Did you ever watch the show«kitchen nightmares»? This reminded me of one of those kinds of places. Dated menus, awful pink dated décor. Then, the food. Half the food was mediocre at best and pricey. Salad, mostly white parts of iceberg, tomatoes terrible, swimming in dressing. Pasta and sauce generic and tasted«pre frozen». Steak was unseasoned and had a funny flavor, but was actually pretty good. Side items were: Canned green beans or Uncle ben’s rice. Service was OK, but seemed a little lacking considering their were only 2 other tables during dinner service. Seriously, even if there are no other restaurants around, you should save your money, go to the store and buy yourself some frozen dinners… pass on this one.

We stopped in, and waitress came up to us and asked if we had reservations. When we said no, she told us she could seat us but not be able to get to us for awhile because the were short staffed. She was rude about it, and made it clear she wanted us to leave, as well as the other parties. I understand being short staffed, it can happen. It was was her delivery that made us never want to go back. We ended going to the Pizzeria in Sparta. The pizza was great, we ended up being happy to get booted from Nikola’s.

What a great find this place was. I sure hope the locals support this restaurant; it deserves to be in business. A friend and I stopped here while on a motorcycle tour of the BRP. We both were in the mood for old style Italian-American. We weren’t disappointed. The garlic bread and the scampi appetizer were a great combo. The scampi sauce was such a good dipping oil, we had a second serving of the bread. We enjoyed Caesar salads that were fresh and with some of the best Caesar dressing I’ve had in a long time. The dressing was robust, anchovy and grated cheese were apparent, but not overwhelming. We both enjoyed home made lasagna which was one of the specials. Tiramisu was made fresh, and artfully presented with good black coffee. Nice wine list, but we opted for Ruffino Chianti in keeping with our order. If I were in the area, I would be a regular.

Large portions for the money. House made pasta and custom cut steaks. Garlic bread was good. Water had chlorine taste but might be due to filter system. Would def come back and recommend!!!

WORSTSERVICEEVER! The food was decent, though my husband reported having had better lasagna from a box. My meal was good, but the nothing-but-iceberg salad was a disappointment. The desert was excellent. HOWEVER, we were seated in the back of the restaurant where the ceiling leaked onto the floor next to our table throughout our meal. Despite our complaints to both the waitress and the manager about the growing pool on the carpet and the annoying dripping, we were not reseated, though ample seating was available elsewhere. The service was very slow. The waitress could not(or did not want to) discuss the specials for the evening. Refills on drinks were very slow. We were not offered more bread, but had to request it twice, while we were trying to stave off hunger waiting for our meal. We were finally served salads after patrons arriving before us were served meals. We are people who feel it is best not to complain much before being served our food.(My husband worries over a potentially vindictive response.) The service was so poor that we almost left several times before being served. The only reason we stayed was a combination of hunger and desire not to drive a long distance in a storm. After our meal, I spoke to the owner to let her know our dissatisfaction. She offered no real apology and made no effort to ‘make things right’. We will not be eating here again. If you want Italian food in this area, we recommend the Pizzeria in Sparta — portions are larger, service is good, food is excellent, and prices are more reasonable. It doesn’t have to ‘atmosphere’ of a fine restaurant, but with the profusely leaking ceiling, neither does Nikola’s.

I have dining here for over 10 years and have NEVER had a bad meal. The ribeye is handcut, melt in your mouth, lip smacking delicious. Oh, if you choose the crabcakes with their homemade scampi sauce you will think that you died and went to heaven. The crabcakes are little breading and loads of tender crab meat. I am not talking about little slivers of crab meat but big chunks of delicious crab meat. The pasta is awesome too. The entrees come with garlic bread, salad, potatoes and the vegetable of the day. For a few dollars more you can have their Caesar salad which is worth every cent.

I have been eating here almost everyday. It’s definitely fine dining but they have been kind enough to address all of my allergies and I always have a wonderful experience.

This is a gem in the middle of nowhere. Décor looks like time has stopped 30 years ago, but food is really good.
