The carpet is way old and dirty. I could only imagine how the kitchen looks yikes! Only deal here is a done deal.

Had the Singapore fried vermicelli rice noodles. I think the restaurant name Jin1 bao3 «gold treasure» is supposed to be a pun for Jin4bao3 «eat until stuffed». I certainly did eat until stuffed. Those fried noodles were pretty good! Maybe update this review after I eat there a few more times.

A nice interior with nice statues and layout. The food was pretty decent and they give you plenty of fortune cookie and sauce. This is one of the better Chinese food places in the area and is easily accessible on this busy street. The beef tasted great and the rice alos was pretty steamy and more unusually tasty than other places. Nothing to complain here.

Meh. The chicken wings are cut in half and then deep fried. Soooo, the meat shrinks up and it looks like a little meatball on a stick. Too spicy for me. Ten. 10 chicken wing halves and all ten were drummettes. The ribs are tough. I simple put them in the oven again, BUTWHYDO I BUYFOODANDTHENRECOOKIT. My general tsos chicken is super fluffy. Little balls of fluff with chicken centers. I wish they deep fried it longer before the pan sear to get a crispier bite. It was a large quantity, though.

There’s just something not right about their fried rice dishes, and I’m pretty sure it’s the copious amounts of oil they use to fry it. Despite it being unhealthy, I don’t know if the rice necessarily has any taste — just an oily fragrance and texture. It’s like they forgot the salt or something. I haven’t tried anything else, and hopefully other items on their menu taste better… because the Fried Rice… well, I’d only get that if I were desperate(which I am, most of the time). The prices are decent, but if the food isn’t passable, then I might be headed for the Panda Express(out of desperation, yet again).

I’m completely baffled by the great reviews for this place. I’ve ordered twice now. This place is the epitome of low-grade Chinese. The hot and sour was the best part of the order, nicely vinegary. It had large vertical slices of bell peppers in it, inexplicably, which seemed only partially cooked, but fine, I ate around them. The crab rangoon filling was dry and the outside was unappealingly chewy. The egg roll was mushy and flavorless(small points for the mini shrimp that were folded in, however). I also tried orange chicken from them on a separate order. Texture was horrific — gloopy corn syrup based sweet and sour sauce, a few anemic looking orange slices, and lots of wilted cabbage and lettuce sliding around in the sauce. The breading on the pieces was good, concealing a tiny amount of rubbery, weird chicken. Gross. I see pictures of carryout orange chicken with the sauce packaged separately. That’s not what I recieved, so possibly they’ve changed owners/management since then? Mine was soupy and mixed into the same container as the chicken. As a side note, all condiments are pre-packaged, none made in house, including that terrible sweet and sour sauce that comes in a plastic envelope, which is all you get with your crab rangoon or egg roll. This whole order was also delivered after about 90 minutes of waiting, well after the typical hour delivery window. I don’t think this explains the quality of the food, but it did mean everything was delightfully lukewarm. I gave them another shot before writing this review, and the delivery was on time, but the food was just as bad. I like Americanized Chinese as much as anybody else when it’s good quality. This isn’t it. Go to Szechuan House instead, they’re right down Ogden. Won’t be ordering from Golden Wok again.

I ordered from here tonight because I was craving some good Chinese food! I have been going to the location in la grange park for years, so I thought I would give this place a try! The woman I talked to on the phone was so nice and the delivery was super fast! Since I ordered delivery, leniency is a must since eating in is almost always better. In saying that, I have ordered in from the location in la grange park as well and their food has always been just as good as it is in the restaurant. I was slightly disappointed because the food just didn’t measure up to the food I am accustomed to at golden wok. The egg rolls were the same as the egg rolls at their other location, but all of the other food I ordered was quite bland in comparison. The chicken wings were also slightly undercooked. I LOVE the wings at the other location because they are always crispy and delectable! I also noticed the fried rice was different too. It just lacked the flavor that I am used to. Overall, I will give this place a try again, probably in house next time. I am hoping that it was just a bad night!

I’ve ordered from Golden Wok II a few times now and I’m just impressed each time with their wonderful service, prompt delivery, and quality of their food. Ordering online is very easy to use with a minimum order of $ 10. Some of their best dishes are $ 10.25 so that is never an issue. The only suggestion I have is to include photos of the dishes. Not everyone understands the descriptions of the dishes but a visual may help for those not familiar with the different Chinese dishes In any clarifications on my order, they aren’t afraid to call and double check. I really appreciate the time they take to make sure my order is right. One time I ordered«beef chow fun» but my family traditionally orders the dry style. They gave me a call and asked if I meant the dry style. Their delivery is always prompt, on-time, and always with a friendly greeting. The portion and quality of food is great! You will never go hungry. In addition, they always include plastic forks, soy sauce, mustard, sweet & sour sauce, and fortune cookies. Love it!

Eh, they have a lunch buffet which is minimal at best. But fairly cheap at $ 7. Egg rolls, egg foo young, choice of egg drop or hot and sour(which was sweet, weird…) soup, some fried chicken, some other chicken dish, a beef dish and some sweet and sour chicken. They also had a weak looking salad, some jello and other stuff which I didn’t check out. First buffet I’ve been to in a long time that didn’t have crab rangoon. They also have real fruit smoothies, but I didn’t really taste the fruit. If you check in on Unilocal, you get a smoothie for $ 2 so check it out.

So the only reason I came in and got food the other night… was because this place seems popular and Unilocal had a $ 5 coupon deal off a $ 20 purchase and I didnt want to head over to a group gathering without a contribution. Service was okay, a little abrupt… chalk that up to the culture barrier… no pleasantries but the order came up fast. Normally a Chinese place cant go wrong with General Tao chicken or spicy beef… but I’ve found the exception. The chicken if that IS the mystery niblets buried in breading and watered down goopy beige(sweet n sour?) vs. the expected spicy brown sauce… accented by a sad chunk of broccoli or carrot garnish… was barely discernible and essentially tasteless… Not to outdone by the«spicy beef szechuan» which was a 85% goopy sauce mess with mostly vegetables accented by mushy undercooked beef that looked like it was julienned by a 5yo. Random sizes with the consitency of stale chewing gum. The rice was fine. but I’m not a fan of white rice. No surprise… no takers on these offerings at the dinner… ugh.

Having recently re-review the Golden Wok buffet in Villa Park, I figured it would be a good idea to review the completely unrelated Golden Wok II in Glen Ellyn. Golden Wok II is a small Chinese restaurant located off of Roosevelt Road. I used to live within reasonable wok-ing distance(ah, I love terrible puns) of this place when I was younger and visited quite a few times in the late 1980s and early 1990s. And not much has changed, especially the décor. The Golden Wok II is like stepping back into the 1980s, it’s said that if you listen really closely you can hear people discussing the merits of Reaganomics in the background. I find there to be an element of charm and certainly nostalgia to this décor and overall found it to be fairly pleasant. After perusing the menu I settled on General Tao’s chicken as the entrée and crab rangoon as an appetizer. The crab rangoon came out first with two different sauces in bottles to try with it. One was like a spicy mustard, the other was more of a sweet and sour style sauce. The actual crab rangoon’s themselves had a reddish inside, quite a bit different than the normal cream cheese filled ones you find most places. The amount of crab meat inside here seemed to be higher than most places. The General Tao’s chicken came out a little ways after and with it was white rice and some brocoli mixed in. The chicken wasn’t particularly spicy and had more of a sweet taste, some of the individual pieces of chicken were tougher meat that I would have preferred. The chicken was a little disappointing to me, but not bad. Overall I’d say Golden Wok II is an average Chinese restaurant. The crab rangoon was excellent, my chicken was so so. I may visit again and try a different entrée. Overall it’s worth stopping at if you’re in the area. I am giving it three stars.
